FF7R so far is the only game I have ever played where I experienced hard mode as a true elevation of gameplay. Hard mode made me truly fall in love with this battle system. It had that “this is how the game is suppose to be played” feel. Such a rare and beautiful experience.
I enjoyed it but didnt love it. Disabled item use as the ~true gameplay experience~ in a FF game (while items continue to exist throughout the game as item box and quest rewards and it's just blanked out in the combat menu) is awkward and inelegant balancing at best. Made it feel kinda tacked-on.
This has got to be my most prized platinum, it’s such an amazing game and really tests you in stages! The Hell House and Boss Gauntlet in NG+ still give me nightmares 😂😂
Hell House becomes considerably easier once you figure out exploiting elemental weaknesses. Honestly Elemental is one of the most important materia in the game when used effectively. My first boss fight with Reno was a major pain (also because I hadn’t fully figured out staggering and Clouds counter attack ability ) but fighting him on hard mode , I had Elemental +lightning on my armor and he was healing me though out the fight That boss rush fight on hard mode is still a major pain with no items to replenish your MP
Hard mode was a delight in FF7 Remake, it made you play the game in a different way and more cautiously with managing your MP and with no items. Cloud is also my favorite video game protagonist of all time. Good video!
It was definitely fun to play, but it also showed me without the shadow of a doubt that I had absolutely no idea what I was doing before. With quite a few of the bosses I had to look up what I was supposed to do exactly, because on easy or normal you can just mash buttons and win eventually.

I would have blown my brains out with 84 hours in the game. There’s 15-20 hours of filler in the game (not the side quests you can choose to do or not) just stuff like the sewers and train yard and hojos lab where they make you go around and around getting basically nowhere and ruining the momentum of the ending. The original following behind sephiroths blood trail is great and intriguing and they change it all around and have you follow purple goo. Idk, the padding and awful story changes just made it really tough for me to finish it. I’m loving rebirth far more just having the open world freedom to do things the way I want. To me there’s a great 20 hour game buried in remake somewhere.
a strat to use in other FF games if a boss casts reflect on your party, use black magic on your party to reflect it onto the boss, and you can also cast reflect on the boss so the boss's healing magic heals you and such etc.(in some FF games) i think this is a fun mechanic.

ABSOLUTELY AGREE! FF7 Remake was my all time favorite platinum, it has such a great balance between fun, challenge and mastery. Spending more time with the characters and lore made for an even more impactful final trophy.
I literally just took down sephiroth on hard mode without using any OP accessories, or any broken strats just recently. All I did was I adapted to the situation since I was running low on MP when I started the final fight. And boi, I pulled off a tight clutch at the end of the fight thanks to Bahamut! Might try and get all of the achievements for this game since I was having too much fun challenging myself when playing this game!

This was the very first platinum I ever got, I received a PS4 almost 3 years ago as a gift, I wasn't expecting it at all cuz I never receive gifts lol (exactly 1 day before the release of the PS5) and it came with a code for 1 year of PS Plus and 3 games. I think it was a few months later (like 3 or 4) that FF7 Remake was a PS Plus monthly game, I played that game nonstop until I got the platinum (I have 8 now), hard mode was so incredibly fun and challenging, and recently I went through it all over again when I decided to buy it on Steam for my PC. I played the original back in 1999 when I got the PSOne and loved it, I didn't mind the changes made on this remake, also loved it for what it was, I'm missing like 6 achievements on Steam to get them all.
Rebirth in a month...now with a PS5 in hand, time to do the chapters on Hard mode, and get the rest of the trophys i missed....manuscripts....jukebox....bridal dresses.... actually so many to do.
I absolutely agree! my favorite platinum trophy has been FF7 Remake and it was the best 109 hours I have spent in a video game maybe ever! I even went as far as assessing every single enemy even if it wasn't part of the platinum.
I plan on finishing the platinum before FFXVI drops in June - I’m all about difficulty/combat trophies but the damn dresses with all the choices was so annoying. I spent a couple hours trying to figure it out and referenced a guide at a couple points and I’m with you, I have no idea how guide writers figured all that out initially 💀

