How many of you have ever been to the world's greatest all night gospel sing in Bonifay, Florida? It's been many years, but I used to go to those wonderful sings with my wife and friends. Wow!
Me, too. My wife and I went to several of them and got to see: The Hinsons, The Goodmans, The Dixie Echoes, The Kingsmen and the Florida Boys. There were lots more, but I just can't recall them all.
I saw the Hinsons there in 1975. I was 12 in a gospel band myself and LOVED them. They were so nice to me and I can remember that night like it was yesterday.
I can remember around the late 70's very we'd load a cooler, lounge chairs, blankets and a couple buckets of KFC and going to the football field in Bonifay for those all night singings. A lot of the old southern gospel groups would sing their hearts out and sometimes it was hot, a couple times it rained but come sunrise most that came stayed through it all.
Yes, ,that extra "funk" sound and vibe the Hinsons had during this time set them apart and what got my attention as a young teenager. Kenny's unique vocal stylings, their dynamic songwriting and the kicking band distinguished this group from the mid 70s to the early 80s or so. No one else had quite the same pop and feel as the Hinsons. This video captures that better than any I've seen.
The hinsons are and always will be my favorite group of all time.....but my comment this time is going towards that bass player in this video.....What a phenomenal job he does here live....that is some good bass slapping, I love it!!!!
I wish I could help you with that. I DO have a few other songs from this on video somewhere. But I do not have the whole concert. When I can find the video with the rest of the ones I have, I'll post them. Wish I could help you out. I'd love to have the whole set myself.
Great song! The Hinson's always have that enthusiam and inspiration. Thank you Jesus for The Hinsons and The New Hinsons. God Bless You, Gwen

What an amazing sound! The band man. What a difference maker! This is practically southern gospel rock n' roll. Amazing.

@brotheraa2002 Thank you... but that isn't me. I didn't start with them until 1981. That would be Gary Prim on piano there.
Wonder how a person could get ahold of this whole show from Bonifay, FL 1979?
