Rangiku Matsumoto. Not only because she is a childhood friend of Gin and her zanpakuto abilities are similar to Kamishini no Yari's but because she can actually fight while not being just a warrior but a woman as well (if that makes any sense)
Going for Bias here but it's Toshiro. I just like how his development is shown in the series. Like you barely see that with the other characters. My favorite moment would have where Isshin was Captain, Rangiku was his lieutenant and Toshiro as his third seat. I was also waiting for this one.
Toshiro is actually my favorite character in Bleach alltogether. I absolutely love his character development and how relatable he was. He felt like every child fan's dream. A self insert of getting to be a Captain in Bleach. Except he's way more than that. As for my favorite devision moment? It would probably have to be everything they did in Fake Karakura. Specifically Toshiro stabbing Aizen's illusion of Momo.
I like the way that Hitsugaya is somewhat foreshadowed as having Yamamoto-esque potential, while having a polar opposite Zanpakuto. I really like that dichotomy. The frozen child, following in the footsteps of two of the most powerful flame-wielders.
I always thought that Hitsugaya came off as a secondary main protagonist in Soul Society Arc as he was the one primarily investigating Gin as a possible traitor and Aizen’s “death”, which was the big subplot that led to the finale of that arc. That’s why I really got into Hitsugaya as a character from the start. Sadly I think one of the biggest let downs of the Thousand Year Blood War is that Hitsugaya was not chosen to go to the Soul King Palace and train with the Zero Division. You would think with as much as they hyped up his potential through out the series (Kyroku suggesting Hitsugaya will one day surpass him, meaning Hitsugaya could one day be Captain Commander Level) that Zero Division would want to help him unlock that potential. If Byakuya had died in the first invasion as I think Kubo originally planned, Hitsugaya would have probably taken his place and train with Zero Division, maybe unlocking his adult form transformation from them. One of my hopes is that we see Hitsugaya really display his potential in the Hell Arc if that continues. Imagine a scene where the flames of Hell threaten to consume one of the realms or a group of our heroes and Hitsugya’s ice has become so powerful he literally freezes Hell over and maybe Yamamoto in Hell says “It seems Captain Hitsugaya’s ice has come to rival even the flames of my Ryujin Jakka. Truly his is the greatest of all ice Zanpakuto!” I would lose my mind with excitement.
I think with as much as Hitsugaya has been talked about potential wise, and the fact that his age and inexperience is brought up at almost every single encounter, I fully believe that Kubo had planned to showcase an adult Toshiro from the very beginning but wasnt quite sure how to go about it. I definitely agree that not having him go to the soul palace was a missed opportunity, but the reworking of the way his powers worked was a good anime style way to showcase it. Maybe we’ll get some anime only scenes that explain it a bit more, I always liken it to Nel’s transformation, where he probably needs to gather more spirit energy until the timer runs out in order for it to work, which he never really had time to do until the fight with Gerard.
The fact that Toshiro didn’t go to the 0 Division to train is impressive. I don’t think people realize how much of a flex that is for Toshiro. The 3 strongest Gotei shinigami by the end of the arc were Byakuya, Toshiro and Kenpachi Kenpachi, who was already stronger than the strongest Espada Yammy pre timeskip, became stronger than Vasto Lorde Ichigo in the SAFWY Novel, and then beat the 8th Kenpachi who considered Vasto Lorde Ichigo level fighters as absolute trash compared to him….all before his Unohana training then got special training to re unlock his old suppressed powers, surpassed that original level, grew strong enough to one shot Bankai Unohana, got Shikai, then got a soul Zenkai Boost post Gremmy fight, and then finally unlocked Bankai against Gerard on top of his already beyond Unohana level base and beyond Gremmy level Shikai Byakuya had a massive soul Zenkai after surviving As Nodt, got special training from the wisest and most powerful Shinigami in all of history (pre TYBW), obtained beyond the mastery limits of his own Bankai as it was already mastered in the SS arc, but grew even further with it, and then got his base stats increased exponentially by the 0 Squad training and rivaled or surpassed Bankai Kenpachi by the end of the arc Now what about Toshiro? What special training did Toshiro do? Toshiro trained by himself for 17 months, and then when he lost his Bankai, he did a few days worth of basic training to boost his fundamentals. He got a soul Zenkai from almost dying to Bazz B and another from being revived after his zombie near death experience But Toshiro with 17 months and a few days of normal training and less Zenkai boosts then Kenpachi and less training than Byakuya was able to fight on the same level of on a greater level than Vollstandig Gerard, Bankai Byakuya and Bankai Kenpachi. If Toshiro did get special training, he would probably be on a level closer to Ichigo than any other character besides Aizen and Yhwach considering what his Mature Bankai could do. Keep in mind, Mature Bankai Toshiro is just Toshiro’s normal Bankai’s natural evolution, not any special form or power. It’s similar to what happened with Dangai Ichigo where he ages up, but more drastic
My issue with him like many characters is that they had potential but didn’t get enough characterization. When he turns into an adult it’s not that hype for me bc I don’t care that much about him due to how he was handled up until that point. Especially when he doesn’t even win (which to be fair it would have been bs if he did but then don’t write it to where it’s bs)
@@KurokamiNajimi i feel like the biggest issue with the final arc is that the fight against elite enemies was like fighting against abstract concepts. How does one effectively fight against the physical embodiments of God’s wrath and ability to work Miracles, or even against the Imagination of God in universe, who’s defeat still barely makes sense. It was an interesting concept but it ultimately felt like an uphill battle with an unreachable peak to the point where they had no choice but to get Deus Ex’d out of existence.
@@JohnGlow2 My issue with those fights is that you had ppl who were suppose to be below Squad 0 doing better than them who got low diffed. It was literally said Squad 0 is stronger than the entire Gotei 13 which would have included Yama. Also how the reiatsu laws were inconsistent again. Abilities aren’t supposed to work when there’s large gaps in reiatsu but you had stuff like Askin putting Ichigo to sleep, Shunsui’s Bankai being effective against X-Axis, Nanao being able to use that bullshit spirit separation thing on him, etc Far as Yhwach his defeat was poorly written but I don’t see him as the unstoppable god. Aizen unrestricted and FGT Ichigo are stronger. People forget about the transcended state where you can’t even be sensed by others. Ichigo became so powerful even another transcended person couldn’t perceive his power. I’d argue Aizen’s defeat was even more of a stretch than Yhwach’s. FGT was the ultimate deus ex machina and Kisuke’s Kido staying activate for that long is lowkey bullshit. Whenever I bring this up the only arguments are headcanon like Kubo forgot etc. Yeah an author invented a new realm of power and just forgot about it, it can’t be that they’re simply weaker right? That was the point of the suit, he would have easily kicked his ass if it wasn’t on and been unstoppable. Can’t have that, main characters have to be the ones to finish the job. We don’t even know what would have happened for sure if the arrow didn’t come up Aizen still didn’t use his Bankai and it’s not as if he can die. Other forgotten aspect of the Hogyoku is that it seemingly makes his power limitless. Even if you are stronger he just recovers and evolves. He said he’d surpass Ichigo’s level of power as the Hogyoku determined he no longer even needs a Zanpaktou (fusing with your Zanpaktou was considered the peak of evolution in that fight so him literally becoming one in theory would put him in the next level of power). Other arguments I’ve seen are ppl could sense them because BW characters are stronger. Da fuck? Kisuke and Isshin are as strong as base Aizen who is at the limit of what a Shinigami can achieve and they couldn’t sense him so it doesn’t matter how much stronger other characters got some of which aren’t even at that tier like Orihime, Renji, Rukia. I think most fans don’t really understand the power scheme. They think Ichibei for example is comparable to BW Ichigo. Ichibei is just a Shinigami, that is his limit. Whether he’s among the top or not he is just a Shinigami. If there was ever any doubt of that Kubo literally stated Yama was Squad 0 level before the arc started and the only thing about Yama base Aizen was sweating was his flame (lol). Other arguments attempting to ignore what’s stated is Kisuke saying Aizen was stronger during the BW. No he said he may be stronger, he cannot perceive his power. He said that based on what he showed while restricted. And that’s another thing ppl arguing that the suit doesn’t weaken and all it does is keep his reiatsu close which makes 0 sense. There’s no point in a suit like that nor would make sense that they could contain him. Nanana said he could see his reiatsu which he should not be able to do if he was in the same league of power as before, Nanana wouldn’t be able to perceive his power. Shunsui literally said it was impressive he could remain conscious “while having your reiatsu SUPPRESSED”. When Shunsui released a seal it came him enough power to break most of the other seals, because all of that stuff makes him weaker. Then there’s the Yhwach said Ichigo regained the power to defeat Aizen. That was a bad translation. What he actually said is you regained the power you lost against Aizen. In that panel there’s a picture of Ginjo referencing the Fullbring arc, he was talking about Ichigo regaining any power at all. People could sense Ichigo’s power objectively proving he was no where near his FGT state
Hitsugaya's role was also increased in the Arrancar arc, due to him technically has the an already established beef directly with Aizen in the prior arc, and Matsumoto with Gin.

