    Thank you so much for your help, can't believe that Microsoft doesn't accommodate Apple Users. Very helpful, it worked perfectly out of Dreamweaver and Text Edit.

    Great video...can you explain how I can create a theme font that has one font for the header and a different one for the body text?

    • @MagnasMedia
      @MagnasMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the question. Yes, it is the same process. Use a different font name for the second section of the code. I will aim to record another video that explains it more.

    So, where to grab that XML code you showed? This is helpful, right up to the "do it yourself" part.

      Please check the links below the video. It points to a blog where you can download the code from a dropbox folder.

    Thank you for this. It amazes me how drastically different the Mac and PC versions are. I really don't get it.

    • @MagnasMedia
      @MagnasMedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, different code style. In general Microsoft works better on a PC and Adobe Products work better on a Mac. But PowerPoint is still the best option even on a Mac. I still recommend it to all my clients as opposed to Keynote or Google Slides.

    It's so bad that they haven't optimized for Mac users yet. Having to do these types of crazy workarounds is just insane. It's no wonder people prefer MACs.

    • @MagnasMedia
      @MagnasMedia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed. Specially for a simple change. It works for the colour, but not the fonts. Very strange. Hopefully they fix it soon!

    Thanks for this, sooo helpful! I have one question! In the branding I work with, I need to use the Medium font weight for headings. Since you don't recommend defining the font weight in the xml-code, is it possible to define the style for the Bold button/shortcut on Mac? Thanks 💖

    • @MagnasMedia
      @MagnasMedia  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad it is helpful! The reason I don’t recommend medium is because some font variations don’t work well in PowerPoint. PowerPoint might not know how to bold a medium font. Do some testing as some fonts work, and some don’t. You can still define it as medium in the XML file and have it show up as the default. Do a test first and ask users if they plan to user font variations in the heading. If the heading is always medium, it should be fine. If there is a mix of bold and medium, that is where some issues can show up.

    Hi there, this was so helpful and made me feel validated! Question, however, I believe I've done the steps correctly - with an XML being created, saved in my theme fonts that I found by making a custom color palette first, and the font is named precisely as it is in my computer. However, in PPT, I only see "Office" under my custom fonts under my master theme drop down - nothing else is showing up. Am I missing a step?

    • @MagnasMedia
      @MagnasMedia  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Glad the video was helpful! If the font name in the xml is not an exact match to the font name on your computer, sometimes a hyphen or space can make a difference. Try restarting PowerPoint to see if that resolves the issue.

    Thank you so much for the video! I‘m on a mac. I did everthing as you said, got the font shown up in PPT, but when i choose it nothing happens 😞

    • @MagnasMedia
      @MagnasMedia  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad it helped! Make sure you also have the font installed on your computer. Or it could be the font name in the xml is not an exact match to the font name on your computer. Sometime a hyphen or space can make difference. If you have the font installed, open it on your Mac and match the exact spelling in the xml file. Another issue could be to restart PowerPoint so it picks up on the new fonts.

    This is a great video, super helpful.
    Question, can you assign a header font and then a different font for body? When I tested I could only assign a single font.
    If I share this file, will it look for that XML file? Do they need that theme or just the font installed?

    • @MagnasMedia
      @MagnasMedia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad you found it helpful. Yes you can assign different fonts for the Header and Body. Once the theme font is picked the other user will not need the XML file. But they do need to have the font installed on their computer.

    • @piemp-kin
      @piemp-kin 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MagnasMedia Thanks for the reply. I can't see how to assign a header and then a body. It only allows me to select 1 custom font. I am on a mac. Thanks

    • @MagnasMedia
      @MagnasMedia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Change the theme and select one font for the heading and one for the body. On a mac, you need to do this with an XML file. Once you upload the XML file to the right folder, you'll be able to select a new theme. Once you have a new theme in place that supports different fonts for a heading and body, you'll be able to make a selection.

    Hey! First of all, thank you so much for your videos, they are very useful!
    I'm trying to create an .xml file for my costume font that is Gotham, but my process is:
    1.opening dreamweaver to create a .xml file
    2.copy and paste the code that is on the website you mentioned.
    3. saved it in the font theme file
    But when I try to do the fina step that it would be opening the font in the master slide in power point, the font is not there.
    I wonder what's going on, I would really appreciate your advice on this. Thank you so much for the amazing content!!

      Glad the videos are helping!
      If the xml file is saved in the theme folder and you have the font already installed on your computer, but it is still not showing up in the PowerPoint Theme font dropdown menu it could be one of the following:
      1. Restart PowerPoint so PowerPoint can refresh the files.
      2. There is a minor error in the XML file. Sometimes one character can mess up the code

    Thank you for this helpful tutorial. Do you know if you pick a custom font and someone does not have it installed on their computer, can they still use it? Or is it best to stick to the system fonts offered by Microsoft?

    • @MagnasMedia
      @MagnasMedia  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the comment. Not all fonts work with PowerPoint. I just created a guide on the top 35 free fonts to use with PowerPoint and I will be recording a video about that soon. In the meantime you can get the free guide on my website. It is a 52 page PDF with the best fonts from Microsoft and Google that work on both desktop and PowerPoint Online. Not all fonts work in the cloud even if they are installed on your computer. Check it out and let me know how it goes.
