I remember flying from Australia to Singapore and after checking in my luggage at Perth airport I remembered that I had a small baggie of weed in one of my pants pockets. When I realized that that particular pair of pants was not in my carry-on I made maybe the hardest decision of my life by boarding the plane anyways. It luckily turned out alright, I got my luggage without any issue and went into the first toilet I saw and flushed the stuff before anything else could happen. I'm not religious but man I was sweating balls and praying when I walked through security with my luggage in Singapore. Googling before boarding the flight told me that most foreigners that are caught with minor amounts usually spend a few days in jail before being bailed out by their embassy at which point they have to leave the country. This isn't guaranteed however, as Singaporean law doesn't specify amounts, any amount carries the same penalty. In the end it comes down to individual judgement. It wasn't like I was expecting the worst but as a 20 year old with next to no money even getting off 'easy' would have meant a big financial burden so I counted my blessings after all went well. Compare that to Australia, where I literally bought weed from the boyfriend of a police officer in her house.
Now compare both of those to Canada where we are legally allowed to posses up to 30 grams on our person, and as much as we can smoke at home. Also allowed to bring up to 30 grams on domestic flights. I really hope the US/AUS/UK catch up and legalize federally
