When I said that "people have been requesting this", I did not mean loot crates lol, I meant that people had been asking me to make a video on them. I realize my wording there wasn't the best. This was unscripted. Hopefully that clears that up if anyone else is thrown off by my wording of that.
My thing is if UBISOFT knew that the majority of the content that makes up what's available in these loot/battle crates was of any real quality then they would just sell these items individually in their store instead of hiding them behind a randomized loot prize system, which is obviously geared towards gamers who might have a latent gambling addiction and hope that their customer becomes totally obsessed with getting something good from buying/opening these stupid crates, I mean I can just hear those gamers right now "Come On Man!, I'm due to hit the big one, just one more crate, I know there's a legendary out there for me if I just keep trying/BUYING". DARKDALLY even you've got to admit that some of the more tangible weapons that have been recently added in the UBISOFT store have been just reskins of other weapons that are already available in the game, this is why I am personally not going to buy any of these crates because even the good stuff that you might be able to get after trying and trying over and over again might just be a reskin of a weapon or a rehash of a cammo that you already had. "Your best BET is to NOT to Gamble with these crates at all".
@Idahawk I just felt like it was getting a bit stale and repetitive. Bolivia is definitely a huge place to explore, but I was starting to lose that sense of awe that I had in the beginning. If I can find some new and interesting places, then sure :D
Funding. You want the support of a game that keeps going, someone has to pay for it. How many are still buying the game? Enough to keep the game alive? Fuck no.

in my opinion loot boxes have no place in paid games especially a full price game that already has a season pass and micro-transactions. sure put them in free to play games ill even buy some to support the devs but this is just pure greed in my opinion
Febreze I do appreciate the amount of free content they have planned but the game is still £80 plus for base game and season pass let alone what you spend in optional micro transactions and to me the buy in price doesn't justify adding loot boxes but that's just my opinion XD
I think if Ubisoft added them as rewards for weekly challenges (as opposed to the useless Tier boosters that were awarded in Season 4, which is the reason why I didn't do any regular Season 4 challenges) or as rewards for doing stuff in Ghost War, it would be better received and more worth it. But personally, I'm not paying any money to buy these loot crates (although I have some extra points I haven't used, so I may or may not use those to get more.)
I think the redeeming characteristic of these is no duplicates. At least you actually get three things that you don't have, and by that virtue each successive crate actually does have higher odds of giving you that thing you want. All loot crates should follow this policy.
Darkdally Dude... DUDE... For those of us who have watch your videos, enough to know that you wanted the Warrior chest so badly, you shouldve put it on right then and there. Heck, I remember the Predator video when you got the mask saying how cool it would look with it. Its worthy of its own video IMO.
I bought 11 spec ops 11 ghost ops crates and I got alot of things I never bought because I hated so was pissed but then bought another 11 ghost ops crates and 2 extra finally I started getting all the idols I spend money for Basically I spend like 75 dollars to play with valkyrie
The problem with loot crates is that it is gambling. I don’t want to spend money on something that could end up being something I don’t want. If they just gave me the option to buy items I want, I would totally buy them, but I’m not going to risk money to get random stuff I don’t want.
To be fair, this is probably the best way they can do loot crates: 1. you unlock dlc items from these packs (obviously not ghost war and narco road) 2. There are NO DUPLICATES 3. You get refunded your credits if you go over the pack limits to use when new content comes out 4. THESE PACKS ARE OPTIONAL and provide you with cosmetic items nothing that is pay to win
See, the thing is with me and loot crates/paid only gear and cosmetics isn't that they exist, it's the fact that they CAN NOT be EARNED from actually PLAYING. THE. GAME. There's so many things in the Wildlands store that I would love to have, but I'm sure as shit not paying $20+ for ONE thing thrown in with a bunch of bullshit that I could give a fuck less about. I’m honestly a bit annoyed because I just bought the ultimate edition and was expecting to unlock everything. That’s what I thought an ultimate edition would be. I don’t mind having to work to unlock them in game because it’d be stupid to have everything all at once. But this peace meal, breaking up of games is really annoying to me.
Most of the loot in these boxes are trash, its just dialogues and emotes, sometimes its the occasional cosmetics like a hoodie or a mask, sometimes I get a icon or two thats fine but every blue moon i get one gun. Honestly they should do a pass or something instead of going to the Ghost recon wildlands casino every time i want something.
I don't like loot crates. I don't go to my job and work my ass off for a chance to get the item I want. I want to be able to check it out in store and know what I'm buying. Anyway good video I enjoyed it
I have everything i need from this game. At the beginning, i went around the map and got every weapon and part. The bosses gave me even more weapons. Weapons are pretty balanced in wl, so considering everything the map gives you, loot crates are only good for cosmetics... in which case you rather just buy the ones you want from the other packs. Loot crates are hardly ever designed to benefit the player. Its sad to see them focus so much on packs, the gave still needs a lot of polishing.
First time commenter but i feel like i have something to add, As someone with an addictive personality and previously struggling with alcohol addiction because of those tendencies i cant stand loot boxes, I have no problem in buying cosmetics when i know what im getting, i have spent probably close to 100£ on Elite Dangerous but every penny i spent i knew exactly what i was buying where as with a loot crate even if you dont get dupicates you have no idea what your going to get, you could get lucky as you did and get what you want straight away or you could end up spending 100's of dollars and still not get it especially as they no doubt add more things you can get. Just my two cents that i wanted to throw in.
I would rather have DLC over loot crates any day with DLC I can see what I am goin to get when I buy them with loot crates it all on chance and u are there on the edge of your seat what am I goin to get then u just get a load of stuff that u don't want.... I am happy with DLC but we are all different some people like the loot crates for me it as to be DLC

