      @@Zizzily - that's a combination of several different things. The vast majority of the items there are highly customized components from Rainmeter. The oscilloscope to the middle left is a visualization plugin for Winamp, and the analog meters above that are a standalone program called VU Meter. It was probably a solid week's worth of time customizing Rainmeter elements from various different designs I found here and there. Then had to look outside from there To wind up with what you see here...

    • @FiberNinjaStudios

      It certainly would make things easier to read. It would just take up more space at the work site. I usually always have my phone with me anyways so it works out fine for me without a tablet but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work as well.

    Couple of months ago a guy I was training left my Fluke Networks probe and toner behind. Darn house is like a hundred miles away. Customer said I can come by anytime to pick it up, dunno when but i know where its at lol. Anyway, I've been getting by with a el-cheapo Sperry ET64220. The probe is small and feels great in the hand. Doesn't have a 60Hz filter... The toner feels like it will break after its first drop. Dunno if I should piece together a set like a Tempo 177 Toner and a Fluke PRO3000F60 Probe or just buy a Greenlee 801K set. I do more Security and AV Integration work then Telco and LAN stuff.

    Are there any tone/probe sets that can trace RG6 coax _without disconnecting it?_ We operate in a few apartment buildings where each apartment has a coax run to a tap belonging to the local cable conglomerate. One of the services we offer is to reconnect the apartment coax to a broadcast TV antenna on the roof, for vastly less per month. The problem is, if the coax for an apartment is mis/unlabeled, it's unacceptable to disconnect each apartment's line to check for tone--disrupting one apartment after another until we find the right one. I realize the shielding makes it a challenge, but being able to trace coax while it's still connected would be Yuge.

    • @VinnysU2B
      @VinnysU2B 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Him have done the disconected cable with a crocodile on the copper and another on the shield, and it helped find, though I'm wondering with just one crocodile on the copper or shield, or exterior side of the connector won't work? By any chance if you trie let us know about it.
      P.S. maybe this helps out? Klein Tools Coax Explorer 2 with Remote Kit @FiberNinja
      Sorry for bad English as it isn't my mother language.
      Best Regards.

    • @wlan246
      @wlan246 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VinnysU2B I did read about, and tried, connecting one terminal of the toner to the cable shielding and one terminal to what I figured would be a decent building ground (baseboard heater), the idea being that the shielding would radiate better if the center conductor weren't carrying a canceling signal, but it didn't work. Most likely, the "prosumer" brand toner I was using just didn't have the Oomph. If the Fluke 3000 that I just picked up doesn't work, I'll be in the market for a Tempo 177.

    • @FiberNinjaStudios
      @FiberNinjaStudios  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's actually a combination of several things. Mainly it's Rainmeter. I run about a half dozen of the items through there (highly modified). The analog VU meter is a stand-alone program called VU Meter (strangely enough), and the osciliscope is a plug in to Winamp.

    About the Pro3000 probe, I had one where the blue end piece broke off in my toolbag. No idea how. I'm not talking the replaceable tip, I'm talking what the tip goes into. Really annoying. I taped it together but that didn't really work. So I replaced the probe with another one. Tips are conductive FYI. So don't touch any bridge clips on 66 blocks; always swipe over the insulated wire.

      Bad Obsession Motorsports comes to mind. They've been working on building a custom Mini for at least a year or two. They'd hand-fabricate just about anything they wanted. Truly an amazing channel to watch but they put out another new episode every few months (understandably).
      I'd also consider SV Seeker. He's building a naval research boat in his back yard and the journey and construction experiences are incredible.
      I'm open to others here contributing...
