I have used Dicor on every roof that I have ever resealed. I didn't even know some roof systems required different sealers. I had no idea until I started watching your videos. Thanks James
I worked at a Winnebago dealer for 13 years and went to many factory training and I was never told about it. I only figured it out when a coach I had sealed came back months later for something else, and I checked the roof. I was shocked! The dealership didn't even stock nuflex anyway.
I think that the lack of lap sealant on the front cap seam was a factory oversight. My 2016 has it on front and rear. The assembler probably went to lunch and forgot.
🎄⛄Merry Christmas James & Chad& Micah‼️☃️🎄 we are getting a foot of snow right now, a White Christmas😍❄ I got 4 people wanting me to build them Travel Trailer Stained glass lamps😂🤣😁🤩🙋♀️🇨🇦👍♥️
Mine is a 2001 29' Minnie Winnie with 21,000 miles, second owner, and appears to have what you're calling a filon roof that IS raised in the center and seems good. I scrub the roof with car wash soap and brush and a pressure washer. Previous owner said it was parked indoors, but I doubt it. I do park it indoors. I've been reluctant to wax it because it would be slippery to walk on but I see it is your recommendation. How about using the spray on and wipe off products? I did caulk the entire unit, neatly, and mostly areas the factory never did. There is some minor delam due to there poor attention to detail such as NO sealant under the marker lights, stove hood vent, water fill, top of skirts on the underside side and corner trims and so on. I also sprayed the entire underside with LPS #3 rust inhibitor. I took it to Camping World to have the roof and front cap resealed.$2300. Huge mistake. The service writer outright lied to me about removing the old sealant and cleaning the surface so I cancelled the check. A manager eventually called me about it, I explained and I never heard from him again.
Thank you! I recommend a wash and wax but a wipe on product is fine too. Do be careful on the roof though. I am sorry to hear the reseal did not go well.
Great video. It's amazing how cheaply these are made for the price, esp. compared to boats & cars.... It's also surprising how many of these RV builders go bust given what must be pretty fat margins. Or maybe there is a huge amount of manual labor to build these because the manufacturers have not optimized production like boat & car makers have? Odd. OTOH, job security for you.
I always look forward to watching your videos. What sealant should be applied along the gutter to keep the roof radius in place under the gutter? Thank you.
@@AZExpert I noticed today that my roof (2018 Forza) has about three hairline cracks in three different locations. The cracks are about 1/4" - 2/4" long. There is no evidence of water intrusion so maybe it is just cosmetic. Is this common with Winnebago roofs?
Thanks again for a very helpful video! I actually took notes. My Adventurer roof radius’ clear coat is pretty bad. Would an over the counter clear coat work? Home Depo, etc? Thanks again!
feather the loose areas with 600-1000 grit sand paper use a gray scotch pad , tape off the roof and I'd get a paint shop to make some spray cans of auto clear coat rather than anything from the home store.
Other than the cosmetics of leaving white streaks on the sidewalls is there any problem with a heavily oxidized roof. Does it shorten the life of the roof?
Rubber roofs are designed to oxidize. TPO is not, and fiberglass is not. A filon/fiberglass roof should be treated like the sidewalls and washed and waxed. This will protect the material from damage. TPO and EPDM can be treated with a UV protector periodically
I think it will be a negative effect on the Tiffin brand, but I am no expert, and some more qualified RVers think it will be a plus effect for the Tiffin brand with far reaching ability for manufacturing materials.
I walked on a Winnebago roof and noticed soft spots and parts where the roof seems to crackle. I suppose that’s not normal. The previous owner also put bed liner on the front cap under the windshield. Wow.
it's difficult to say without seeing it. I tend to like TPO better than EPDM, but PVC seems to be the better product. EPDM is a great product for contoured roofs I just don't like the chalking it does.
At start it looked as if Radius was cracked . All the black dots look like soot from trucks starting in damp weather. No one good sealant for doing all?
hi plywood boats glass over ply have do is sand the plywood add coat epoxy resin dry and sand or new plywood coat both side dry and sand and glue Styrofoam use epoxy put glass over the ply add epoxy resin wait add gel coat sand and paint so why repair same way ?

