Another great set of plants that I got was 3 small strawberry plants back in 2017 at a local Fred Meyer they produced very sweet large berries and had many runners. Right now they multiplied so much that they now are filling 3 ---- 4 foot by 8 foot raised beds.

We are in south central Montana, so a somewhat limited growing season. We have a 17x25 ft garden, and we plan to add a half hoop house to it this year. We planted 2 dwarf apple trees, raspberries, a second grape vine, and some blueberries last season. I'm hoping 5o add more permaculture this season, as well as perennial medicinal herbs. This year I hope to add a peach tree, a pear tree, and some elderberry canes.
We have chickens for eggs and recently added a pair of meat rabbits which we are waiting a few more weeks to breed.
We have less than 7500 sqft total, but we're trying to make the absolute most of what we have!

Hey JR...i have my garden, quail and just ordered a few dairy goats, Nubians...i plan on getting some more goats for meat, on getting some rabbits and am starting to convert an old stock pond into a catfish and bluegill pond. My small feed field is coming up great, i should be able to cut back on quail feed this year. Yes i still live in the city, but moved my middle daughter and her family out to my farmhouse...teaching my son-in-law how to farm (on a small scale)...several of the trees in the orchard should fruit this year, barely got a couple bushels last year. I was looking at your aerogarden to start seeds, looks interesting. Was talking to my cousin who farms down the road and he believes i am going to have to sink another well because of the animal and garden increase. Work is never done, but at the end of the day, well worth it. 👍

I live in a subdivision which is semi rural. A few years ago I raised a lamb in the very small back yard. I used to walk it to the local park and let it eat feed for a few hours a day on grass. I had it on a very large dog harness. All of the locals would come out and say hi with kids in tow. This allowed me to get to know alot on my neighbours and make some good friends. Eventually the lamb was 18 months old and we took it to a local farmer so it has the space and could live with other sheep. The farmer is a good sport and still sends photos on a regular basis. The point is one can raise larger animals in an urban environment. I have no doubt this would be fround upon by local officals. On two occasions animal welfair turned up to the park. The same guy both times. He was ex army and could see the animal was healthy and happy so did not take it despite the fact he could. I live in Bahamas and I have tried but the neighbor who is a young bully has about 15 goats that ate everything, my sweet potatoes, pigeon peas trees, broccolis, carrots and beets. I told him about it a few months ago. He saids there is nothing he can do because the goats are stressing him out and wires are too expensive for him to buy to confind them. My husband has a licensed shot gun and rifle but i'm trying to live at peace with my neighbors. What am I to do?

Can you put up a fence? Or plant a hedgerow of thornbushes around your property, so they can't get in?

It's very hard to feasibly garden off grid. Pests, water supply and supply of good soil is a logistics thing I need to figure out

If preppers run out of food after 2 years of weathering any financial or other storm, and we are still in trouble as a country, we will be in a very dangerous place, as a society!

Gardens can be raided. Learn to plant Indian gardens spaced far apart. Apt dwellers, plastic 50 gal drums cut in half are good for growing potato's on the porch.

I have been researching greenhouses in a nuclear event can't really find much on it if it is possible to still be able to grow vegetables in a greenhouse after nuclear fallout I would think you would have a better chance

I think you would have a better chance. I’ve thought a little about how to garden if things got so bad that the sun was blocked, and I think indoors with grow lights powered by a large battery array hooked up to some sort of wind power may work. It would probably be very expensive though.

It's almost time to pay the piper his dues.... Perhaps the more technically advance we have become the the less human or loss of most peoples care for humanity or lack their of. People tend to sell you down the river much easier if they can get a leg up in life no matter how little they may benefit. Strange behavior in society a ramp up in narcissism as well.
