First Time Winter Camping with our Puppy

- On this adventure, we go hot tent winter camping with our puppy for the first time. We make camp on a frozen lake and spend a few days in the backcountry enjoying the fresh snow. Our Alaskan Malamute puppy Lucy loves the winter weather and it was great to take her camping in it for the first time.

If you could rethink your tent and stove model purchase, what would you change if anything? Would you spend the extra $23 and go for the Shortwall same size 8x10 but more room? Alaskan Jr as apposed to Trekker stove?
I wouldn't change anything about our tent and stove model. We have another larger 11x11ft canvas tent and Alaskan Kni-co stove that works great for up to 5 people. We wanted the smallest/lightest possible set up for 2 people and the 8x10ft crew with the trekker stove works great for us. We have had it out in -40 weather and have been comfortable. She's pretty good and getting better every day with training. Heading out on trip for 2 weeks tomorrow. Hopefully she enjoys extended time in the backcountry.
I like the training method for a future sled dog.
The water jug works great. On our next 2 week trip she will pull a small dry bag with her own food in it.
What a lovely adventure! It looked so nice out! I am surprised the lake is frozen enough already with the warm weather we had this year. Holy cow, Lucy is a cutie! The smaller lakes freeze over pretty early but it took longer than usual for the bigger lakes in our area to close up. She sure does add to the world load sometimes, but she's having fun! Thanks for watching 🙂

An excellent overnighter Paige and Alec. Lucy is ideally suited to your winter conditions. I suppose with the chewing of the face cloth, might she be teething at the moment and the chew distracts her from the discomfort of her teeth?
Hey, ya just something quick and easy to get her out and into the swing of things. I think she is done teething, she was more so just bored and looking to cause trouble 😅
The hot tent fits three! Nice little trip with some real snow which we don't have down here in Southern Ontario. Keep adventuring!
