- it's my first time EVER playing a final fantasy game and i have been having a blast! i heard great things about final fantasy vii remake and thought to give it a try. this is one of my first RPGs i've played as well, and i'm ready to dive more into that genre, especially more into final fantasy games!

the end is HERE!! i had such a good time playing through this game. it was one of my favorite gaming/streaming experiences ever!

I think it's time for you to watch a video that explains the whole Final Fantasy 7 story.
That way you also understand the ( let's say, flashbacks ) in this game and you will understand Why ZACk carrying cloud is actually a big thing because this is not what happened originally.
The video i post you is extremely good it explains everything. In my opinion the story of ff7 is one of the best in video games.
After watching the video you will also understand why people see Sephiroth while he is actually not there. His real body is somewhere else the whole time.
You will also understand WHo is JENOVA and why Sephiroth keeps calling it Mother ... ( its not his mother )... its an Alien.
It's the reason why Aerith's people died 2000 years ago.
The games story also explains Who were the CETRA ( the ancients ) and how HUmans came about. They were once the same race.

Trust me watching the video is better than playing the original game because even after playing the original one time many people still don't get the full story. The video explains it reallt good.

Sadly, the only time Cloud was genuinely happy was his first mission with Zack and at the end of Advent Children.
Basically the first part and last part of Cloud in the FF7 saga.
What’s worse is that Zack basically took Cloud as his disciple cause he saw Clouds resolve to want to be a first class soldier. Zack at the very end had 2 people he valued more than anything and now they’ll never truly know what he had to go through to get them back.
REMAKE isn't just of the game, it's of the timeline. The 3 future beings are Kadaj and his crew from Advent Children.

The whispers are fighting to preserve a certain timeline, a certain series of events, a fate. Those three are FROM a future reliant on that fate.
Notice as the party tears apart the Arbiter, they're exposed to pieces of the timeline they'll be subject to: The events of the original game. Once the arbiter is gone, NOTHING is binding them to the events of the original game. Which ultimately led to Sephiroth's defeat.
That's why Aerith is terrified with the choice in front of them. They're tossing a way a timeline in which they win into one with completely unknown events that could lead to half the team dying, Seph winning, etc...
@@RicochetForce Knowing what we know now, I would argue we don’t defeat Sephiroth at all in the OG. We defeat his physical form but his spirit not only manages to survive in the Lifestream, he actually infects it which eventually allows him to return. The Planet trying to heal itself causes a lot of death and the scene with Red and his cubs is one a planet devoid of humans. It’s a win for the Planet but not for our characters. Which is why we combat Fate itself in Remake, to rectify that tragic outcome.

I think the remake is an alternate timeline but the original timeline is still canon to the universe in a way as if it had taken place in a past life cycle or something
I'm sure someone has mentioned this to you at some point, but the 3 whispers you fight are intended to be the 3 advent children, the main antagonists of the FF7 movie
The music that plays here is even called "Arbiter of Fate - Advent"
It's just one of many things that makes FF7R both a remake and sequel at the same time, which I think is pretty neat
this is fan speculation only, the creators have admitted to a lot of fan theories but this one they have neither confirmed nor denied so no, it is not a fact.

For one, something not being explicitly confirmed doesn't exactly make it a fan theory, plenty of games leave important elements down to subtext and implication, and the implication is certainly there from the weapons they use, their elements, their descriptions, as well as the entire final boss sequence effectively being an advent children final act reenactment.
But if you do want more explicit confirmation from developers, you can read FF7 Remake Revisited Chapter 18 where the following question is asked
Q: "Whisper Rebrum, Viridi and Croceo seem to represent Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo from FFVII Advent Children, fighting to save their own future (referencing the entries that appear after using the Assess materia on each). Is this true?"
A: "The Whispers are capable of forming monsters from all the memories in the flow of time, and I think that includes the characters who exist or will exist in the timeline as well."

so because phantasms of fate use the weapon styles of three 'people' that existed then they are "intended to be them?" so because Zach is the inspiration for Cloud's fighting style and weapons, he's not just similar to Zach, Cloud IS Zach? no.

This game is fascinating to analyse from a meta perspective... Take the fight against the Whispers: There we are, sitting a safe distance away from the screen and harm, controlling our 3 characters, fighting against 3 entities controlled by the Harbinger which sits in the background, a safe distance away from harm... It's like we, the players, are playing against a representation of ourselves/FFVII's past.
That's precisely what it is. It's fighting to preserve its timeline/series of events using the fighters and skills that exist during it. The title FFVII Remake is cool double entendre.
i've watched A LOT of reactions and playthroughs of this game and yours is my new favorite. the editing alone would place you in the top tier but your personality and reactions put you at #1 for me now
I am so sad they didn't bring the full story to this version. The story in ff7 original is so much fuller and it would answer all of your questions too...

