Thanks for the content. It's always refreshing to watch someone document their trips to the zone.
      As for tips,
      a) if the run looks like it's capsizing, don't be afraid to restart. it can be easy to get into a soft-locking spiral,
      b) a good early task route would be rostok-garbage-yantar (the north-western exit at garbage leads you to wild territory southern exit that you can use to quickly scoot to Yantar), these areas are relatively safe and can net you easier quests for quick and relatively cash (e.g. Butcher's hunting quests),
      c) if and when you can, invest in an axe - trader supply level 2 -. keeping a good sleep cycle is tough unless you like going out at night. the axe has an inventory option - by right-clicking it - where you can chop wood if you stand in front of a tree. the axe's condition will degrade but it'll tire you out. it's a lot cheaper to maintain an axe than buying sleeping pills. And if you can learn to dance with mutants an axe is a good way of saving bullets while building up your strength,
      d) on that note, upgrade your knives. pelt qualities now scale off your knife tier, you can see the range of pelt conditions your knife can get you,
      e) if basic tools look scarce, save up 7 full bottles (21 uses) of vodka. you can trade them to the trader, Spirit, at Yantar for a basic tool set.
Hope this helps. And I look forward to next video.

And if you're desperate for a quick money infusion you can also sell mutant meat and parts to Butcher though i'd keep them to turn in for quests within my base of choice,
      c) if and when you can, invest in an axe. keeping a good sleep cycle is tough unless you like going out at night. the axe has an inventory option by right-clicking it where you can chop wood if you stand in front of a tree. the axe's condition will degrade but it'll tire you out. it's a lot cheaper to maintain an axe than buying sleeping pills. and if you ever feel like dancing with mutants, an axe can be a good alternative as long as it's not a giant or controller,
      d) on that note, upgrade your knife. Pelt conditions are now tied to your knife tier, you can hover your mouse over your knife to see the pelt condition ranges it can get you,
      e) if basic tools look scarce, save up 7 full bottles (21 uses) of vodka. you can trade them to the trader, Spirit, at Yantar for a basic tool set.
      f) try to establish a "base" as soon as you can. you just need a place of refuge where you can store your excess gear and things. Rostok is a good place to settle if you can. It has a good amount of traders and has a high stalker count so you can cherry pick the quests you know you can commit to.
Hope this helps. And I look forward to next video.

My GAMMA journey went like that:
First hours: getting beaten by everything, healing after every punch, always hungry because of that. Probably zero understanding of mechanics, crafting and weapon repairing is Wishgranter's wizardry. "Why am I always hungry, why is the healing yellow?"
Midgame: some knowledge about stuff, comfortable weapons, bookmarked healing items. Running errands to get spare money. Able to repair and maintain favourite weapon. "Clean the weapons, take the quests, and go look at that main story"
Lategame: knowledge is now wisdom, geared up. Repairing items became a simple thing I do before/after a journey. Created a collection of guns that I liked that I switch between. "How about... This gun now?"

Start up new game in Rostok, get the upgraded 1911 starter choice, purchase 50 hydroshock rounds, take bunch of hunt missions in garbage, do as many in one day as possible. Hand in quests, get multitool and restock. Dismantle weapons and sell anything under 60%. Always keep an eye out for artifacts.
Get stash locations, gold ones might contain basic tools. Use scrap metal and wood to create a workbench. Store all craft able loot in workbench. Pay attention to the crafting system and upgrade early and often.
Make sure to keep good pistols early on as they are extremely easy to repair and very effective.
Repairing light and medium armour in the game is very easy once you have the tools and workbench all set out. Once you are established, you can put on those extra pair of pants and do the main missions.
    Good luck.