Really like that talk about "goodness" and "humanity" being so tied up in the tenth division because for much of the story-line particularly in the early parts, the Shinigami a whole came across as cold, uncaring, and even border-line psychopathic in regards to their laws and duties; and to an extent that is all true. The 10th Division in particular helped inject some nuance and decency into the Gotei-13 that made it possible to actually like them as a faction, though they were not the only ones. I do not think they are out of place necessarily within the Gotei as a whole because keep in mind that the 7th, 8th, 9th, 13th, and 6th (post soul society arc) all seem to have at least comparable values even if they are not as openly human as the 10th. I think everybody should be grateful for the 10th division's decency whenever I think about Ichigo and Hitsugaya. Isshin was obviously crucial in raising Ichigo and helping him grow up into the man who would be the main protagonist and hero of the story line where he would ultimately help save all the various realms of existence. As for Hitsugaya, consider Ichigo's observations on Aizen at the end of the Deicide arc; namely that Aizen was always so much more powerful than anyone else around him that he was never able to form any meaningful connections to anyone. This at least in part lead to Aizen developing his God-Complex and psychopathic tendencies. Hitsugaya similarly, is blessed/cursed with such intense power that when he was younger, his lack of control caused him to nearly kill his grandmother and it also seemed to isolate him from everyone except for his Grandmother and Hinamori. I feel it is safe to say that being part of the 10th Division not only gave Hitsugaya a purpose and a place he could refine his control over his powers. But, the bonds he formed with Matusmoto and Isshin were critical in keeping him grounded emotionally so that he did not turn out like Aizen. Now consider that in terms of raw destructive potential Histugaya's Bankai seems to be second only to Yamamot's and I think we should all be grateful he cares about things like "morality" and "collateral damage". A personal theory of mine is that on some level Aizen is aware of this and hates Hitsugaya for it which is why he always took that extra little effort to torture Hitsugaya.
Aizen probably saw his potential and bits of himself in him. think of it. Toshiro looks like a Kid. Hes super young in soul reaper terms. his growth and power level are probably comparable to Aizen back when he was that young. of course he has the better sword ability but he sees how Toshiro can grow.Part of him is intentionally cruel to Hitsugaya as a way of both humbling him but honing his skills. cuz deep down he wished he could've been as normal a genius as toshiro is. but he has certain gifts Toshiro doesn't. Kyoukasuigetsu is probably a sadistic arrogant monster that knows it has no equal among other zanpakuto spirits. anyways Aizen is brutal to him for a reason and I just wish we had more insight into rhat part of aizens thinking. here's hop8ng he plays a critical role in the new hell arc as well.

