      Netflix has no idea what to do with its extra-curriculars (notwithstanding the mistakes they're making with their primary product...). They shut down their Tudum platform because it wasn't getting any attention... what's that, you have no idea what Tudum is? Exactly. The marketing outside of Netlifx Originals is just... whatever they're paying them, it's too much or not enough, I have no idea what's going wrong. I like _Punch 4 Punch,_ but I have no interest in subbing to that other channel, so yeah, it's gonna struggle without a Crew push.

    34:20 i commented about this on the Still Watching Netflix TH-cam channel, interesting fact, it has been less than a week since punch for punch episode 2 came out, and they have already uploaded 32 more videos onto the channel, they are oversaturating the shit out of it and not promoting the stuff that is actually capable of getting high views, whoever is managing that channal needs to scale back their upload rate.

    I've been a member of the website since it first came out, and I think that both Jake and Sam are right. I love the serialized shows, Crew Cuts is basically The Office and I always look forward to it coming out. I'm also assuming this is something that you are aware of, but helping to greenlight a show which then doesn't come out for years does suck, because I have to keep paying for the website in the hopes of seeing something that I kinda feel like I already paid for. I know it wasn't done maliciously or anything, it was just a much bigger project than initially thought. What I would love to see are more Corridor shorts ( with a bonus being they would presumably have a faster turnaround than Local Zero). The reason I'm a member of the website is I love the talent and creativity of everyone and I just want you to keep making stuff. Maybe if stuff can get greenlit on the website then it wouldn't need to be quite as youtubey, like Sam's Moth short. I'm sure anything you put up will get lots of views, even if it will never go viral. Also, hurry up and make an action film staring Gui!

    The live stream literally said if you sent in Bitcoin or Ethereum, they would send you back twice the amount. It seemed pretty obvious that it was at least partly for monetary gain. Did anyone on the podcast actually read what the live stream said?

      I can't help but wonder if the fact that they are storytellers inclined them to see the facts as part of an exciting story, rather than just evidence of people running an illicit business purely for money. The bias towards narrative is strong for most of humanity, but the staff here are literally paid to have that bias.

    Punch 4 punch is a great series and frankly deserves better than 'still watching Netflix'. Everytime I look at it, it seems like a clip channel that is ripping off netflix shows, rather than a official netflix business channel. I noticed that P4P quickly gets buried by shorts in the channel list and becomes difficult to find. Would really hope to see P4P in the main streaming service.

    These guys misunderstood the scam completely. The video said that Microstrategy was doing a crypto give away. The hackers were hoping people would scan the QR code and “send bitcoin or etherium, and we’ll send you back double the amount.” The hackers then just keep the crypto and don’t send any back obviously.

  • @RGMS_
    @RGMS_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    This "Free etherium" is the scam, they will say "If you send me 1 ETH i will send you back 2 ETH", and in the end they dont send anything back, its a pretty good strategy because its impossible to track back, and its been going for much more than two months, i've seen channels being hacked to do stuff like this a year back

    I was on my YT sub feed right as it went live, it jumped from 3k to 10k to 200k in under 5 minutes. Not something even the biggest livestreamers can do unannounced.
    Most likely the 200k was botted accounts to drive engagement and push actual users into the 'trap'.

    • @Schepeppa
      @Schepeppa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I 100% agree with you. There is no way even the biggest of an celeberty, youtuber/twitch streamer or not, would get that many viewers. Buying bot accounts to inflate your view count is common among these types of things and reletivly easy to do.

Crew Cuts is still my favourite show, but I find myself bingeing it every couple of months randomly, when I have the free time. Whereas something more self-contained, I can see myself marking the calendar for and getting a bowl of popcorn ready to sit down and watch.

  • @Toberumono
    @Toberumono 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Actually, some nerds did some digging. Turns out that this scam is basically using an edited version of a real interview. And… yeah, they aren’t doing this with any malice towards the channels. They just scoop up every channel that they can and slap the same thing on there and wait for the money to start rolling in. Sad thing is that it works (to an extent - the startup cost for the scam is functionally zero at this point, so almost anything that they get is profit). The reason they didn’t clean out the channel is because it’s an unnecessary risk - all of the things they did are non-destructive operations, which means that there are less checks in place against them.

    I see what Sam was saying about wanting the content on the website to be serialised as you are paying on a month by month basis, but I would not feel ripped off if there was a single video that had a lot of time and energy put into it. Especially if you are making something closer to 15-20 minutes, it would feel much more like a short film. Netflix has shows, but Netflix also has movies. You are essentially following this model on a smaller scale. It makes sense for you to have shows, but it could also make sense for you to have short movies! Thanks for keeping me inspired!

    Maybe not an idea for a repeatable storyline, but a one off Corridor. It'd be fun to do a Roger Rabbit/Chip and Dale type of thing with an animator. Doesn't have to be astronomical in cost, if you plan the shots and use CG for blocking, that saves tons of time in layout.

      There is a session hijack attack that bypasses 2fa. Basically, they can make their Chrome browser look like it's your Chrome browser, and if you have an active login from your browser, then that login transfers to their computer and they don't need your password or 2fa code. My understanding is the attack is usually accomplished through an executable file that they email to you, such as by pretending to be a sponsor and they send you an exe that is supposed to be the installer for their program.

