Yeah, when I think of science TH-cam, I think of people like NileRed and Anton Petrov. Someone who does science experiments and someone who is a great science communicator
I classify Simone as a Maker. Allen too though he goes a little more on the science side and ton more on the engineering side. She does some science stuff sometimes and some of what she does is engineering but only in terms that Makers use engineering.

I don't know how Autotune actually works. I just assumed Alan mixed it up with the Fourier analysis, that was used to detect the seismic activities of underground nuclear bomb testing.
Similarly, the vocoder was invented as a means of encrypting voice transmissions and save on bandwidth and was used during WW2. Just happens to be usable in music as well.
Sadly this isn't true. He has confirmed in at least one interview while he had worked for Exxon a few years prior before he started his own company doing "...signal processing on seismic data.". In the VICE article Im pulling this from he stated "There was really no overlap between the two, other than a point in time."

Have gone into engineering after being a pharmacist for a decade (largely because of these guys), its beautiful to think that the enthusiasm for wanting to make things isn't lame anymore
About auto-tune coming from earthquake analysis: Fast-Fourier transforms were developed for seismic analysis of underground nuclear testing. Discrete fourier transforms decompose complex waves into their constituent waves, your voice is a complex wave so it can be decomposed, auto-tuned and recomposed. DFTs existed for a long time but were too slow and computationally expensive until the FFT algorithm was invented to analyze underground nuclear testing.
Touching upon the influence Mythbusters had: Adam and Jamie were a huge influence in my decision to study mechanical engineering. Having the knowledge to turn real life into a snadbox where you can create things was alluring, and when I finally delved into it I wasn't prepared for how incredible it really is. I remember fondly when taking circuits analysis that one of the optional labs (because COVID made doing all of the labs difficult) building an frequency decoder. The circuit itself is simple, but the supporting math blew me away because of the quirk it reveals. Jamie and Adam should feel proud inspiring an entire generation of of new engineers with their show.
Fun Engineering fact: Technically, in most states (including mine) you cannot legally call yourself an engineer without a Professional Engineering license. I think the reason is that they don't want people utilizing the term and misleading people into trusting their work thinking they have someone who has passed board exams, like someone calling themselves a doctor near/around medical practices without specifying M.D.... So, technically without that license would be opening yourself up to legal challenges by the state board, but I've never heard of them taking legal action for verbal statements, but putting it in writing in a contract would definitely be an issue, especially if you're not paying taxes as an engineer in the area you are performing the work. I have many electrical and mechanical friends from college who call themselves "engineers" but don't have licenses and nothing has ever happened to them, but in the civil engineering field it's taken very seriously, and I know the board of professional engineers who governs the profession in Florida takes it pretty seriously.
I love how it's like two science/engineering youtubers and a domestic terror youtuber. And also Aleksa is there. The look on Simone's face every time Alex freely admits to crimes. Russian-Australian is just too powerful a combination.

TH-cam engineers could be misinterpreted as like engineers who design and fix the TH-cam platform itself I think?
because only one of them is an actual engineer. but yeah, science youtubers doesn't really sound right. more like builders or makers.
Yeah, when I think of science TH-cam, I think of people like NileRed and Anton Petrov. Someone who does science experiments and someone who is a great science communicator