To be fair to Hitsugaya though Kyouka Suigetsu is one of, if not the most stupidly broken abilities in all of Bleach. If Aizen shows up in the Hell arc, I agree I would like to get some more insight into how he thinks and maybe a flashback showing some detail on how he ultimately became the man we met in the Soul Society Arc. As for Hitsugaya in the Hell arc, my hope is he is allowed to beat someone who is undeniably powerful and not have it undermined somehow. When I read the manga, the impression I was left with was that Kubo essentially had three things things he wanted to communicate regarding Hitsugaya; (1) that despite his youth, he is very powerful even by Captain standards, (2) his powers have not fully matured meaning he has insane potential for future growth, and (3) that his powers and his Bankai in particular are incredibly dangerous. The problem is that Kubo in my opinion consistently made weird and unnecessary writing decisions that undermined Hitsugaya and thus he did not come across as impressively as I think Kubo wanted him to, this is something I like to call "the Sakura effect". For example, Kubo paid off the hints that Hitsugaya's Bankai was incomplete and revealed a more mature and powerful version of his Daiguren Hyourinmaru near the end of TYBW arc...only to put him up against someone who literally could not die until another broken character decided it was time for that character to die.
On balance, I think Ten would probably be the best division to be in as Toshiro is a competent, ''firm but fair'' kind of leader who you can count on to have your back in a fight. He won't battle you to the death, he won't perform experiments on you, he won't betray you. He's just a guy who clearly expects you to do your best and that's that. His biggest flaw is that he comes off as quite cold and distant, but he's the ice boy so what were you expecting? Besides, most of your interactions would be with Rangiku anyway, a woman who is easy on both the eyes and the mind.
I’d also like to add that Toshiro is also essentially a child soldier, a youth given control of an entire platoon. In a series where legitimately everyone perceives him as a child, and makes comments frequently about his immaturity both emotionally and power development, its pretty understandable that he’d be a stick in the mud and take his duties more seriously than others. I see him written off as having a bad attitude by those who dislike him without ever giving a thought to the position he’s in, when every other soul reaper was his age they were out playing/ fighting in the Rukongai districts. He has very big shoes to fill and always has since Captain Shiba’s defection, so it is only natural he’s going to be much more invested in his position than others. Which is why I think that he and Rangiku have the best captain lieutenant development in the series. He doesn’t just see her as a second in command to pass work off too, he legitimately has high expectations of her because he more or less sees her as an equal instead of a lackey. There are hints of their relationship sprinkled throughout the entire series, and it is shown in its fullest in the battle with Bazz, where he not only has trained to use his power in a more effective way despite the limitations, but he works in tandem with her and her abilities in a genius attempt to create strengths out of their short comings. Overall I think the best summary of his character that Ive heard from someone who didnt personally enjoy him was that he’s written to feel like the main protagonist of a story that’s not his, and I think that’s a fair assessment.
I think the reason for their screentime in early Bleach arcs stems from their connection to Hinamori and Gin respectively. They have personal reasons that relate to the Aizen conflict which carry on from SS to the arrancar arc till Aizen's defeat. And then to add to that (which makes them being sent to Karakura all the more relevant) there's the connection to Isshin.
the fascinating thing about the 10th div. is that both of them start out with major handicaps - Hitsugaya is a child who is not fully in control of his powers and emotions, and Rangiku had a a part of her soul stolen from her, which likely affects her shinigami abilities (and probably has got to do more with why she is stuck on vice-captain level than her attitude towards work. her laziness always struck me as more of a pretense). they both get beaten down often and pretty brutally in fights and emotionally as well; both are taken apart completely and forced to build themselves up again in many different ways, both physically and mentally. however, their strength lies in their unwavering trust in each other, they always got each other’s back and their caring nature always shines through.
I always liked the relationship between Hitsugaya and Matsumoto. Yes, they are complete opposites but they like each other and work well together and it's natural to imagine them as a team which is something that's totally missing from the relationship between Soi Fon and Omaeda and I never understood why did she choose him as her 2nd in command. Anyway I never kind of understood why both Hitsugaya and Matsumoto - were send/allowed to go to the Karakura Town since it left the 10th Division without its captain and vice captain. By the way Is it known who was the vice captain of the 10th Division during the TBTP arc? My personal theory was that it was Isshin.
Soifon didn't choose Omaeda. His family seems to get the Lieutenant position out of nepotism (Omaeda's father was Yoruichi's Lieutenant back in Turn Back The Pendulum) because of money or something.
Lore reason is because Squad 10 and Squad 13 both protect the living world, specifically Japan. Squad 13 is Karakura Town and Squad 10 is Naruki. I’m guessing Yama isn’t too keen on sending Jushiro on missions, and the Arrancar threat was enough that Yama wanted at least 1 Captain around. It’s not like Squad 10 is really doing anything specific where they need direct orders immediately The irl reason is probably because Toshiro was the secondary main character of the SS arc and was popular. And Rangiku and Toshiro are like a 2 for 1 package
I like the duality both Hitsugaya and Matsumoto display. Seriously dedicated to duty and work vs laziness and wanting to have fun. Nevertheless they both get serious when things get bad and combat commences and both are willing to go all out for friends and allies.
I think my favorite moment of the 10th division is the battle between bazz b and cang du v Matsumoto and hitsugaya the whole vacuum sword concept was cool and I've liked that these had the most balanced vibe where it felt like Matsumoto was able to choose when/who she could fight where other divisions it felt like the capitan was in complete control
I think Hitsugaya may have a tenuous connection to Ichigo, but he may have a far deeper loyalty and connection to Ichigo's father as his former Captain that compels him to come to Ichigo's aid in the Lost Shinigami Arc.
Isshin and Lil Shiro NEED to have a conversation in the TYBW anime. Matsumoto, Karin, and Yuzu being themselves would be hilarious. The tenth division being one of the bastions of good in the Gotei 13 makes me wonder how Ichigo would have turned out if a different captain was his dad. Would he still be a pure bean if his father was a Kenpachi?
Finally my personal favorite division covering my favorite captain of the gotei 13, I really enjoyed the video and I'm glad you pointed out the Ichigo thing because it really does feel like Hitsugaya could have had a closer connection with Ichigo but he doesn't can't wait for the next 2 parts of this series because of the amount of history in the 11th and 12th divisions
Remember, not only is Hitsugaya probably now aware of who Ichigo really is, Isshin was actually present with Urahara when Hitsugaya and the others show up during the end of the Lost Agent arc.

But seeing that Isshin was Hitsugaya's captain, and that Hitsugaya now knows who Ichigo really is, along with Isshin being present when they restored Ichigo's powers, he felt an obligation to come to the world of the living more than likely.
I figured that Hitsugaya was a good character to get focus on in the story because he’s young and inexperienced. This way, the readers can follow a character who is going to make mistakes and need to grow from them, and that seems to be the preference for anything. I’ve heard many people claim that they just don’t like when there’s very little that characters have to struggle with. I guess, to them, it makes them more relatable and human.
I wish there would have been more Matsumoto in TYBW tbh, she got beaten "off- screen" and then other than showing up as a zombie we never see her again. I would have loved her to have some character development and growth in her power. Also I don't think she necessarily "won't" put in the work to gain bankai, or become a captain, I personally think she just doesn't want the responsibility. She's happy where she is and doesn't feel the need to go further. Though I do wonder, if Gin had succeeded in getting back that part of her soul would she gave become far more powerful, is not having it actually holding her back?
I really liked this video. Because the 10th division was always one of my favorites because of hitsugaya and rangiku. But it got me to thinking about isshin and how the whole thing went down with white.
It has ALWAYS bothered me how Matsumoto has one of the strongest shikais but doesn’t use it effectively at all 😭 just like hinomiri brave souls shows some really cool things they COULD do with their zanpaktous but don’t
I love Hitsugaya and Matsumoto's hilarious. However, while I enjoy their dynamic I was very disappointed with Matsumoto's fights. As a lieutenant with a lot of screen time she got injured easily and took a lot of Ls which was very disappointing. In Hitsugaya's case you could say he's young and still learning yet he has a good head over his shoulders. I highly respect him for never running away from a fight and always giving it his all.
I would have liked to also see how Toshiro and Rangiku reacted to meeting Ishin all these years later in Karakura town cause I think they’d want to sit down and have tea together while ichigo and his sisters are out of the house. I’m sure Rangiku would want to at least hit him or something for worrying them which he’d take (like Lisa did to Kyoraku). Also even though it was a filler I really enjoyed the episodes of Toshiro and Karin together playing soccer and I kinda shipped them
I think the Tenth division actually is hinted at playing a more governing role in the Soul Society in tandem with the First division and central 46. There are numerous times in both canon and filler where the messenger soul reaper ( the guy in red with the weird hat) delivers messages that have both the approval of head captain yamamoto and hitsugaya, and in fact the first time hitsugaya is name dropped ( i believe) is during the Ichigo’s fight with kenpachi where the messenger states to Yachiru that he has urgent news which has been approved by both of them. So it could be 1st division is the overseeing head, 2nd division is the stealth force/ sereitei’s secret police as well as assassination and investigation squad. 4th division handles the sick and wounded, strong emphasis on kido. 9th division also handles investigations, 10 division (potentially) legal aspects/ governing branch of sereitei, 11 Combat squad, and 12th being research and development. Also the fact that out of all the divisions, the 10th is the one that we frequently see with large amounts of paper work, and them being the first ones to investigate or even suspect foul play with central 46, leads me to believe that their responsibility may lie with the more legal and orderly aspects of their society. If this is really the case, then someone like Hitsugaya, who is very focused and determined, would be perfect for this job, which may be where he actually fits role wise, despite how much of an outlier he seems like when otherwise compared to his fellow captains.
The closest in age to Hitsugaya are Gin then byakuya. Soifon was a teen 100 years ago while they were preteens . And they are like 100 years older than he is
In the TYBW Anime, we NEEEEEED to see Toshiro and Matsumoto reunite with Isshin. There's no reason why they shouldn't meet up. It would be funny, wholesome and tear-jerking :')
Honestly For me Hitsugaya feels like the reverse of Yamamoto in terms of his potential (Fire and Ice) Then again a thousand years is a long time to confirm this 😂
Does anyone else think it's funny how we don't know majority of the Gotei 13's third seats and below. Like who's the 3rd seat of the tenth division, the 5th division's third seat, Byakuya's third seat, Squad 9's third seat, and Urahara's replacement in the second division. I wonder the reason why is because Kubo didn't have time to make them. Like the 3rd seat of the 2nd division obviously has an excuse since their duties at the maggot's nest takes up majority of the time but for most of the divisions, we're usually only shown the captain and the lieutenant and focus on their relationships.
Really, really hope that Kubo gives the anime the moment between Isshin and Hitsugaya/Rangiku. Please, please I need that. They can adapt a few scenes in the Everything but the Rain flashbacks