Having played the original FF7, you now know that if it wasn't for Zack, Cloud would have been one of those hooded guys with numbers on their arm. These people basically underwent through the same experiment to become Sephiroth and only Cloud was "saved". All of these guys are also from Cloud and Tifa's hometown. That's probably why Tifa cares about the other guy living beside Cloud's room.
Everytime Cloud kills Jenova or Sephiroth manifestation, he's actually killing someone from his hometown. Maybe one of his childhood friends.
It's also what makes the scenes with them in FFVII OG so tragic. When Sephiroth cuts them down to send their corpses and cells to Jenova it's pretty grim.
Watching this and seeing the ending again really makes me think we're seeing two timelines merge. In addition to Biggs the gloves and headband on the table belonged to Jessie suggesting that she escaped as well. Also, the little picture of Stamps was drawn in a different style from all of the versions of Stamps in the rest of the game. They're really leaning into the idea that the story might deviate from the original FF7 so it'll be interesting to see where the next game goes.
Oh, we're most certainly looking at 2 different timelines. But they're not merging.
The party defeats the whispers which were working to preserve the existing FFVII OG timeline where Seph is defeated. Why? This is the best outcome for the Planet.
The second timeline is presented when we're shown Zack. As you said, that Stamp design is completely wrong. Not just that, without Zack dying the entire starting events of FFVII cannot happen. Cloud won't have the buster sword, won't contact Tifa for the Avalanche job, Zack would likely go to Aerith in Sector 5, because Zack wasn't killed in the outskirts that means he'll still be hunted by Shinra, Cloud and Zack just arrived in Midgar while the main timeline just left etc...
My guess is what we're seeing with Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie in the ending is their fates in the alternate timeline that Zack is in. Zack will likely wind up with a party of his own. Biggs, Wedge, Jessie would be a good start.

Such a great game. Easily my game of the year for 2020. Can't wait for the Crisis Core remake in a few months because I never played the original and of course we have FF7R part 2 coming end of 2023 :D

There is a reason final fantasy 7 became one of my favorite was because of the remake its amazing game with awesome characters and incredible world building and honestly it's square Enix poster child so it will be handled with care the remake regardless of how certain toxic fans think of the remake. Loved the journey! And I agree-- while OG might give you insight as to what's going on, I really wish I didn't know the story so I could start fresh again, so I think you're doing yourself a big favor going in fresh.
It's a shame you didn't play the original and crisis core first. Knowing the connections the characters have and their "fate" which the arbiters are trying hard to maintain adds an extra level of meaning. Zack surviving is interesting, is the Cloud we play the cloud taken to midgar by Zack or the one who cried over his body, declaring he will live for him and dragged himself to midgar. Then where is Zack through this whole thing or has those two realities merged yet or not, will there be 2 different mindsetted clouds, maybe that's what causes his headtrauma. Also I'm hoping for a Denzil DLC since he is about at this time sifting through rubble

Someone may have mentioned this before but it's worth repeating; Play the original FF7 before playing Crisis Core Reunion. Crisis Core spoils the biggest twists of the OG. If you are considering playing anything next, on stream or off, play the OG.

Aerith is tied into the lifestream of the planet,VII is a sequel not a remake. Remake is a metaphor for what sephiroth is doing to the timeline
Bingo. This Aerith is hearing/feeling knowledge of the other timeline via the Lifestream. Sephiroth is also working off prior knowledge and forcing a do-over because his ass refuses to die and fade away.
It’s also a remake in the traditional sense, you still go through the same exact story beats of the original Midgar portion.

So since youve already finished this and the OG ff7. It wont be a spoiler to say that the whispers are trying to "correct" the timeline or events that is happening. They are trying to make sure that the events of OG ff7 will happen cause thats the correct timelime. Thus they injured jessie so cloud would help again the avalance. They stop hojo from revealing to cloud that he's an experiment and a sephiroth clone. And they revived barret cause he's not supposed to die there.
That means the ff7:remake subtitle doesnt mean its a remake of the game. It means remaking of their fate. When you killed that big boss giant whisper you "remade" fate at destiny, affecting the timeline. Thus making zack survived.

It’s ‘a’ timeline, not a ‘correct’ timeline. With timelines there is no such thing as a correct one because they’re all correct to the ones that live in them. The OG timeline is the one where the Planet isn’t destroyed by Meteor, but it’s also the one where Sephiroth survives in the Lifestream, Geostigma exists and humanity dies out.

Zack is the most popular character in the FF Franchise
I understand that you played this a long time ago, but I dearly and humbly suggest, to not spoil yourself by diving to deep into theories or allow others to spoil it for you. I understand you have tons of questions, and that is the point, the delicious fun is in it all coming together. Like any great mystery, or epic tale, knowing everything that happens or getting told it second hand will take a good bit from you.
While you do not have to play the OG, it would not hurt a bit.
If you did want to jump down the rabbit hole that is FF7, then after playing this game and Yuffie DLC. You may want to play OG- 97' or just wait for FF7 Ever Crisis, which may have better translations. Then play, Crisis Core, the pre-quel and maybe just watch Dirge of Cerberus. Important to watch the film, advent children. And then you will be setup for part 2 just fine.
Stream all of this, you and your fans will love. I would also use a friend to help remove spoilers.
I already finished the DLC and the original FF7 :) I’ll be watching Advent Children soon, and then I’ll be playing Crisis Core Reunion when it comes out this winter!

Zack is the true Hero of FF7
He is? Zack is a corpse in FFVII. All we see of him in the original FFVII are flashbacks of what happened in the reactor, bringing Cloud to Midgar and being killed off in the rain on the outskirts.
I think the OG might spoil the surprises, making them less impactful, but we'll see I guess.
Just play crisis core. All the answers are there
