The snack which u forgot the name is called "Rolls" And one advice whenever u are in a bus stand u better go to the counter and meet the time keeper and ask for the buses,routes and timing coz not all the public knows the timings and where the buses are parked... Enjoy guys👏😊...
2:24 the actual cost would be around 50rs or at Max 100rs but they charged you 450rs that's ridiculous. Hope u learn something from this experience. Don't trust blindly, atleast do some research before going to any country.

It's similar to roller coaster in other countries. Ministry of tourism Sri Lanka is hoping to promote bus rides to tourists. Good luck.

I know it is not possible always but try to avoid private buses whenever possible and ride on Red ( CTB ) government-owned buses. They are less noisy with onboard music and do not drive crazy. Lovey and have a great time.
Have to disagree-was on an SLTB bus from Pettah to Galle,driver went through red lights,drove too fast ,spent ages looking at his phone while driving on what is a very busy rd.Asked two local ladies what they thought-of course they were unhappy about the situation but said if we complain he will throw us off the bus. I could give other examples-frankly I didnt notice much difference between private/public. Always take the train if its available.

The problem is in your pronounciation boys. Your errorneous and accented pronounciation of the word "Yala" is the root cause why the locals cannot understand you, and being pointed back and forth. Also there is no bus destination called "Yala"'. I don't have to tell you, but a much more sensible way would have been to check "google maps" and selected the bus route which would have shown the end destination of the bus. Also, you could have easily got on to a bus to " Kataragama", which is the end destination by bus to get to the Yala national park.
People were sending you in different directions because they weren't sure what you were saying because of your pronunciation of "Yala" 🤣🤣🤣 One of them thought you said "Galle" when you said "Yala", and those 2 places are in opposite directions from Weligama 🤣🤣 I think it's best to show them the name of the place you want to go to, in order to avoid miscommunication and prevent you from wasting your time and money. That being said, Sri Lanka needs to improve information on public transport and tourist spots. I'm glad you found the right bus in the end!

Nice vlog. Little explanation . When you tried to find the correct bus in Matara Bus station , some guy directed you to Galle bus cue. The reason was your pronouncing of Yala .He thought you are asking Gal-le (Galle) instead of Yal- le ( Yala)national park. Other thing is that fruit you ate in the bus is 'Dialium indum, the tamarind-plum' Finally ' Machang' is a word for using your equal age or younger aged person as show your friendliness . But we as locals don't use this word to adults or elder persons. That they believe it is a kind of insult of them. Please consider this before using this word again . Have a nice stay Machang

You can call very old men Seeya meaning grandpa. You can call very old women achchi meaning grandma. These terms and titles are accepted in Sri Lanka even if that person is not related to you. It shows respect, politeness and friendliness. People love it. A guy younger than you = malli A woman/girl younger than you = Nangi Older brother = aiya Older sister = akka A man bit more older = mama or uncle A woman bit more older = aunty or auntie An old man = seeya (means grandpa) An old woman = achchi (means grandma or nan)

After eating Samooga, you ate a round one that is called as Rolls or Chinese rolls (but it is a Sri Lankan food), next to that you had a triangle one which is looks like Samooga.. It also kind of rolls but have made in that shape.. To know it's ingredient is fish with potatoes., and kind of dried fruit you ate is called as Gal siyambalaa (Meaning is Stone tamarind) thank you, come again to Sri Lanka.
13.35 those are called Rolls (there are various fillings for those fish - fish rolls or maybe chicken -chicken rolls and we also have egg fillings -egg rolls) those nuts are “ siyambala” which is Velvet Tamarind in english ☺️
The fried pastry you were eating on the bus is called "Chinese Rolls". However, even in China they don't make this snack, I was told. However, it's a Sri Lankan favorite snack. We call this type of snacks "short eats".

The "Siyambala" you ate is "Tamarind". It is a fruit mainly used in Curries to add a lightly sweet tangy taste.
No, this is velvet tamarind, kind of sweet... not good to cook....
This is variety of "Tamarid". that is not sutabale to cook. so normally put out the fruit shell and can eat the pulp.
The fruit with the seed is Tamarind. You can buy it in Australia from Sri Lankan and Indian shops.

Nice vlog. Little explanation . When you tried to find the correct bus in Matara Bus station , some guy directed you to Galle bus cue. The reason was your pronouncing of Yala .He thought you are asking Gal-le (Galle) instead of Yal- le ( Yala)national park. Other thing is that fruit you ate in the bus is 'Dialium indum, the tamarind-plum'
Finally ' Machang' is a word for using your equal age or younger aged person as show your friendliness . But we as locals don't use this word to adults or elder persons. That they believe it is a kind of insult of them. Please consider this before using this word again .

@@travisfein You can call guys who are slightly older than you aiya. Aiya means older brother.
You can call women who are slightly older than you akka. Meaning older sister.
You can call men who are much older than you mama, meaning uncle.
You can call women who are much older than you aunty or auntie. Means exactly the same as what you’d know.
You can call very old men Seeya meaning grandpa.
You can call very old women achchi meaning grandma.
These terms and titles are accepted in Sri Lanka even if that person is not related to you. It shows respect, politeness and friendliness. People love it.
A guy younger than you = malli
A woman/girl younger than you = Nangi
Older brother = aiya
Older sister = akka
A man bit more older = mama or uncle
A woman bit more older = aunty or auntie
An old man = seeya (means grandpa)
An old woman = achchi (means grandma or nan)

After eating Samooga, you ate a round one that is called as Rolls or Chinese rolls (but it is a Sri Lankan food), next to that you had a triangle one which is looks like Samooga.. It also kind of rolls but have made in that shape.. To know it's ingredient is fish with potatoes., and kind of dried fruit you ate is called as Gal siyambalaa (Meaning is Stone tamarind) thank you, come again to Sri Lanka.

The fried pastry you were eating on the bus is called "Chinese Rolls". However, even in China they don't make this snack, I was told. However, it's a Sri Lankan favorite snack. We call this type of snacks "short eats".
