This should have taken place in 69. They were the true love in this story. You can see the love and hurt in her eyes when they were playing that game in the living room and she found out William named the comet after her.
Yeah. But 50 years of separation only to be reunited when he is an old man is just such incredible pathos, it really packs an emotional punch. Her relationship with the younger guy can never compare. Plus that guy just seems to be...there. They don't have much chemistry and he's kind of a creep at first in the way he won't take no for an answer when they first meet. He's basically a plot device to get to the big reveal. It makes me think of the romantic chances in my life that I passed up that still sting 15-20 years later, and I'm half Ford's age.
This scene is genius from the way it develops. Adaline sees William 0:06 and her expression is perfect: it's that gentle smile for someone you feel love for, she's just happy to see him. But as soon as he approaches her in 0:10, her intuition tells her something is up and she should be worried... At 0:16 she takes a good look at him trying to read him. At 0:21 she makes a last attempt at deflecting the truth with a disbelieving smile...
I imagine if someone somehow became immortal today they’d have to live similarly to how she does in this movie. Also it’d be really sad because like her everyone around you would be aging and eventually died.
There's a movie about that called The Man From Earth. He lived about 14000 years, the movie is him "hypothetically" discussing his life with fellow college professor at a farewell gathering.
When I hear people say they don’t want to age and live forever, I could never understand why anyone would really want to. Seeing your loved ones pass away especially if you are married and have kids and outlive all of them no way I would want to do it.
Ford is a force of nature. He goes away for awhile in the 2000s, then comes back and does Indy IV...not the greatest flick. So he keeps acting in his 70s, Age of Adeline is his best role in a long time, and then at 80 he decides to make one more Indy film, and brings incredible energy to the role when many people are sitting in the rocking chair. I think Indy V is great and makes up for Indy IV. And it fulfills LucasFilm's original planned contract to do five Indy films, from 1981 :)

Imagine if this was an elder Han Solo or Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) who lost Princess Leia or Marion when they were young as she just disappears from his life. Then 30 years later, while looking the way Harrison Ford does now, he meets someone looking exactly the way Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) or Marion did in the original film, not anywhere as old as him. That is the same effect.
With all due respect to the character of William, He DOES NOT understand how Adaline feels. Yes he had his heart broken by her, but life enabled him to still find love and grow old with that love. Adaline will, if things go semi-normal, will keep seeing the cycle of love and losing her love in an endless cycle.

In Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford's character finds out his girl also slept with his dad. In Age of Adeline, Harrison finds out his ex girlfriend is now sleeping with his son.
I thought the Lively character sucked. The mother daughter scenes lacked parent child vibe. She played the role as if she was a depressed ugly duckling. It was a bit of a stretch to pretend Ellis was clueless that the cat had kittens.
That acting by Ford is just pure gold.
I know, I hope he and Blake do more movies together!
Yep that Ford is one bad mutha f*cka
I almost thought it wasn’t acting, like Kevin Costner
They are driving Jeep in this scene, not a Ford
What Blake did was not acting, tjat blinking with her left eye, it was all superb realistic!
"you can't imagine how much it hurt". "Oooh, I think I can" this resonates so much with me that it shakes me to the core.

Yeah I thought it would be about them two. I don't like how she ended up with the son.
Yes, and the chemistry between the actors was there, unlike between her and Ellis, and the actor who played young Ford was such a good casting choice.
Harrison Ford always delivers
Everytime
Their acting, ESPECIALLY FORD'S, is sooo good that every time I even watch just these scenes, I end up crying 😭
Just watched this movie wow.... A romantic drama without any boring all the cast acting superb...
Why not watch Godzilla vs. The Smog monster instead. It's more exciting.

Indiana came full circle. First bedding his father’s blonde, now giving his son his blessing for his own blonde ex.

He's had practice with that line.
Mr. Ford rendered me speechless with his acting in this role !! 👏🏾 ⭐️⭐️⭐️👑❤️❤❤ He basically gave a masters class in this one !