21:22 Idk either, but Shawlong was a pretty great arrancar character for the first ones we got to see. Probably because him and the others got to set the mood and show us what arrancars are capable of doing and becoming. Wish they had kinda expanded a little more on him besides the small backstory. All well.
I like the comically huge stacks of paper they always carry around for the administrative paperwork in the squad-leadership. In the Lost Shinigami/Fullbring-arc final battle, I think Hitsugaya actually is the one to make most sense after Shinji. He lived at Ichigo's place for, I presume a few weeks, in the early arrancar-arc and they used to argue about Ichigo not addressing Hitsugaya properly and Hitsugaya telling Ichigo what to do in his own damn house and stuff right? Also thought that moment with Hitsugaya's grand mother freezing to death was added in the Turn back the Pendulum-arc for the anime?
Because of Isshin's former captaincy, I always felt that Rangiku and Hitsugaya were more or less extended family for Ichigo, even if the narrative never actually treated them as such. I dunno, it's just how I interpret these sorts of things.
Likewise a weirder way to think about is Isshin probably hit on a woman that in turn probably hit on his son. Or that Rangiku probably very nearly missed being Ichigo's mother. Which wouldn't have been horrible, it's just weird to think about.
I thought it is implied that Matsumoto would have been stronger/wouldn't have plateaued with only shikai if Aizen didn't steal some of her life force for his sphere.

I've always loved rangiku she's been my favorite vc since the soul society arc. I really wish she would have kept pace with renji and shuhei. She deserved a bankai in my opinion. I think even though she's lazy she definitely has the skills necessary to achieve bankai.
We really need a Rangiku x Gin arc in hell verse. Like Gin dies permanently but directs his reishi to fill the void in Rangiku's soul. Or maybe Rangiku and Haineko, since it was stated that she is actively trying to learn bankai but failing because Haineko is as lazy as her.
So many missed opportunities to have Isshin meet Toshiro and Masamoto on Karakuda Town before the final battle heck, even during the Mod Soul Arc Isshin should have entered Ichigo room while the Soul Society Captains and Lt's were reunited in fact, while Ichigo was getting the news of Orihime disappearance and Hitsugaya team was recalled he should have made an appearance and make Old Man Yama ask him to go for a private chat.

Would be kind of a symbol of where Isshin was from for Ichigo's story... the fact that the 10th division was so prevalent in the arancar arc kinda tells the story of Isshin and his fight with White (which was kind of an arancar) and how their fight led to Ichigo being born
I feel you miss read soifon and her VC's relationship. That is how it is on the outside. But I think it's quite clear soifon does care about him. And the way she goes about talking to him tends to pull out his "real self" and make him a better reaper as a whole. As well as to their enemies they will think that using one as a hostage against the other won't work. And at least in the case for the VC. Her being the way she is with him will make him less likely to get himself killed by giving in to a hostage situation with her if their opponent calls the bluff. Especially given the whole assassin force bit too.
Technically he still defeated him though - characters don't need to die for it to be a defeat. I think the fight is just a draw though, not a win or a loss.
i always felt that toshiro went to fight X-ecution not for ichigo insted he went for Ishin he probably talked to ishin and made him a favor to his former capitan.
Your comment on Soi Fon being the closest in age to Hitsugaya among the captains really took me off-guard. I always thought Byakuya and Gin are younger than Soi Fon. But then again in temperament Soi Fon definitely comes the closest. While in different flavors both Soi Fon and Hitsugaya take on a facade of ice-cold professionalism, yet their more immature traits can shine through. Gin and Byakuya on the other hand not just repressed but totally annihilated their childhood innocence in their journey losing themselves in their roles of vengeful schemer and elite rolemodel respectively. Another interesting aspect is the difference in growth between sexes IRL. Girls tend to start their adolescent growth sooner and reach their adult height earlier as well. Boys will look like little kids a bit longer but then grow up real fast and leave the women in the dust most of the time. And Soi Fon's very lean build changing little over the years adds to that difference. As Gin and Byakuya look younger than her in Turn Back The Pendulum but older than her in present day. But those three are roughly the same age and Hitsugaya is younger by the lot and putting up a definitive order of age in the trio is a very though cookie.
let's be real there are 2 reasons for their prominence in shounen jump: 1) hitsugaya is a similar age to the readers so as to relate to them and being a capt they can project, so use him 2) and rangeku due to well, teenage boys love oppai, and certain ASSets. but your academic reasons are also true.
I wonder when toshiro will grow to an adult form. he's past 40 present days of hell arc. he was 10 when he was 3rd seat under Ishin Shiba. and still he is a child WTF. it's not like his adult form is being short because his Bankai showed us his adult self
i see why hitsugaia was chosen for the mission to the real world, yea he is the youngest of all the captains still beeing a child by soul society standard (wonder how long it takes for someone to grow up from a baby to an addult there, it defenitly not the human world speed thats for sure) but with beeing the toungest he most likely more able to adapt to the world around than the older captains, and its someone at the correct age for itchigos school making it easier for them to blend in with itchigo and his friends. a lot of the other captains would not have been a good fit at all. best would maybe been the 13th or 8th division commanders, first divison no chance same with second division, 4th division could have been a good pick to, 7th would stand out way to mutch and the arogance of the 5th or 6th divison (Cant remember atm) is to big, neither kenpantchi or the 12th division comander is a good pick either, one beeing a crazy berserker and the other an insane scientest. sure urahara might also have a loose screw, but he is not insane in the same way.
Rangiku she is my favorite character because she is very much like me laid back but dedicated and I love her swords ability very much hope one day we do get to see her Bankai
I disagree a little on your opinion that Hitsugaya comming to save Ichigo on the last stretch of the Lost Agent arc is out of character, because while he and Ichigo indeed have not too much to do with each other, Hitsugaya still is the kind of guy that would see this as "doing the right thing", and also maybe thinking of repaying a debt to Ichigo for winning over Aizen.
This was a good video. But a random question popped up into my head when isshin was mentioned. It probably could be a simple video idea or one of those ones that turns out to have a very complicated answer, so Mr Tomo I would like to make a humble request. Considering a shinigami purifies a hollow when they kill them and send their soul on to the soul society (assuming they weren't evil souls gone to hell), how come even though ichigo's Powers are more or less combined now, how come when he kills a Hollow he doesn't ultimately destroy them like a Quincy does?