FF7R was perfect. Hard mode was truly the best elevation of skill, mechanics, and challenge in any game I’ve played in my 30 years. The materia system, summons, graphics, the music, the voice acting and character relationships and dynamics, the side quests, the way Cloud is completely the brooding badass we wanted him to be, and most importantly… Tifa and Aerith are both perfect. Their voice acting, their playful but sexy but strong presence… the way you literally can’t help but fall in love with BOTH of them. Red, Barrett, Sephiroth… oh man. Games like FF7R don’t come around often for me. Besides Elden Ring, I’ve still yet to be that enthralled since.
Grinded all my materia just for that damn Ultimate Weapon trophy. And beating the Hell House on Hard was more of a pain than beating Sephiroth (mainly because Counterstance made him much more manageable).
Honestly I think this is my favorite Platinum I've ever gotten. Taught me so much about the game's combat and mechanics. I was skeptical of Hard Mode at first, but it's a whole lot of fun. Thinking about doing this Plat again since the PS5 list is separate. Can't wait for Rebirth!!
I agree with you, FF7R's hard mode was amazingly fun. A lot of hard modes in most games just feel like a chore to me, but this was an example of a good challenge done right. Really enjoyed figuring out enemy weaknesses and materia builds for individual boss fights; it was so rewarding. I never finished getting the DLC achievements, but I just might after watching this. Amazing video as always, dude!
Congrats on the Platinum man! I don’t usually double up and Instant unlock platinums, but I did for this (through save file transferral between PS4 to PS5 versions) so I can play the Yuffie DLC (As both a Final Fantasy Fan and a Completionist). Weiss was awful to deal with but still way more fun than any of the branching route trophies.
@@TannerJaye considering you also did DMC5 as well, look into doing Final Fantasy 16 when it comes out, as it has the battle director from DMC5 working on it's battle system.
I have been going through the New Final Fantasy 7 Remake and I must say I am absolutely Thrilled' Overjoyed and totally hooked on this Very Inspired and Uplifting Remake!! The characters and the story are right in sync with the charm of the whole story❤ I remember going through the original back in the day on the PS1 playing from Dawn to midnight almost non-stop and for me personally this definitely Recaptures all the excitement and feeling I enjoyed on the classic original original!! Be it on the Still Awesome PS4 or the beefed up version on the PS5 I Highly recommend trying em out they are that good and A must for any True Final Fantasy Fan❤❤❤🎉
Nice job brings back so many memories when I first played this game but the bosses they give me bad memories of fighting them because they were truly annoying and I would never considered fighting them on hard mode
The platinum for FF7R took a little over 100hrs and I enjoyed it. A few trophies though got me, dressed to the nines, pride and joy, and the hard enemy gauntlet, were all pains in the ass. But I found hard mode to be very rewarding when I finish that for the platinum
awesome work getting the platinum man. did it myself twice on ps4 and ps5, and it's a great trophy. the combat is amazing, the story is great and hard mode actually makes the game much better the dresses are a damn grind though, haha
I really hope they learned their lesson with Weiss' AI design. It's not fun when you have a party of 3 and the boss only attacks whoever you happen to be controlling at the moment. For one, it's too meta, the enemy shouldn't know who the player is controlling because the player doesn't exist from their perspective. But it's also annoying to be rushed down and never get a break no matter who you switch to. And of course, it's an awful strategy that's rife for cheese.
I have all but the pride and joy trophy for this game! I cannot beat Bahamut on hard. The hard missions levels weren’t even that difficult but god damn you Bahamut. I’m so close to giving up
It was a fun challenge. Certainly summon boss gauntlet and sepiroth hard were tediciius but none of these were impossible. They just required intense battle mashing The squad and pull ups were annoying

I adore games having a good 100% process. I thought about 100%ing some fav games then looked at the requirements and it's as if the devs hated the most dedicated players.
They definitely did really good on the battle system and mechanics. If you don't learn the ins and outs about it.... a lot of the fights can kick your teeth in on hard mode... some even on normal mode.
Currently on track to getting the platinum trophy, I just need to get the bike game and pull-up challenge trophy. Can't wait for Rebirth to be released.
I think I didn't fully appreciate then battle system until I finished the game and all the summon fights etc on hard mode. In normal mode you can do whatever and still progress, but in hard mode you have to understand and exploit the mechanics and enemies' weaknesses

