Those temp sensors can really mess you up if you don't figure out that this is the real problem; if radiator ever over heats (even briefly), this can be the problem. May be happening now to mine, as in town the rad temp reads that it is getting close to overheating , then speeding up it is fine. Yeah, also effects heat blowing temp.
2012 Traverse LTZ engine Temperature gage alway at 210 and no more. 3 weeks ago AC need a new Evaparator 800 dollars and 3 weeks later the engine Temperature gage keeps going 1 notch above 210 when stopping at red lights. not always but becoming pretty regular. I have no leaks just AC condensation. no warning lights. I have heard the fan running only one time when I have turned the car off but not every time. The car has been doing this for about 4 days now.
Emily Cummings are you getting these codes? Are you getting a warning message on the dash. What is your concern, is it that it’s raising above 210? Does the radiator fan kick on whenever you turn the ac on?
I got this message, and at the same time the temp gauge dropped to cold, so I pulled over and checked. The car didn't seen to be overly hot, nor did it run any different, so I drove home. After some TH-cam research I replaced first the upper sensor (engine), then the lower sensor (radiator). I still get the message, and the gauge still will not rise. Yours was the first video I've seen that says I have to reset the error message, so thank you. If I reset the error message, will the gauge work again? Or should I consider replacing the thermostat?
Chazz McCloud if you don’t have a scanner available try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. Sometimes that works to kill the message. If that doesn’t work get ahold of the scanner. It helps to know what temp the computer is reading. Try the battery disconnect and get back to me.
Sometimes it's just a fluke. Use a scantool to erase and see if it comes back on before going through this process. Codes or no codes, a scantool will erase this.
Hi ! I just purchased a 2013 Chevy Cruze LT 1.4 engine and the first couple of days it drove perfect and then the ac off due to high engine temperature message came up so I took it to the shop to get it checked and they said everything was fine (the coolant system, radiator, everything that could possibly be connected) but today when I was on my way to work I had the heater on and it started to smell like my car was overheating and my check engine light came on and the ac off due to high engine temp light came on ..do you have any clue what I could try next ??
Sounds like you might actually be overheating. Could be low coolant, dirty coolant, water pump, thermostat, radiator fan, warped head, bad head gasket. If it is doing it intermittently at higher speeds my first guess would be low coolant or water pump if coolant looks good and full. If at low speeds or in town stop and go driving I would check fan first.
My daughter has a 2015 cruze and it overheated on her, she opened hood and smoke was coming from the temp sensor area. Would this be the temp housing as well as sensor?
Detroit 187 could be a leak from the housing. Inspect it carefully and replace if necessary. Renting or buying a pressure tester will help finding the leak
Don't understand much about cars, and actually exchanging this next week my first car for a new one!

I ended up replacing the thermostat, and that took care of the issue for now. Cars are fun 🤮

I think I need to fix mines but it turned off the other day and haven't turned back on what do you think that mean
Make sure that your car is not in fact overheating, that’s the biggest thing to confirm. If it turns back on then do a diagnostic on it
Nice vid fer
WHPH _MAD thx buddy
FerKurl
No problem

@@FerKurl thank u sir👍
Have the same issue, changed the thetmostat and 2 sensors and bleed it and it still overheated. What else should I check?
Victor Solis is it actually overheating or is the message/code just coming back repeatedly?
@@FerKurl just the code keep coming on. Not overheating
@@c_daddyvlogmore2333 could very be the sensor. I’d say it’s time to scan everything and check live data
I have a cruze saying the same thing but its not hot at all. I reset and it pops back up and a couple days but the cars is not hot at all
I have that to.
How did you fix?
