There was a game kinda like this called Heroes and Generals
Combine it with the persistence and PVE/Neutral gameplay options of Star Wars Galaxies, and a quasi Foxhole style Logistics systems and yeah, you got the perfect game right there. Especially if they add stuff like Pod Racing etc.

having the gameplay of these two games together would have made the classic collection worth paying AAA prices
I've always thought it would be interesting to see a game where each aspect of a war could be played or left to AI. You might be the fleet admiral taking orders from the grand strategist, and it is up to you to determine how best to reach the desired location and fight the battle. But even so your individual ships will also act independently beyond your orders depending on the situation, just like you could if you chose to play as one of them. You could choose to take control of every stage of leadership, or play through the entire war as a single unit beholden to the commands of their squad leader.

you have this option on the psp star wars battlefront games! but controlling the attack is nearly always the correct option
There’s a game called Silica that blends the Top-Down strategy aspect with people having the option to be the troopers/vehicles on the ground. An ai could also be the commander while the players are the boots on the ground
@@derpking3970 I am aware of Silica, and it's certainly a good start. However, Silica is still just RTS/FPS. What I'm looking for is the trifecta: GS/RTS/FPS. Which Silica could be if there was a mode where you had to fight over regions of the planet with GS elements, but it hasn't gotten that far yet.

Imagine if there was a game that combined both Battlefront and Empire at War... Kinda like Battlefield's Commander Mode, but better.
Battlefront 2 (classic) already has something like this. It's called Galactic Conquest. Its nowhere near as detailed as Empire at War's map and gameplay, but its basically a dumbed down version.
@@great2be1 I'm thinking something actually MASSIVE. Like imagine playing Empire at War and seeing units do whatever they want because they're actual players playing Battlefront 2. Like merging both games into one rather than make a dumbed down version of an RTS for an FPS.
The wheel station is one of the most annoying and hardest systems to fight on, mainly due to the janky hit box of the wheel station itself (it has a lotta guns), and the black sun’s usual space defence station spam with a crap tonne of long ranged missiles that rips apart hull and shields, not to mention the AI’s garrisoning fleet
The only time I’ve ever taken out this system without losses is with an SSD + a super death squadron (Vader AND Thrawn), which is practically overkill but it was still a hard fight simply because without micro your dumb AI will prioritise targeting the wheel station and forget about the encroaching pirate fleet, usually resulting in painful death (and half a burning SSD). I like the lore and design reasons of the map, but damn is it an absolute pain to fight in this system
This is an awesome concept and I am all for it. Also Left is Port, and Right is Starboard. As a Navy guy this is pretty ingrained lol. Easy way to remember is that Left/Port are 4 letters and are shorter words then Right/Starboard. :3

Since my Childhood in the early 2000´s i´ve always wanted a Star Wars Game which combines this two Games in which you can for examples assemble you own Fleet or Invasion Force and battle with it in Battlefront Style :O
All things considered the wheel fight wasn’t bad losses-wise. You took out much more than you lost. If I saw 4 skyhooks and a Keldabe I would’ve 40oz bounced immediately
Agreed, the loss of a capital ship is brutal, but he's going to gain so much more from Ackbar and those free, better Mon Cals, not to mention the Wheel itself looks like a great money maker and position to hold off the Imperials.
All because he didn't succumb to your and my immediate instinct, which is 'nope nope ouchy ouch, we're outta here'.
I’d say it’s more on the fence, sure it gave the Black Sun a bloody nose and the loss of a single cruiser in return was a decent trade, but losing one of your most valuable assets against the Black Sun instead of our true rivals in the Empire doesn’t sit well with me, especially since they’ve already got such an advantage

If we could get a SWTOR:Online MMO game with Battlefront FPS ground and space gameplay for galaxy wide battles, I think it would solidify itself as the best star wars game ever made.
that´s like back in the day when you had EAs football manager as well as EAs FIFA game of the same year. The whole mangament part would be done in the manger game but you would play the matches in FIFA. Even your custiomized stadium would be ported over to FIFA.
No idea why such mechanics don´t exist anymore in modern gaming. It´s a real shame

Have you ever considered doing a multiplayer galactic conquest versus against anyone? There are good submods for multiplayer galactic conquest for Fall of the Republic and Republic at War. I've never crashed with the one for Republic at War.

TIE Vanguard's are just a short-ranged recon version of the TIE Fighter. Also they originated from the old West End Star Wars RPG and the old Star Wars CCG.

There was a mod awhile back that smashed together Crusader Kings 2 and Mount and Blade: Bannerlord. Basically, you'd play CK2, but if your troops entered a battle, you'd warp in Bannerlord, fighting in real-time, in first\ third person. I don't know what happened to that mod, but it'd be really cool if someone made a mod like that for EaW and SWBF2 Classic.
I do hope Rebel Admiral Dave wins this. Evil Admiral Rooster is not gonna prevail!
Very impressive results from that battle. I would have just left immediately, or certainly once the first MC75 was taking heavy damage - and saved one cruiser, only to lose the possibility of getting like five better ones, that you now have from your success.
Such an entertaining premise for an episode - like others, I want a game that does this seamlessly. And also realized I have Battlefront 2 Classic just sitting in my Steam library and I could reinstall it anytime...

Long ago I was hoping I could make some SWBF2 mods which would mimick EAW fights, sadly I didn't have enough experience or resources to make that possible.
I used to do this but I had the battle of endor mission in rogue squadron II and would run to my living room to un-pause my battlefront at the endor map and I would Try to recreate the movie by running back and forth.

I never got into this mod, it was wayyyyy to complicated compared to Thrawn's Revenge and Fall of the Republic. (same thing practically)
