      It’s perfect for my market Tony. If you’re primary market is heating wood the 5 way box or standard 7 way box would be the way to go. Dan at Back 40 has some good videos on that application.

    The Pizza Box wedge is perfect! For what I sell, this is what my customers prefer. All that slash is actually good to have as kindling, interested to see what you come up with to separate it. 👍👍👍

      Thanks so much for watching. I imagine the nursery business really slows down in the winter… time to head to the islands for a vacation! The grizzly bar build will probably have to wait until after Christmas. It’s a very busy time of year.

      Hi Dick, Yes we are done planting for the Fall. We do keep busy propagating, knocking out chores, and producing some firewood. Still working full time too.
      Hoping to up my firewood game in retirement. Doing only 8-10 cords a year now. 1/2 of that is for home heating.

    Hey there Dick! Great work that day! Nicely done! Great to see the 22-28 is working well for you! Agree with you on the extra slash in the IBC totes. DudeRanchDIY does have a nice step up for the additional grizzly bars he added 🔥💯👍. So a similar set like you mentioned will be a great addition for you! Really enjoyed stopping by an spending some time in the woodyard with you! Look forward to the next vid! Take good care Dick! Cheers! Andrew from NB :)

    Watched before signing in. Thank you for the comparison. Not that I'll ever be using the pizza wedge due to only having a 12-22 with a 6 way, tall 4 and a 7 way that they say is max on this unit. I've wondered how it would look, one versus the other.
    Anyone interested in making smaller wood might like the new Wolfe ridge vertical splitters as well if they do not want all of the "trash". I think Wolfe ridge makes the best commercial vertical that you can buy right now. I think Eastonmade makes maybe the best "bang for the buck" horizontal in the 12-22 class. I also encourage folks to look at some videos from "All-wood" splitters. Their bigger splitters are extremely impressive and are made right here in the states like Wolfe ridge, Timberwolf and Brute force.
    Anyway, thanks again for the video and sorry to get rambling on about things. I likes me the firewood equipment!

    Ask your customers if they like the smaller scrap wood/ kindlin I do all bulk firewood from my processor into my dump trailer and my customers love the kindling they get in a load and they like its free lol its just part of the process

    • @oldguyfirewood
      @oldguyfirewood  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good point. I’m more concerned with the really fine slash it produces. I hope the grizzly bars will eliminate most of that.

  • @1squirreldog
    @1squirreldog 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I agree with the slash being a little too much . We just built a set of grizz bars & I hope they do the trick. It seems that pizza box wedge puts out nice size wood. I would like to see a comparison of the largest & smallest piece each wedge can produce. Keep up the good work

  • @Woodman_Custom_Sawing
    @Woodman_Custom_Sawing 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Perfect! Thanks for making this video. Those are the size splits I'm currently making with my single wedge splitter. It's tedious to say the least but I find it easier to handle and the wood dries quicker when that size. Thanks for sharing this and don't forget, I'd like to know if your splitter is a stationary unit and the options you chose. It looks like it powers the elevator also. Tell us more. Thanks again.

    • @oldguyfirewood
      @oldguyfirewood  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Marshy! The Eastonmade 22-28 with attached conveyor is on wheels and can be moved. In my case I set it up in my woodyard and probably won’t move it around… it’s easier to bring the wood to the splitter. My 22-28 has the attached conveyor, tall 4 way wedge, standard 7 way box wedge, and 7 way “pizza” box wedge.

      Hello Bob… good to hear from you. The Eastonmade 22-28 has really helped me increase production. I still use my Wolfe Ridge for the big gnarly pieces that don’t do well with the Eastonmade box wedge. Jose’ likes running the new splitter. Check out my “one month review of the 22-28” video. He runs it in that video. Happy New Year!
