Three Minutes with the Pileated Woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus)

A male Pileated Woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus) is working on excavating a nest while calling, and responding, to other Pileated Woodpeckers in the area. Eventually his mate shows up to inspect his work. Recorded April 9, 2023 on the White Trail in Hamden, Connecticut. Edited down to 3 minutes from a continuous shot that originally was 22 minutes long.