  • @ngfaentertainment963

    #superdome is a good idea in my opinion but I think it was on the stuntman react show that someone mentioned that a stunt competition would give stunt people the incentive to go too far eventually and hurt themselves. I think a way to combat that is to make any injury an immediate disqualification in the name of safety but then still use that stunt clip for some kind of short piece at the end. This is bc I personally believe if a stunt person gets injured if it's in camera that's a shot that needs to be used. I also think that reinforces the incentive so maybe the main thru goal should be pulling off the stunt to a degree where it's the one a director would use over anything else for a short at the end. At least a small piece at the beginning going through how you're addressing safety concerns is probably a must too. This seems like it would be more work than punch4punch overall but have them wear trackers and then you could have lots of reference material maybe

Some being personality driven like crew cuts, some being more educational ones like wrens experiments,challanges, vfx and stuntmen reacts and then some more so pure entertainment or storytelling like Son of a dungeon and wizcops. And once in a while greenlight a singular video, because personally I still want to see films and not just crew type videos

    About what the personal gain of the hacker was, generally these stream say that they are giving a big giveaway with a link (this link doesn't show on description, only on video, maybe to not get flag by youtube automatically? idk). In this link it promises that can double the amount you sent to them and sent you back, but of course, they don't double it, they never give it back. So it was not a attempt to raise bitcoin or something like that. They usually use some big millionaire guy to seem more authentic, this happen a lot in other streams, they usually use elon musk with a QR code on video stream.

Pretty much like a X Artists React episode just out in the wild and more production behind the scenes stuff.
    As for what id like to see on the platform, its mostly usability stuff. The main one being I would REALLY like it to not autoplay content I've already seen. I view the platform as a way to further support you all because I enjoy your content, I don't need more pull to want to go there. I chose to go there and pay because of exactly what you do on youtube. I still consume most of your content on youtube honestly. Id love a punch of punch spin off though if you want a specific point to content on that platform.

    Also a thought on motive. It’s possible micro strategy has an affiliate marketing program. Many affiliate marketers use black hat means to generate leads. Affiliate marketers can be anyone. The entire spam industry is built on affiliate programs.

      VPN wouldn't help them here... And the hacker was using a VPN making it impossible to find who he was. So it would be promoting having protection against being caught this case?

    As those attacks are basically identical it sounds for me as some exploit published and used now by independent hackers 'trying it out'. On the other hand it's strange that TH-cam is aware of such problem and was not able to prevent it with some additional checks/confirmations with other admins. Maybe it's not common enough, nor worth it to develop such changes.

      Recently YT has been struggling with many things. My page shows me many videos I have already watched or videos I don't even care... Even the page doesnt load videos so I have to refresh it. Today I noticed the app is being changing again and commenting is less comfortable. I have no idea how they run this platform so badly 😭

    Even though the original subscribers like us know what the channel was meant for, the live stream of a million subscribers channel will be delivered to more new users who don’t know what the channel originally was like. They are the ones who watch the live and think the TH-camr got millions of subscribers by dealing crypto currency. And they are the ones the hackers meant to cheat.

    As a coridor Digital sub we want one offs sometimes. love the series stuff but a lot of us want some one off stuff(just fun af one off videos.) I have 35 greenlight points with nothing to put them into. Ps. I see Sam's point but as a fan from the start, I disagree. Give us some one off content between the series content. Love yall!!

    its good that youtube did what they did when people reported what was happening *nut* its also not, because people could potentially weaponise that by just mass reporting a channel because they dont like someones opinion on it despite it being valid, and it'll get taken down

    I was convinced for the majority of that hack video that it was fake and at the end they were gonna say gotcha. It was kind of overly produced and cheesy. I'm still confused why they made that

      @@Jazmunky to us it is clear that Russia is consolidating their share of a new multipolar order by doing exactly what the US has been doing for the past few decades. In fact, despite their awful methods (the same as US ones) they actually have real political, strategic and historic reasons for going to war, even though we now that's mostly just an excuse.

      This was also my reaction. Almost all developed countries have committed both foreign and domestic atrocities at some point in time.
      Just another conspiracy: it could be a totally different country performing these hacks and making it look like Russia, just to fuel the already fragile relationship between them and the USA....

    • @davearmano5344
      @davearmano5344 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jawbla101 that's it. To me it's clear that the 'problem' here seems to be the decline of US monopoly in that matter. As if invading other countries was just business as usual.

    the thing mr beast did wasnt half as bad as what japan did to a comedian once back in the 90s, where they isolated him to a room with no clothes or anything. and he had to survive on sweepstakes prizes, food clothes everything had to come from them. and to get out he had to win items of value till he hit a certain amount. turns out that it took him a year to do it. so they secretly transport him when he wins.....to another room, and they do it to him again, except this time in korea, where the way out was to earn the money for a ticket home. he had got so good at the sweepstakes that he hit the mark in no time, so without telling him he'd won, they raised the target to a second class ticket, then again to a first class ticket. they were basically trying to keep him there as long as possible because of the views they were getting. Moist Critkal did a video on it thats great i highly suggest you guys watch it. its nuts what they did to this guy. At least Mr Beasts friend had clothes to wear.

    I have a theory that a session was stolen from one of the corridor pc's and that's why it didn't trigger an 2FA. Also this migth explain why they did not cause more damage, because if the session expires they can't log back in. Also as Sam mentioned SMS 2FA is not that secure, use an app for it instead.

  • @BrownCoatFan

    If you guys decide to fund TH-cam videos using Greenlight, maybe you could provide bonuses to subscribers? For example Corridor subscribers get access to a BTS or extended BTS, or record an exclusive Commentary audio track for the videos.