Going for Bias here but it's Toshiro. I just like how his development is shown in the series. Like you barely see that with the other characters. My favorite moment would have where Isshin was Captain, Rangiku was his lieutenant and Toshiro as his third seat. I was also waiting for this one.
Toshiro is actually my favorite character in Bleach alltogether. I absolutely love his character development and how relatable he was.
He felt like every child fan's dream. A self insert of getting to be a Captain in Bleach. Except he's way more than that.
As for my favorite devision moment? It would probably have to be everything they did in Fake Karakura. Specifically Toshiro stabbing Aizen's illusion of Momo.
I like the way that Hitsugaya is somewhat foreshadowed as having Yamamoto-esque potential, while having a polar opposite Zanpakuto. I really like that dichotomy. The frozen child, following in the footsteps of two of the most powerful flame-wielders.

I always thought that Hitsugaya came off as a secondary main protagonist in Soul Society Arc as he was the one primarily investigating Gin as a possible traitor and Aizen’s “death”, which was the big subplot that led to the finale of that arc. That’s why I really got into Hitsugaya as a character from the start.
Sadly I think one of the biggest let downs of the Thousand Year Blood War is that Hitsugaya was not chosen to go to the Soul King Palace and train with the Zero Division. You would think with as much as they hyped up his potential through out the series (Kyroku suggesting Hitsugaya will one day surpass him, meaning Hitsugaya could one day be Captain Commander Level) that Zero Division would want to help him unlock that potential. If Byakuya had died in the first invasion as I think Kubo originally planned, Hitsugaya would have probably taken his place and train with Zero Division, maybe unlocking his adult form transformation from them.
One of my hopes is that we see Hitsugaya really display his potential in the Hell Arc if that continues. Imagine a scene where the flames of Hell threaten to consume one of the realms or a group of our heroes and Hitsugya’s ice has become so powerful he literally freezes Hell over and maybe Yamamoto in Hell says “It seems Captain Hitsugaya’s ice has come to rival even the flames of my Ryujin Jakka. Truly his is the greatest of all ice Zanpakuto!” I would lose my mind with excitement.
I think with as much as Hitsugaya has been talked about potential wise, and the fact that his age and inexperience is brought up at almost every single encounter, I fully believe that Kubo had planned to showcase an adult Toshiro from the very beginning but wasnt quite sure how to go about it. I definitely agree that not having him go to the soul palace was a missed opportunity, but the reworking of the way his powers worked was a good anime style way to showcase it. Maybe we’ll get some anime only scenes that explain it a bit more, I always liken it to Nel’s transformation, where he probably needs to gather more spirit energy until the timer runs out in order for it to work, which he never really had time to do until the fight with Gerard.
The fact that Toshiro didn’t go to the 0
Division to train is impressive. I don’t think people realize how much of a flex that is for Toshiro. The 3 strongest Gotei shinigami by the end of the arc were Byakuya, Toshiro and Kenpachi
Kenpachi, who was already stronger than the strongest Espada Yammy pre timeskip, became stronger than Vasto Lorde Ichigo in the SAFWY Novel, and then beat the 8th Kenpachi who considered Vasto Lorde Ichigo level fighters as absolute trash compared to him….all before his Unohana training then got special training to re unlock his old suppressed powers, surpassed that original level, grew strong enough to one shot Bankai Unohana, got Shikai, then got a soul Zenkai Boost post Gremmy fight, and then finally unlocked Bankai against Gerard on top of his already beyond Unohana level base and beyond Gremmy level Shikai
Byakuya had a massive soul Zenkai after surviving As Nodt, got special training from the wisest and most powerful Shinigami in all of history (pre TYBW), obtained beyond the mastery limits of his own Bankai as it was already mastered in the SS arc, but grew even further with it, and then got his base stats increased exponentially by the 0 Squad training and rivaled or surpassed Bankai Kenpachi by the end of the arc
Now what about Toshiro? What special training did Toshiro do? Toshiro trained by himself for 17 months, and then when he lost his Bankai, he did a few days worth of basic training to boost his fundamentals. He got a soul Zenkai from almost dying to Bazz B and another from being revived after his zombie near death experience
But Toshiro with 17 months and a few days of normal training and less Zenkai boosts then Kenpachi and less training than Byakuya was able to fight on the same level of on a greater level than Vollstandig Gerard, Bankai Byakuya and Bankai Kenpachi.
If Toshiro did get special training, he would probably be on a level closer to Ichigo than any other character besides Aizen and Yhwach considering what his Mature Bankai could do.
Keep in mind, Mature Bankai Toshiro is just Toshiro’s normal Bankai’s natural evolution, not any special form or power. It’s similar to what happened with Dangai Ichigo where he ages up, but more drastic

My issue with him like many characters is that they had potential but didn’t get enough characterization. When he turns into an adult it’s not that hype for me bc I don’t care that much about him due to how he was handled up until that point. Especially when he doesn’t even win (which to be fair it would have been bs if he did but then don’t write it to where it’s bs)
@@KurokamiNajimi i feel like the biggest issue with the final arc is that the fight against elite enemies was like fighting against abstract concepts. How does one effectively fight against the physical embodiments of God’s wrath and ability to work Miracles, or even against the Imagination of God in universe, who’s defeat still barely makes sense. It was an interesting concept but it ultimately felt like an uphill battle with an unreachable peak to the point where they had no choice but to get Deus Ex’d out of existence.
@@JohnGlow2 My issue with those fights is that you had ppl who were suppose to be below Squad 0 doing better than them who got low diffed. It was literally said Squad 0 is stronger than the entire Gotei 13 which would have included Yama. Also how the reiatsu laws were inconsistent again. Abilities aren’t supposed to work when there’s large gaps in reiatsu but you had stuff like Askin putting Ichigo to sleep, Shunsui’s Bankai being effective against X-Axis, Nanao being able to use that bullshit spirit separation thing on him, etc
Far as Yhwach his defeat was poorly written but I don’t see him as the unstoppable god. Aizen unrestricted and FGT Ichigo are stronger. People forget about the transcended state where you can’t even be sensed by others. Ichigo became so powerful even another transcended person couldn’t perceive his power. I’d argue Aizen’s defeat was even more of a stretch than Yhwach’s. FGT was the ultimate deus ex machina and Kisuke’s Kido staying activate for that long is lowkey bullshit. Whenever I bring this up the only arguments are headcanon like Kubo forgot etc. Yeah an author invented a new realm of power and just forgot about it, it can’t be that they’re simply weaker right? That was the point of the suit, he would have easily kicked his ass if it wasn’t on and been unstoppable. Can’t have that, main characters have to be the ones to finish the job. We don’t even know what would have happened for sure if the arrow didn’t come up Aizen still didn’t use his Bankai and it’s not as if he can die. Other forgotten aspect of the Hogyoku is that it seemingly makes his power limitless. Even if you are stronger he just recovers and evolves. He said he’d surpass Ichigo’s level of power as the Hogyoku determined he no longer even needs a Zanpaktou (fusing with your Zanpaktou was considered the peak of evolution in that fight so him literally becoming one in theory would put him in the next level of power). Other arguments I’ve seen are ppl could sense them because BW characters are stronger. Da fuck? Kisuke and Isshin are as strong as base Aizen who is at the limit of what a Shinigami can achieve and they couldn’t sense him so it doesn’t matter how much stronger other characters got some of which aren’t even at that tier like Orihime, Renji, Rukia. I think most fans don’t really understand the power scheme. They think Ichibei for example is comparable to BW Ichigo. Ichibei is just a Shinigami, that is his limit. Whether he’s among the top or not he is just a Shinigami. If there was ever any doubt of that Kubo literally stated Yama was Squad 0 level before the arc started and the only thing about Yama base Aizen was sweating was his flame (lol). Other arguments attempting to ignore what’s stated is Kisuke saying Aizen was stronger during the BW. No he said he may be stronger, he cannot perceive his power. He said that based on what he showed while restricted. And that’s another thing ppl arguing that the suit doesn’t weaken and all it does is keep his reiatsu close which makes 0 sense. There’s no point in a suit like that nor would make sense that they could contain him. Nanana said he could see his reiatsu which he should not be able to do if he was in the same league of power as before, Nanana wouldn’t be able to perceive his power. Shunsui literally said it was impressive he could remain conscious “while having your reiatsu SUPPRESSED”. When Shunsui released a seal it came him enough power to break most of the other seals, because all of that stuff makes him weaker. Then there’s the Yhwach said Ichigo regained the power to defeat Aizen. That was a bad translation. What he actually said is you regained the power you lost against Aizen. In that panel there’s a picture of Ginjo referencing the Fullbring arc, he was talking about Ichigo regaining any power at all. People could sense Ichigo’s power objectively proving he was no where near his FGT state
Hitsugaya's role was also increased in the Arrancar arc, due to him technically has the an already established beef directly with Aizen in the prior arc, and Matsumoto with Gin.