I've never actually used TOZ-106 and PM as my starting loadout and I'll never suggest using them as part of the starting loadout to new players of GAMMA.
Reason No.1: TOZ-106's performance is lackluster. 20ga deals less damage than 12ga buckshot, and also don't have access to slugs. For new players, they don't really know how to dodge mutants' attacks. So with TOZ-106's low rate of fire and low magazine size, they will struggle even against low tier mutants like boars and blind dogs, as they usually spawn in packs. Against hostile stalker, the performance is still lackluster. It'll do the job if you get close and aim for the head, but it's still nothing comparable to how much damage a 12ga slug can do.
In order to utilize TOZ-106, you'll have to cheese the AI's pathfinding by standing on a tall object so they can't reach you, or dodge the mutants' attacks like you're playing dark souls or something, which is not something I would expect new players to effectively do on a regular basis.
Reason No.2: PM sucks. The only 9x18 round worth of using is 9x18 HP (Hollow point). Which when paired with high ROF SMGs, can straight out beat almost all semi-auto or full-auto shotguns in terms of Time-to-kill when used against mutants. However, PM is just a pistol. Without high ROF and full-auto capability, you'll have a bad time dealing with a pack blind dogs, let alone against other mutants. It is very effective when engaging with stalkers without a helmet though, usually one shot or two shot them if you headshot them. But you could do that with your TOZ-106 as well.
Reason No.3: TOZ-106 don't have parts that are commonly used in other good early game or mid game weapons. You would want to find a pump-action shotgun and fix it up as soon as possible as having one fixed up can increase your capability of dealing with hostile mutants and stalkers alike. However, you'll find out that TOZ-106 doesn't have a lot of parts that can be taken out and used to repair a pump-action shotgun.
My personal choice when I spawn as a loner is a Kiparis, a respirator, a leather jacket, a binocular, and all the meds I can get. Kiparis only cost 300 points, less than TOZ-106 plus PM combined (TOZ-106: 375 points, PM: 125 points.) and it has high ROE, perfect for engaging with mutants when loaded with HP rounds. Two of the possible spawn points for loner are Rostok and Cordon, both are very close to Garbage, where Butcher, a NPC that sells the cheapest Hollow point rounds in the game.(Technically he shared the same price as the Forester, a NPC located in the Red Forest.) This is very important as SMGs' ammo consumption is high. Without the proper tools and resources to craft ammunition, vendor is the only way to keep it topped up. However, 9x18 HP round are not that cheap, and will vastly reduce the margin of profits if you use them in your mutant hunting quests. So getting to Butcher and buy the cheapest 9x18 HP really helps you save more money and do hunting quests more effectively. You should still try to find a pump-action shotgun and fix it up ASAP as 12ga buckshots are the most cost-effective anti-mutant option in the game. But using Kiparis should keep that journey as smooth as possible. And it can deal with hostile stalker in a pinch as the HP rounds deals very high damage to unarmored targets. Try hit bandits in the head, they'll die in one or two shots.
And with the rest of the points dedicated to Medicines, you can save a ton of money and give yourself more rooms for error, as medicines are incredibly expensive in GAMMA.
You could take 3 medkits (6 charges), 2 Ibuprofen (6 charges), 2 Yadulin, 1 Metamizole Ampoule and 1 Fentanyl. They will easily cost you more than 20k rouble if you buy these from a faction medic.(which has the second lowest price of medicine in the game. The cheapest vendors for the medicines are Ecologists. You can buy some meds from Sidorovich in Cordon as his price for the medicine are the same as faction medics.)
Also, as this loadout contains binocular, you can scout ahead and avoid wasting your precious 9x18 HP rounds on enemies that are not your mission objective. A binocular will make your early game much easier as you'll know what you're dealing with and not getting yourself into a fight that you don't want to start, or getting ambushed by enemies.

    • @q55102gj
      @q55102gj 26 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

Now I have finished the video, I can see you have experienced the pain that the enemy takes a buckshot to the face and still lives. That veteran is wearing a sphere-8 helmet, and a 20ga buckshot to the face is definitely not going to one shot him. I don't think 9x18 AP can penetrate that helmet as well, so you might as well stick to your 20ga.