Oh they added 2 more Gotterdamerungs? Damn, this Platinum got even easier now then. When I first did it I went to chapter 17 first after beating the game to get that accessory. It made all boss fights on Hard a breeze. For Eligor you can heal using Prayer Materia, it's a skill, not a spell, so it doesn't get bounced. Other than that you can just let people die and revive them after since dying get rids of all buffs and debuffs.
here is an idea plat trophy for subnautica, but here is the catch you have to do it on hardcore diffiulty and every time you die you have to do all the achievements again even if you had already gotten them.
Being honest, I have not played one Final Fantasy game and I have no idea why. I believe it was offered through PS Plus so I should have it if I remember right. I'll definitely check it out one of these days. Nice plat and as always, a damn great video.

Quick tip for anybody struggling to beat the heel house if you use chakra and link elemental materia with fire it becomes substantially easier

Hard mode is too easy, i expected ninja gaiden master ninja levels of difficulty. I have yet to find it in a game sadly.
Helps that you have chapter select and can go at your own pace for the hard mode trophy

The platinum for FF7R took a little over 100hrs and I enjoyed it. A few trophies though got me, dressed to the nines, pride and joy, and the hard enemy gauntlet, were all pains in the ass. But I found hard mode to be very rewarding when I finish that for the platinum

Pro tip, if youre also going for rebirth, get ad much revival materia as possible for everyone and get materia that magnifys who it impacts.

awesome work getting the platinum man. did it myself twice on ps4 and ps5, and it's a great trophy. the combat is amazing, the story is great and hard mode actually makes the game much better
the dresses are a damn grind though, haha

I really hope they learned their lesson with Weiss' AI design. It's not fun when you have a party of 3 and the boss only attacks whoever you happen to be controlling at the moment. For one, it's too meta, the enemy shouldn't know who the player is controlling because the player doesn't exist from their perspective. But it's also annoying to be rushed down and never get a break no matter who you switch to. And of course, it's an awful strategy that's rife for cheese.

I have all but the pride and joy trophy for this game! I cannot beat Bahamut on hard. The hard missions levels weren’t even that difficult but god damn you Bahamut. I’m so close to giving up

It was a fun challenge. Certainly summon boss gauntlet and sepiroth hard were tediciius but none of these were impossible. They just required intense battle mashing
The squad and pull ups were annoying

I adore games having a good 100% process.
I thought about 100%ing some fav games then looked at the requirements and it's as if the devs hated the most dedicated players.
They definitely did really good on the battle system and mechanics. If you don't learn the ins and outs about it.... a lot of the fights can kick your teeth in on hard mode... some even on normal mode.
Yea it's actually fun
Currently on track to getting the platinum trophy, I just need to get the bike game and pull-up challenge trophy. Can't wait for Rebirth to be released.

I think I didn't fully appreciate then battle system until I finished the game and all the summon fights etc on hard mode. In normal mode you can do whatever and still progress, but in hard mode you have to understand and exploit the mechanics and enemies' weaknesses

When I platinumed this on PS4 about 2 years ago I hated the stupid hell house but after a while it became easier and on PC I had no problem with is.
I’ve just recently come across your channel and I have to say you do an amazing job with your content. You’ve inspired me to try for some of these platinum trophies. Keep up the great work you’re doing dude and I can’t wait to see what you platinum next. I’m currently working on Elden Ring, Skyrim and Dead Space. Oh they added 2 more Gotterdamerungs? Damn, this Platinum got even easier now then. When I first did it I went to chapter 17 first after beating the game to get that accessory. It made all boss fights on Hard a breeze.
For Eligor you can heal using Prayer Materia, it's a skill, not a spell, so it doesn't get bounced. Other than that you can just let people die and revive them after since dying get rids of all buffs and debuffs.