Really like that talk about "goodness" and "humanity" being so tied up in the tenth division because for much of the story-line particularly in the early parts, the Shinigami a whole came across as cold, uncaring, and even border-line psychopathic in regards to their laws and duties; and to an extent that is all true. The 10th Division in particular helped inject some nuance and decency into the Gotei-13 that made it possible to actually like them as a faction, though they were not the only ones.
I do not think they are out of place necessarily within the Gotei as a whole because keep in mind that the 7th, 8th, 9th, 13th, and 6th (post soul society arc) all seem to have at least comparable values even if they are not as openly human as the 10th.
I think everybody should be grateful for the 10th division's decency whenever I think about Ichigo and Hitsugaya. Isshin was obviously crucial in raising Ichigo and helping him grow up into the man who would be the main protagonist and hero of the story line where he would ultimately help save all the various realms of existence.
As for Hitsugaya, consider Ichigo's observations on Aizen at the end of the Deicide arc; namely that Aizen was always so much more powerful than anyone else around him that he was never able to form any meaningful connections to anyone. This at least in part lead to Aizen developing his God-Complex and psychopathic tendencies. Hitsugaya similarly, is blessed/cursed with such intense power that when he was younger, his lack of control caused him to nearly kill his grandmother and it also seemed to isolate him from everyone except for his Grandmother and Hinamori. I feel it is safe to say that being part of the 10th Division not only gave Hitsugaya a purpose and a place he could refine his control over his powers. But, the bonds he formed with Matusmoto and Isshin were critical in keeping him grounded emotionally so that he did not turn out like Aizen. Now consider that in terms of raw destructive potential Histugaya's Bankai seems to be second only to Yamamot's and I think we should all be grateful he cares about things like "morality" and "collateral damage". A personal theory of mine is that on some level Aizen is aware of this and hates Hitsugaya for it which is why he always took that extra little effort to torture Hitsugaya.
Aizen probably saw his potential and bits of himself in him. think of it. Toshiro looks like a Kid. Hes super young in soul reaper terms. his growth and power level are probably comparable to Aizen back when he was that young. of course he has the better sword ability but he sees how Toshiro can grow.Part of him is intentionally cruel to Hitsugaya as a way of both humbling him but honing his skills. cuz deep down he wished he could've been as normal a genius as toshiro is. but he has certain gifts Toshiro doesn't. Kyoukasuigetsu is probably a sadistic arrogant monster that knows it has no equal among other zanpakuto spirits.
anyways Aizen is brutal to him for a reason and I just wish we had more insight into rhat part of aizens thinking. here's hop8ng he plays a critical role in the new hell arc as well.

If Aizen shows up in the Hell arc, I agree I would like to get some more insight into how he thinks and maybe a flashback showing some detail on how he ultimately became the man we met in the Soul Society Arc.
As for Hitsugaya in the Hell arc, my hope is he is allowed to beat someone who is undeniably powerful and not have it undermined somehow. When I read the manga, the impression I was left with was that Kubo essentially had three things things he wanted to communicate regarding Hitsugaya; (1) that despite his youth, he is very powerful even by Captain standards, (2) his powers have not fully matured meaning he has insane potential for future growth, and (3) that his powers and his Bankai in particular are incredibly dangerous. The problem is that Kubo in my opinion consistently made weird and unnecessary writing decisions that undermined Hitsugaya and thus he did not come across as impressively as I think Kubo wanted him to, this is something I like to call "the Sakura effect". For example, Kubo paid off the hints that Hitsugaya's Bankai was incomplete and revealed a more mature and powerful version of his Daiguren Hyourinmaru near the end of TYBW arc...only to put him up against someone who literally could not die until another broken character decided it was time for that character to die.
On balance, I think Ten would probably be the best division to be in as Toshiro is a competent, ''firm but fair'' kind of leader who you can count on to have your back in a fight. He won't battle you to the death, he won't perform experiments on you, he won't betray you. He's just a guy who clearly expects you to do your best and that's that. His biggest flaw is that he comes off as quite cold and distant, but he's the ice boy so what were you expecting? Besides, most of your interactions would be with Rangiku anyway, a woman who is easy on both the eyes and the mind.
I’d also like to add that Toshiro is also essentially a child soldier, a youth given control of an entire platoon. In a series where legitimately everyone perceives him as a child, and makes comments frequently about his immaturity both emotionally and power development, its pretty understandable that he’d be a stick in the mud and take his duties more seriously than others. I see him written off as having a bad attitude by those who dislike him without ever giving a thought to the position he’s in, when every other soul reaper was his age they were out playing/ fighting in the Rukongai districts.
He has very big shoes to fill and always has since Captain Shiba’s defection, so it is only natural he’s going to be much more invested in his position than others. Which is why I think that he and Rangiku have the best captain lieutenant development in the series. He doesn’t just see her as a second in command to pass work off too, he legitimately has high expectations of her because he more or less sees her as an equal instead of a lackey. There are hints of their relationship sprinkled throughout the entire series, and it is shown in its fullest in the battle with Bazz, where he not only has trained to use his power in a more effective way despite the limitations, but he works in tandem with her and her abilities in a genius attempt to create strengths out of their short comings. Overall I think the best summary of his character that Ive heard from someone who didnt personally enjoy him was that he’s written to feel like the main protagonist of a story that’s not his, and I think that’s a fair assessment.
I would probably say that 4 is also a very good one to be in if u can get to like lieutenant or 3rd seat status.
I think the reason for their screentime in early Bleach arcs stems from their connection to Hinamori and Gin respectively. They have personal reasons that relate to the Aizen conflict which carry on from SS to the arrancar arc till Aizen's defeat. And then to add to that (which makes them being sent to Karakura all the more relevant) there's the connection to Isshin.
There should have been a scene or two were Isshin sees and interacts with them while Ichigo was training.
the fascinating thing about the 10th div. is that both of them start out with major handicaps - Hitsugaya is a child who is not fully in control of his powers and emotions, and Rangiku had a a part of her soul stolen from her, which likely affects her shinigami abilities (and probably has got to do more with why she is stuck on vice-captain level than her attitude towards work. her laziness always struck me as more of a pretense). they both get beaten down often and pretty brutally in fights and emotionally as well; both are taken apart completely and forced to build themselves up again in many different ways, both physically and mentally. however, their strength lies in their unwavering trust in each other, they always got each other’s back and their caring nature always shines through.
Rangiku and Issin having a moment is one of the plot points I've been dying to see
I always liked the relationship between Hitsugaya and Matsumoto. Yes, they are complete opposites but they like each other and work well together and it's natural to imagine them as a team which is something that's totally missing from the relationship between Soi Fon and Omaeda and I never understood why did she choose him as her 2nd in command.
Anyway I never kind of understood why both Hitsugaya and Matsumoto - were send/allowed to go to the Karakura Town since it left the 10th Division without its captain and vice captain.
By the way Is it known who was the vice captain of the 10th Division during the TBTP arc? My personal theory was that it was Isshin.
Soifon didn't choose Omaeda. His family seems to get the Lieutenant position out of nepotism (Omaeda's father was Yoruichi's Lieutenant back in Turn Back The Pendulum) because of money or something.