I'd _really_ suggest against starting with the TOZ-106 unless you're deliberately seeking a challenge or just love the flavor it brings. I think it's a bit of a trap for newer players. it's by far the worst shotgun in the game, with pretty mediocre damage made far, far worse by the absolutely brutally slow fire rate and reload time. just about any other starting weapon will serve you better. a sawed-off 12g is just a better shotgun with more common ammo. any sort of rifle has actual range. any smg will be more effective at the same ranges. and even the .45 pistols make for a pretty reasonable start if you're patient and pick your fights carefully.

What if you could get sling accessories for some weapons that make it impossible for enemy zoners and burers to take your weapon or knock it out of your hands?! Like that rope-sling thing Kyle Reese makes in 'The Terminator'. Or it could be a regular sling.
4:18 A 20-gauge slug should do the job, even from that distance and fired out of that stubby barrel. The bore diameter of 20-gauge is 15.6mm or .615 caliber. A slug would be contained a wad and would be slightly slimmer than that. That's still a large chunk of lead with a lot of energy behind it even if it's slower than the average rifle bullet.
11:41 Shotguns don't use bullets. Slugs don't count. They're sort of their own thing.

I wanted to toss a few helpful early game progression tips at you, but got a little carried away. You may know some of this already, but I hope it helps regardless!
Crafting and gear upgrades are locked behind the level of toolkit you have available: basic, advanced, and expert. They don't spawn in set locations in Gamma, the easiest (and maybe only) wayto acquire them is from stashes. Basically, talk to every friendly stalker you see and do jobs for stash locations and hope a kit is in one. The basic kit is always the most difficult to find.
You won't be making much money from the start - almost all of your job rewards will go into buying food, ammo, and healing until you can craft your own. Grab a hunter's kit from the train hangar NPC in Garbage and butcher all the mutants for parts and meat - the ecologists in the Yantar bunker pay the most for mutant parts and artifacts!
Make a stash somewhere and keep all the cigarettes, magazines, mutant parts, etc. instead of selling them unless you really need money - many jobs a stalker might ask you to do involve bringing them cigarettes and other vanity items. Having a stockpile to turn in like that will always net you more money than selling outright, plus the chance at getting a tool set.
Weapons cannot be purchased in GAMMA and traders will not buy broken ones. Technicians will buy weapon parts that are 60% quality or better, you can field-strip those off anything you find and save them to sell or save them for a weapon you want. The only way to get new weapons is to put them together yourself, which is why the tool sets are so important.
On that note, technicians will only clean the barrel of the weapon when you pay them, but they sell everything you need to repair the parts yourself. If the part you want to repair is sitting at 64 quality, you'll need an item that can repair

@@Eridium2 You're very welcome! Just keep in mind that GAMMA is heavily geared toward survival and planning, and usually bleeding to death when a cat slashes your legs.
One more for you - also make sure to rip the patches off all the NPC armor you come across, those are also worth money and are often requested for a job. There's a disguise system where you can rip your own off and put another on. Just remember to take it back off before you go back home, allies won't hesitate to shoot you in the face if you're rocking a bandit patch. xD

A lot of the information in the posts is simply not true.
      1. In 0.9.3 (the latest version of GAMMA), the very first yellow stash will always spawn a basic kit. Making the grind for basic kit much easier. The official patch notes for GAMMA 0.9.3 in github mentioned this change in Progression section of the patch note.
      2. Even in older version of GAMMA, the technicians will buy all parts proven that their durability is not lower than 2%. Technician will also no longer clean or repair your weapon as that option has already been removed in older version of GAMMA.
      3. PDA has a tab called "Taskboard". Since that mod has been added to GAMMA, you no longer need to run to every stalker you met to ask to see if they have any task. You can press "Refresh Task" button in the Taskboard tabs and see all quests available in your close vicinity, and you can also remotely accept these quests. (but not remotely complete the quests as you are still require to return to the quest giver to receive payout.)
      4. The first stop of the main quest isn't Yantar. It's your faction leader. Even the second objective isn't in Yantar as well, it's the sixth step of the main quest that will lead you to Yantar if you don't skip any of the steps.
      (Faction Leader>Great Swamp>Agroprom Underground>Rostok>Army Warehouse>Yantar)
      5. Addressing to the added comment above. I don't think manually rip the patches off the armor of the fallen enemies will grant you more patches, nor does ripping the patches off the armor that you looted in the stashes. You can loot one patch per enemy, and that patch in already in their inventory.

