I only knew him as a really funny and talented actor but in this movie I felt a lot more things, his performance was really good, Richie was my favorite character in the book and I was so happy that Bill was going to play him!

The dialogue was definitely hilarious but the scary parts were scary to me. Some people don't embrace 'childish' horror and see it for the grotesqueness that it is. They just think it is 'stupid' or 'funny'. You just have to shift your focus and mindset when watching movies like this and embrace the childhood fears you used to know.
I don’t think the original and these 2 remakes were meant to be scary. But I know what you mean , I think the first one had more jump scares and scenes that freaked me out more .

Part 2 made me realize that this material only works when the story is based around kids. The tone was just way off in some parts. However, the same approach worked in part 1. Like, imagine the Goonies were adults instead of children. It wouldn’t work. Or if Stranger Things was about adults, not children. It would fall flat. They should have gone way darker with a lot less humor (and bad cgi) for part 2.
I thought that when adult Bill said “it was fast enough to beat the devil” he was referring to the time that he saved Stanley from Pennywise when they were kids by getting away from him on Silver
The creepiest moments for me was the Bleacher scene(that jumpscare almost got me) and when Young Ben was at the school and hid in his locker, I felt like that damn poster was looking at me
that quote from the book was one of the many quotes i took from it and stuck with me for a long time. it took me like 2 years to finish that book only because i didnt want it to end. such an amazing read.

These 2 movies are very, very good movies as a whole, not many horror films can stand up to other genres the way these do, horrors are USUALLY just for scares. But this was a genuinely good film
I think the turtle might have some relation to the Iroquois creation story about the turtle that carried land on his back where twins (one good, one evil) grew up and later the good one defeated the evil.
The Paul Bunyon jump scare was amazing. My body locked up and kinda vibrated, and afterwards my eyes were watering. I was laughing so hard at my reaction. Ive become de-sensitized to scary things and jump scares from watching so much of it. That Paul Bunyon got me so bad made it totally worth the ticket price alone!
When Richie opens the “very scary” door in the house (or whichever door he opens first), the inside is a closet. Not sure if maybe that was a nod to his fear/ “dirty little secret” or just a coincidence hahahaha.

The Paul Bunyon jump scare was amazing. My body locked up and kinda vibrated, and afterwards my eyes were watering. I was laughing so hard at my reaction. Ive become de-sensitized to scary things and jump scares from watching so much of it. That Paul Bunyon got me so bad made it totally worth the ticket price alone!