Lore reason is because Squad 10 and Squad 13 both protect the living world, specifically Japan. Squad 13 is Karakura Town and Squad 10 is Naruki. I’m guessing Yama isn’t too keen on sending Jushiro on missions, and the Arrancar threat was enough that Yama wanted at least 1 Captain around. It’s not like Squad 10 is really doing anything specific where they need direct orders immediately

I like the duality both Hitsugaya and Matsumoto display. Seriously dedicated to duty and work vs laziness and wanting to have fun. Nevertheless they both get serious when things get bad and combat commences and both are willing to go all out for friends and allies.
I think my favorite moment of the 10th division is the battle between bazz b and cang du v Matsumoto and hitsugaya the whole vacuum sword concept was cool and I've liked that these had the most balanced vibe where it felt like Matsumoto was able to choose when/who she could fight where other divisions it felt like the capitan was in complete control

I think Hitsugaya may have a tenuous connection to Ichigo, but he may have a far deeper loyalty and connection to Ichigo's father as his former Captain that compels him to come to Ichigo's aid in the Lost Shinigami Arc.
Also, Ichigo helps in the defeating of Aizen, the one who manipulated Momo xd

The tenth division being one of the bastions of good in the Gotei 13 makes me wonder how Ichigo would have turned out if a different captain was his dad. Would he still be a pure bean if his father was a Kenpachi?
Finally my personal favorite division covering my favorite captain of the gotei 13, I really enjoyed the video and I'm glad you pointed out the Ichigo thing because it really does feel like Hitsugaya could have had a closer connection with Ichigo but he doesn't can't wait for the next 2 parts of this series because of the amount of history in the 11th and 12th divisions
Remember, not only is Hitsugaya probably now aware of who Ichigo really is, Isshin was actually present with Urahara when Hitsugaya and the others show up during the end of the Lost Agent arc.

I figured that Hitsugaya was a good character to get focus on in the story because he’s young and inexperienced. This way, the readers can follow a character who is going to make mistakes and need to grow from them, and that seems to be the preference for anything. I’ve heard many people claim that they just don’t like when there’s very little that characters have to struggle with. I guess, to them, it makes them more relatable and human.
Oh yes , my favorite captain lieutenant duo , I could watch hours of filler episodes involving toshiro and rangiku

I wish there would have been more Matsumoto in TYBW tbh, she got beaten "off- screen" and then other than showing up as a zombie we never see her again. I would have loved her to have some character development and growth in her power.
Also I don't think she necessarily "won't" put in the work to gain bankai, or become a captain, I personally think she just doesn't want the responsibility. She's happy where she is and doesn't feel the need to go further. Though I do wonder, if Gin had succeeded in getting back that part of her soul would she gave become far more powerful, is not having it actually holding her back?
I really liked this video. Because the 10th division was always one of my favorites because of hitsugaya and rangiku. But it got me to thinking about isshin and how the whole thing went down with white.
It has ALWAYS bothered me how Matsumoto has one of the strongest shikais but doesn’t use it effectively at all 😭 just like hinomiri brave souls shows some really cool things they COULD do with their zanpaktous but don’t
Me and my sister used to pretend she was Matsumoto and I was hitsugaya so I feel I will always love the 10 division the most
I love Hitsugaya and Matsumoto's hilarious. However, while I enjoy their dynamic I was very disappointed with Matsumoto's fights. As a lieutenant with a lot of screen time she got injured easily and took a lot of Ls which was very disappointing. In Hitsugaya's case you could say he's young and still learning yet he has a good head over his shoulders. I highly respect him for never running away from a fight and always giving it his all.
I would have liked to also see how Toshiro and Rangiku reacted to meeting Ishin all these years later in Karakura town cause I think they’d want to sit down and have tea together while ichigo and his sisters are out of the house. I’m sure Rangiku would want to at least hit him or something for worrying them which he’d take (like Lisa did to Kyoraku). Also even though it was a filler I really enjoyed the episodes of Toshiro and Karin together playing soccer and I kinda shipped them
I think the Tenth division actually is hinted at playing a more governing role in the Soul Society in tandem with the First division and central 46. There are numerous times in both canon and filler where the messenger soul reaper ( the guy in red with the weird hat) delivers messages that have both the approval of head captain yamamoto and hitsugaya, and in fact the first time hitsugaya is name dropped ( i believe) is during the Ichigo’s fight with kenpachi where the messenger states to Yachiru that he has urgent news which has been approved by both of them.
So it could be 1st division is the overseeing head, 2nd division is the stealth force/ sereitei’s secret police as well as assassination and investigation squad. 4th division handles the sick and wounded, strong emphasis on kido. 9th division also handles investigations, 10 division (potentially) legal aspects/ governing branch of sereitei, 11 Combat squad, and 12th being research and development.
Also the fact that out of all the divisions, the 10th is the one that we frequently see with large amounts of paper work, and them being the first ones to investigate or even suspect foul play with central 46, leads me to believe that their responsibility may lie with the more legal and orderly aspects of their society. If this is really the case, then someone like Hitsugaya, who is very focused and determined, would be perfect for this job, which may be where he actually fits role wise, despite how much of an outlier he seems like when otherwise compared to his fellow captains.
The closest in age to Hitsugaya are Gin then byakuya. Soifon was a teen 100 years ago while they were preteens . And they are like 100 years older than he is
In the TYBW Anime, we NEEEEEED to see Toshiro and Matsumoto reunite with Isshin. There's no reason why they shouldn't meet up. It would be funny, wholesome and tear-jerking :')

