It appears that this is a case of the older Jarhead being outdone in the sh!t slinging department by the younger Jarhead who still has to get busy slinging it now and then. I'm 31 and I still remember watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as a kid. Those 2 songs you mentioned are some of the best in the movie. The strong optimism even in the face of failure is what gives those songs their meaning & power. At one point Pott's father is almost drowning in the ocean while riding in the port-a-potty-sized room hanging from the blimp, but he just sings louder and kicks the water out of his room hahaha. Very funny but very meaningful too.
What amazes me about the manure I've put in my garden is how it disappears. I've put 20 cubic yards on it in two 10-yard dumps over the last 15 years, probably enough to cover the entire garden a foot deep, and today it's as if I never did it. And that's not counting all of my own compost that goes on it. Earthworms must eat all of it.

It's on a hillside so the bottom slopes steeply toward the clean-out door so finished product comes off the bottom, not the top. Somehow red worms appeared in the compost even though they don't live in the soil, which makes the pit a favorite snack spot for the chickens. We must be the only people in the world who like to hang out with our chickens enough so we have a park bench at our compost pit, where they ask for lap time in between bouts of worm-digging. Life is good. Even under covid-19 lock-down.
The missus is gonna have you on the back porch, spraying you down with a hose. You should consider using a load to start a mulch pile. Once it's started it's not that hard to maintain, and will do wonders for your garden.
Here half of our land is beside the sea so we use seaweed thrown up by the winter storms as fertiliser it works wonders , as for bullshit and the present and future there's an old saying here " it's the old dog for the hard road'" lol

Hey brother, I'm lucky I've got all the bullshit and cow shit on my doorstep and an actual brother willing to share it. On you hauling it in the back of your truck can you get hold of a string net to lay in the truck bed and a strong tarp or canvas to go over it, so that when you get to the garden you can tie the front end to a tree and slowly pull forward and it'll roll out the back and if it's secured at the back you'll just have to untie it from the tree and lay it back out. I've shovelled a lot of shit growing up on a farm and anything you can do to make the job faster will increase your work return. God bless you all brother. I needed lettuce to go with supper tonight so I walked down in the garden and picked as many leaves as I needed. Haven't planted any for several years, it just comes back up like weeds if I let a couple of pants go to seed. In fact, so much went to seed last year that I harvested enough to put 500~1,000 seeds in each of 40 envelopes to give away. Now I know this hardy red lettuce variety is all over the county and here to stay.
One thing for certain, an old Marine should know how to sling some bullsh!t, that's for sure.