Thanks for watching!
Really enjoy your videos. You have mzde me more aware of the importance of roof maintenance. Than on s
Tried to say thanks. The clear coat on my RV front cap was awful. Had to have it repainted.
Glad to help

I don't see it very often on the front caps from Winnebago, but you could be right
Awesome as always! Thank you.
Thank you too!
Always pic up something good. Keep it up.
Appreciate that
That was very educational. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great tech,And bilingual at that.
thank you. My Spanish is terrible.

It's a fine line for sure. Ultimately, the consumer tells the manufacturers what they will pay for and what they will not pay for.
Always great vidjas !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Thank you!
Good review
Glad you enjoyed it
So I'm looking at a 2016 Forza in Utah and was wondering what your thoughts on having the roof sprayed with linex?
I always look forward to watching your videos. What sealant should be applied along the gutter to keep the roof radius in place under the gutter? Thank you.
proflex from geocel

Can you recommend a suitable roof sealant for a 2018 Fleetwood Bounder. Your videos are great, very informative, keep them coming.
Thank You
I think it will have a TPO membrane so Dicor, XTRM, Alpha lap sealant
@@AZExpert 👍🏼 Thank You

What sealant is used along the drip rail where the roof is tucked in? Great info.
I use proflex amzn.to/3cKch8h
Winnebago recommend a Stone Mason Clear Seam Sealer it's difficult to find

I wonder how Thor and how this deal with Tiffin will change the market
I think it will damage Tiffin more than anything. Thor does not have a great reputation
Wow.
It's not uncommon to hear cracking depending on where you walk as the foam at the A/C ducts is thin as well as the luan plywood in some areas.
@@AZExpert Ah. I understand. I appreciate the feedback.
Is there a way to keep the clear coat from breaking down so quickly, some kind of treatment or frequent washing?
The roof needs to be washed and waxed like the sidewall. A liquid wash/wax is all that is needed.
Thanks. Like 201.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you
Welcome!
EPDM, TPO, or PVC for 2012 Keystone Sprinter 297ret EPDM roof replacement?
it's difficult to say without seeing it. I tend to like TPO better than EPDM, but PVC seems to be the better product. EPDM is a great product for contoured roofs I just don't like the chalking it does.
Can you use that nuflex on a rubber roof? Im just not sold on dicor at all. Makes no sense to have to constantly reapply.
I do not recommend silicone sealants on rubber membranes.
At start it looked as if Radius was cracked . All the black dots look like soot from trucks starting in damp weather. No one good sealant for doing all?
The roof sealant is self leveling and will make a mess in vertical applications.
@@AZExpert yes used self leveling on roof of my sleeper. Just asking if you thought maybe one would do dual purpose. Merry Christmas
On the roof radius. Is that 311 sealant ?
On the radius should be clear Proflex or similar product. Nuflex on the rooftop
Winnebago Quality at its best.
Can suck.
It was very surprising, but it does seem like quality is slipping at Winnebago.
Can newflex be used on any roof membrane?
It is not recommended on rubber or TPO membranes
I sent you an email on the slide topper cradle and how to make it not destroy the fabric.
thank you
Hope you do a video with that fix I sent you!
Sad looking for only three years old. Unless its under cover, these rigs just rot.
Yes, I was surprised the clearcoat was peeling so soon too.
hi plywood boats glass over ply have do is sand the plywood add coat epoxy resin dry and sand or new plywood coat both side dry and sand and glue Styrofoam use epoxy put glass over the ply add epoxy resin wait add gel coat sand and paint so why repair same way ?
Yes, it could be done that way
Did you hear Thor just bought Tiffin Motorhomes😩😠
I heard that and cannot believe Tiffin would sell to Thor. It's kind of heartbreaking to me.
