      Correct! Thanks to a previous episode where I managed to block a breaker panel with my installation, I learned about clearance requirements and implemented that practice here at this site.

      No kidding. I felt the anxiety level rising. It's even worse when the "data center" also acts as a storage closet for IT and they never throw out any equipment.

    As a network engineer who’s managed several greenfield site installations in the past, I’m always super impressed with how you manage to turn lemons into lemonade. I genuinely love your content and would be very interested in seeing how you’d tackle a fresh install that doesn’t need to be done on a shoestring budget.

    I don't want a medal for watching your video, I hope for more videos. You do great work and though I have only rebuilt a few servers rooms I have worked in IT for over 20 years. You have shared insights I would have never thought of without having a experienced the failures before. Thank you for taking the time to give these insights and subtle yet obvious solutions.

    Very nice, quality workmanship. I’m a retired tech, & fought many of these rat’s nests over the years. Went thru a gazillion tie wraps. I was strong willed on labeling to aid those after me, as well.

    Great cablers think alike, as soon as you look at the room, you know what needs to be done to get the cabling done right.

    Great job in a not so great spot. I like your approach. I also like the DIY things (like the J hooks, L brackets, and keyboard shelf) that you added to get the desired result without spending loads of money. I learned a lot. I rarely watch a video this long, but this was well worth. Keep up the good work.

    Wow. What a great video. You did a great job in the video showing the issues and the fixes. I've been in the computer business for a long time but you showed me many new fantastic cabling processes. There always seems to be cables that need to be stowed away and your high horizontal shelf fixes that problem. Bravo. Of course I loved hearing about not blocking access to open space in the rack with your cabling. Securing cabling is also not done properly most of the time. I will definitely use the tips on the patch panel to use pig tails on the strain relief to allow better access. Excellent. Thanks.

    Nice work. Extra points for the service loops - I learned that trick from the UK Post Office Telephones specs, back in the 70's, as a kid, and thanks - I learned a couple of good ideas from you.

    I have been doing data and voice installs and MAC work since 1988
    .A few tips before you start this type job. Take a photo of all cables and switches and routers and patch cable locations.Use a label maker to mark all cables or a electricians number book. Don't look at the big picture. Go cable by cable ,switch by switch. Go out to the field and check for any labeling.
    You did a nice job. Ninja

    Good job. I watched one of your videos, and then I got into all of them. I not only appreciate quality of the work, but I also learn small bits, and just see what things other people do or how they mess up. Also interesting to see US-specific equipement and terminology used for a person from Europe.

    ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really enjoyed watching this. Amazing what a little time and some strategic planning will do a rat nest of cables. That's a spectacular improvement over what was there, so maybe now that client will actually take so care of their revamped data room. I can see you care and take pride in your work, Much respect.

    I have 2 servers at home with one running my home DVR system PLEX and my home office equipment, I like to hard wire what I can so with my limited budget watching your videos has been a great teaching experience. It gives me satisfaction knowing that i can pull my server cabinet out (its on wheels) and know that i wont pull any plugs out and its all dressed neatly. Thank you for your videos i really do learn a lot from them from a home user environment.

    I cannot believe you are able to do all of this by yourself without having a team anybody would look at that room and not touch it with a ten-foot pole me included. Your work is unmatched and if I ever needed to have somebody clean up an end scene networking system from everything electrical to everything fiber and everything Network you are clearly in a league of your own congratulations I love the video please keep uploading that

    Im doing similar work, just not in commercial environments; mostly just very large residential with various third party companies who dont necessarily care about future technicians, just if they can get the equipment up and working.
    Watching your videos gives me a bigger picture of the type of tools, tips, and methods to make my job that much easier. Please keep the A1 content coming =]
