Important fact: Sasuke's 1st element is not Fire, Sasuke's 1st is Lightning that is why father said it is early for you, That is why father upset because he doesn't know lightning jutsus to teach Sasuke, that is why he said it won't be like Itachi's because Itachi is fire user too, Sasuke using fire is equivalent of Naruto using Earth or Water. The father is shocked because Sasuke used fire like fire user at very young age, only jounin level ninjas use 2nd element.

God bless Atsushi Wakabayashi who directed this timeless masterpiece (133) and Norio Matsumoto who animated almost every iconic scene of the episode.
People mostly talk about how good the animation/drawing looks, but few people talk about the direction, storyboarding and such, while it's just as important. It's not about how it's animated, but what is animated. Camera angles, shots/frames themselves, transitions, usage of sound, music. That's why this is so great.

Naruto is known for his fantastic well written fight! These are not just random punches but well balanced power dynamics involved.
That's why I like Naruto more than Dragon Ball. In Dragon Ball, it's just random rapid fire punches and kicks. With Naruto, it's actual martial arts forms with good choreography.

Manga/anime takes so many liberties with how they depict characters of various ages. A character like Naruto looks like a 10 year old and a character like Itachi looks like a 30 year old (in that scene) when they're both supposedly 13. Meanwhile they have female characters with hourglass shaped bodied and boobs the size of their heads and are like "oh that character is 12" like wtf is this shit

Personally, I dont think Itachi looks 30 here. That being said, I don't think Itachi had an exactly known age here yet. His design DOES look around low 20s imo. Naruto is pretty bad about plot consistency with a lot of background scenarios, like how Naruto supposedly had no friends growing up, but they kept making him look like he was friends with Choji, Shikamaru, and Kiba at an early age.

@Sassaparilla I see your point. At first they made it seem like every parent forbid their child from hanging, but later Choji and Shika are cool with him so it is a little inconsistent. But then again, even if he gets to hang with them an hour out of the day, they go back home to their families, while Naruto is ostracized by everyone else the other 23 hours, so the loneliness is still very real.
Simply one of the best stories ever told in an anime.
To this day, I still consider this fight one of the best in all of anime 🔥 so glad you decided to start this journey, and it only gets BETTER in Shippuden

One thing that I always appreciate in early Naruto is that the more you rewatch it as an adult the more you find yourself to notice very not kid material and be amazed how mature it is.
I had this ark on DVD disk and were rewatching it constantly as a kid but my favourite moment were always fight. Now as an adult my favourite moment is that moment with Shikamaru. Sending bunch of 12-15 years old to such mission is mind boggling. And from such mission everyone ot only came alive but also take down 5 ninjas with average Jonin level potential. No wonder Shikamaru cried out after hearing everyone is survived. That is MIRACLE.
As a kid you just think that is what is supposed to be since they are main characters. As an adult you just in a shock. It immediately reminds you that this is the world after war. Previous generation of kids fought in a World War of this universe at the age of 13 and this ones are trained and raised by the standards of training them to new one. This is indeed an ark that molded that boys into men. OG Naruto were way mature for its intended audience and that is beautiful
Naruto never was a kids show. It's a shonen, which literally meant for teens and it shows. A lot of pretty heavy, adult stuff and imagery, definitely not meant for kids.
I also love og Naruto more than Shippuden. It feels more gritty and grounded and more mature somehow, in certain moments at least. Also had this old school feel to it, especially in the early episodes. The drawing quality on average is better, IMO.
And also while Shippuden ost is great, but og OST is just a masterpiece.
28:00 biggest plot twist is Sasuke is not natural Fire element user, Sasuke's 1st element is lightning and Itachi's and the Father's 1st is Fire that is why he said it won't be like Itachi's so the Father can't teach Sasuke stuff because Sasuke is different than those 2, The Father doesn't know Lightning jutsus so he is upset that he can't teach Sasuke, That is why the father said it is too early for you to use Fire, then he got shocked because Sasuke just used fire style like fire user, that is jounin level shit at very young age, if Itachi done such fireball he wouldn't have shocked because it is Itachi's 1st element, but Sasuke wasn't even in academy yet he used Fire it is equivalent of Naruto using Earth style or Water style ! Fire style is a sort of natural element for the whole clan , pretty much every uchiha can use fire element

I do know that Fire Style was the most common affinity amongst uchihas(which is why fire-ball jutsu is a staple move of the Uchihas), but from what I've read in the manga you only have 1 initial nature transformation affinity, but you can go out of your way to learn and be adept in another Nature transformation before ever learning the one you have an affinity for.
And that's what apparently happened for the likes of Sasuke, Kakashi and even Boruto.
Cause they got naturally good at something they didnt have a complete affinity in, initially...
Unless maybe I'm mistaken and there can be varying degrees of affinities for mulitiple Nature transformations?
...OR Kishimoto (the author) hadn't come up with the idea of each ninja having a genetic affinity for one element of ninjutsu yet. It was never stated at any time in the og series and multiple ninja are throwing different elemental attacks all the time, like Kakashi, Sasuke, and even the Hokages. When Kakashi first introduces the move we later know as Chidori during the Zabuza arc, its just called "Raikiri" (Lighting Blade), then when Sasuke learns it we learn about its "true" name, which is clearly something he came up with later and decided to retcon. Nevertheless, every time Sasuke uses Chidori he never says "Lightning Style" or anything like that. I'm pretty sure these are just flashy magical spells that in theory anybody could learn if they have enough chakra, chakra control, and practice with weaving all the handsigns
Naruto and Sauske is basically a battle of:
"To love and have lost" vs "To never have loved at all" Naruto never knew his parents and have always been alone while Sauske had people who loved him and that he loved before they where all taken from him

Dawm, back then, when this episode first aired in TV, this was crazy. Back then, we had a anime TV magazin in germany that was called Mega Hero. In this Magazin they showed pictures of Sasuke and his cursed mark design with the one black eye. This was a month befor the Sasuke retrieval arc aired. And this picture of Sasuke alone was enough to hype all of us up. 🔥🔥

Even now with Naruto finished the entire Naruto vs Sasuke part 1 and part 2 fights are just the best. Who would of thought across all these years, back in 2005 to when they fought again in 2016. This journey spanned our childhood. Can't beat it.

THE PEAK of Naruto (before Shippuden). It might be a hot take but this is the reason that Naruto>One Piece for me. The fights in Naruto are most of the times insanely emotional and "heavy". Also, everything else that culminated to the fights follows the same principal. One Piece has by far the better world-building but character-wise Naruto will always be the #1 of the big 3 and it always manages to keep me emotionally invested in fights like this one.

Naruto has two villains , one is it’s major protagonist and the other it’s unlimited number of same back story visuals ,, the same visuals keep occurring again and again ,, but still I am crazy about this anime ,, it’s storyline is awesome and it has some of the best anime characters

Just looked up that song. It's dope, I associate it with Naruto telling Sasuke "take a good look at my way of the Ninja" such a wholesome thing to say, like his antidote for all of Sasuke's emo stuff is to respond with positive vibes, remind him that there's more to life than pain and loss.
I think my all time favorite Naruto soundtrack is another unreleased one sometimes called Choji's theme or Kimmimaro's theme, but it plays during the Sasuke fight a lot as well, its peak "sad" music