Does anyone else think it's funny how we don't know majority of the Gotei 13's third seats and below. Like who's the 3rd seat of the tenth division, the 5th division's third seat, Byakuya's third seat, Squad 9's third seat, and Urahara's replacement in the second division. I wonder the reason why is because Kubo didn't have time to make them. Like the 3rd seat of the 2nd division obviously has an excuse since their duties at the maggot's nest takes up majority of the time but for most of the divisions, we're usually only shown the captain and the lieutenant and focus on their relationships.
Really, really hope that Kubo gives the anime the moment between Isshin and Hitsugaya/Rangiku. Please, please I need that. They can adapt a few scenes in the Everything but the Rain flashbacks
I feel like Hitugaya and Rangiku's dynamic was a more relatable version of Nanao and Kyouraku's except with the rankings reversed
As far as designs go, Toshiro and Rangiku are about as opposite as Kenpachi and Yachiru.

Probably because him and the others got to set the mood and show us what arrancars are capable of doing and becoming. Wish they had kinda expanded a little more on him besides the small backstory. In the Lost Shinigami/Fullbring-arc final battle, I think Hitsugaya actually is the one to make most sense after Shinji. He lived at Ichigo's place for, I presume a few weeks, in the early arrancar-arc and they used to argue about Ichigo not addressing Hitsugaya properly and Hitsugaya telling Ichigo what to do in his own damn house and stuff right?
Also thought that moment with Hitsugaya's grand mother freezing to death was added in the Turn back the Pendulum-arc for the anime?
Because of Isshin's former captaincy, I always felt that Rangiku and Hitsugaya were more or less extended family for Ichigo, even if the narrative never actually treated them as such. I dunno, it's just how I interpret these sorts of things.

I thought it is implied that Matsumoto would have been stronger/wouldn't have plateaued with only shikai if Aizen didn't steal some of her life force for his sphere.
I figure another reason Hitsuguya was sent to Karakura Town in the arrancar arc was because he technically is still a captain in training whereas all the other captains are more experienced than he is.
I've always loved rangiku she's been my favorite vc since the soul society arc. I really wish she would have kept pace with renji and shuhei. She deserved a bankai in my opinion. I think even though she's lazy she definitely has the skills necessary to achieve bankai.
We really need a Rangiku x Gin arc in hell verse. Like Gin dies permanently but directs his reishi to fill the void in Rangiku's soul.
Or maybe Rangiku and Haineko, since it was stated that she is actively trying to learn bankai but failing because Haineko is as lazy as her.

So many missed opportunities to have Isshin meet Toshiro and Masamoto on Karakuda Town before the final battle heck, even during the Mod Soul Arc Isshin should have entered Ichigo room while the Soul Society Captains and Lt's were reunited in fact, while Ichigo was getting the news of Orihime disappearance and Hitsugaya team was recalled he should have made an appearance and make Old Man Yama ask him to go for a private chat.
My theory is 10th division was led by Shibas up until Isshin. Similar how Kuchiki led 10th and Shihoin 2nd

I think (could be wrong) the 10th division was so much in the foreground cause it was the division that Isshin was the captain of before he gave up being a shinigami to save Masaki. Would be kind of a symbol of where Isshin was from for Ichigo's story... the fact that the 10th division was so prevalent in the arancar arc kinda tells the story of Isshin and his fight with White (which was kind of an arancar) and how their fight led to Ichigo being born

I feel you miss read soifon and her VC's relationship. That is how it is on the outside. But I think it's quite clear soifon does care about him. And the way she goes about talking to him tends to pull out his "real self" and make him a better reaper as a whole. As well as to their enemies they will think that using one as a hostage against the other won't work. And at least in the case for the VC. Her being the way she is with him will make him less likely to get himself killed by giving in to a hostage situation with her if their opponent calls the bluff. Especially given the whole assassin force bit too.

I always thought Byakuya and Gin are younger than Soi Fon.
But then again in temperament Soi Fon definitely comes the closest. While in different flavors both Soi Fon and Hitsugaya take on a facade of ice-cold professionalism, yet their more immature traits can shine through.
Gin and Byakuya on the other hand not just repressed but totally annihilated their childhood innocence in their journey losing themselves in their roles of vengeful schemer and elite rolemodel respectively.
Another interesting aspect is the difference in growth between sexes IRL.
Girls tend to start their adolescent growth sooner and reach their adult height earlier as well. Boys will look like little kids a bit longer but then grow up real fast and leave the women in the dust most of the time.
And Soi Fon's very lean build changing little over the years adds to that difference. As Gin and Byakuya look younger than her in Turn Back The Pendulum but older than her in present day.
But those three are roughly the same age and Hitsugaya is younger by the lot and putting up a definitive order of age in the trio is a very though cookie.

let's be real there are 2 reasons for their prominence in shounen jump:
1) hitsugaya is a similar age to the readers so as to relate to them and being a capt they can project, so use him
2) and rangeku due to well, teenage boys love oppai, and certain ASSets.

I wonder when toshiro will grow to an adult form. he's past 40 present days of hell arc. he was 10 when he was 3rd seat under Ishin Shiba. and still he is a child WTF. it's not like his adult form is being short because his Bankai showed us his adult self
i see why hitsugaia was chosen for the mission to the real world, yea he is the youngest of all the captains still beeing a child by soul society standard (wonder how long it takes for someone to grow up from a baby to an addult there, it defenitly not the human world speed thats for sure) but with beeing the toungest he most likely more able to adapt to the world around than the older captains, and its someone at the correct age for itchigos school making it easier for them to blend in with itchigo and his friends. a lot of the other captains would not have been a good fit at all. best would maybe been the 13th or 8th division commanders, first divison no chance same with second division, 4th division could have been a good pick to, 7th would stand out way to mutch and the arogance of the 5th or 6th divison (Cant remember atm) is to big, neither kenpantchi or the 12th division comander is a good pick either, one beeing a crazy berserker and the other an insane scientest. sure urahara might also have a loose screw, but he is not insane in the same way.

I disagree a little on your opinion that Hitsugaya comming to save Ichigo on the last stretch of the Lost Agent arc is out of character, because while he and Ichigo indeed have not too much to do with each other, Hitsugaya still is the kind of guy that would see this as "doing the right thing", and also maybe thinking of repaying a debt to Ichigo for winning over Aizen.

This was a good video. But a random question popped up into my head when isshin was mentioned. It probably could be a simple video idea or one of those ones that turns out to have a very complicated answer, so Mr Tomo I would like to make a humble request. Considering a shinigami purifies a hollow when they kill them and send their soul on to the soul society (assuming they weren't evil souls gone to hell), how come even though ichigo's Powers are more or less combined now, how come when he kills a Hollow he doesn't ultimately destroy them like a Quincy does?