@@q55102gj Outdated information, it sounds like. Saying it's simply not true makes it sound like I'm being purposely deceptive. o_O
      1. The only options when I played were luck from stashes or doing the quest for Hip, but finding the shotgun and ammo were also RNG. Even then, I'd rather keep it for myself.
      2. That wasn't a thing when I played either, the threshold was 60%. It sounds like making money has been made a lot easier.
      3. The taskboard was added after I last played, it seems. The only option used to be talking to every single person and asking if they had work.
      4. For the sake of efficiency, when travel can be so dangerous early game, you can save up 30k then go straight to the bunker.
      5. Also a QoL they've added since I played. The old routine was right-clicking every weapon, unloading, field stripping, then ripping the patch off the armor.
Sounds like I need to pick the game up again once I'm done no-lifing PoE2. xD

Honesty, i know many people think that GAMMA is a much better game that S2, but its not really a fair comparison. GSC is relatively small, with a bunch of rough patches in the dev cycle, and development being reliant on funding. But with GAMMA, peoole have had 14 years to become experienced with the engine, and improve their skills. No reliance on money, either, so funding was never an issue. 500+ mods from many different people/teams, many 3, 4, 5+ people. So, probably like 1500+ people with their hands in development. Theres has just been way more hours and experience in developing Anomaly/GAMMA vs S2. And thats on top of the GSC devs who built the foundation. Honestly, more dev hours than even a AAA CoD title have gone into making GAMMA what it is. All from straight passion and dedication, too, and not just as a product meant to generate profit. Honestly, there really isnt anything else like it out there, that anyone can just download and play (or even that you can buy).

Early game is the hardest to conqeur inside stalker gamma. Its a modpack that can easily make it hard for new people to get into stalker. That being said it is my favorite modpack and worth breaking the perverbial wall with your head for. But if this is too hard take a look at EFP. Its more action based and less survival challenge based.

S2 is a bit too little Gamma and Gamma is a bit too much Gamma. You can tweak and adjust as needed yet overall, Gamma is really good and shows what can be done. Also think I prefer the older game map layout to the rearranged lot, seems to add more permanence and importance to certain areas.

I'm sure STALKER 2 will get there one day and it's gonna be AWESOME! But until that happens GAMMA is the absolute KING. There's just no debating it. Everything is so well designed and fucking BRUTAL. Enemies are CRAZY sneaky. Never fails to make for GREAT shoot outs! Just have patience. The unlockable factions (Renegades, Sin and UNISG) can be accessed by just typing "Renegades", "Greh" and "UNISG" in the faction-select menu, not requiring the player to have finished the faction's respective storyline quests - those are RLY hard to play and fun if you want full on madness !

I dont like the comparisons between stalker gamma and stalker 2, stalker 2 is like the old games and while i belive they should have expanded the gameplay more, its more of the original trilogy in therms of gameplay, stalker gamma is basically tarkov in the zone and thats why everyone loves it, in stalker 2 you re experiencing the story, in anomaly and its modpacks you re experiencing survival day to day in the zone

Unfortunately a ton of people who played stalker Gamma first are going to say it's better than Stalker 2 SPECIFICALLY because of it's features or mods in the modpack. Even I understand this as common sense and also at the same time will notice they're seperate games. But the reality is a ton of people will still prefer Gamma over 2 because of that same reason.
I enjoy both games since I originally started playing Stalker SoC back in 09. But this is just how some people see and will compared these two games.