Dude, when they patch the bug. You can finally get the All weapons, vehicles and stuff from narco road and falle, ghosts. Soon they'll patch the bug that actually gave some people items they've already owned. But now you don't have to play fallen ghosts to try the BFG50 which is better than the hti bdc because of it being non bolt action.
The only thing I don't like about the crates is that the Icons are ghost war exclusive. I understand so that ghost war has something exclusive. They just look so cool and I want to take down santa blanca as Mute
I bought the Warrior Set when it was available. I loved the look of it...Made me feel like I was in “Spartacus” lol. With that being said I may do a loot box just to see what I get. As it seems I have quite a few shirts/camo already that are repeats in a set if they have an item or two I really like. This might be an inexpensive way, maybe, to get certain items I truly want.
I'm not a fan of loot boxes where things can be given to you more then once because that seems like a waste and I didn't like the fact that in order to get the M-16 for example I had to buy a pack. I do like this system where I can have a little bit of every pack and I'm pretty pleased with it. The system doesn't seem cheap to take your money and give nothing in return by giving another something you already have

GRW has given me a lot entertainmet, I've really enjoyed it...(I haven't played/known about any other TACTICAL OPEN WORLD shooter game with those great graphics and diverse environment)..., so I don't see why not keep supporting it.
Hey DarkDally! I was wondering if you've noticed the recent bugs included in the new patch. Specifically in campaign. For example, the MDR being displayed in gunsmith when you try to customize the PDR, patches you have unlocked no longer showing up, and the absence of the Serbu BFG 50A1 in campaign. Bad Rabbit Yea,no crossbow either.And i have a bug where i cant change the colour of the R4 mag. I have the R4,PDR, PSG-1,& the bullpup assault rifle MDR(cant remember, its similar to the PDR & is also 3 letters). Thats all i remember. Im sure it'll all get worked out though,at least we know theyre listening. I love having the R4,& PSG-1.

I'm not a fan of loot box systems but it is cool that they would do this. This means fans that can't rally afford the packs can spend $5 here and there and that's enough for 2 crates. That's 6 items they didn't have for 5 bucks. I say the and thing you said when I try to weigh my options on where my extra money goes. I've spent 80 bucks on GRW and I got the game and expansions free so far (gameshare). I just bought packs. It's always worth it because I can make so many different characters like Ghost from MW2, Predator, etc. The best part about it is that they gave us 2 free crates. People have gotten things they didn't want to drop 20 bucks on for free like the Santa Muerte costume and Yeti Hunter. I might buy a few crates myself just cuz it's inexpensive and I don't really want anymore packs because I've bought so many. I don't know why my comment is so long. Keep up the good stuff, man. You're the only TH-cam I watch anymore.
The problem I feel that's in the gaming community is this toxic attitude with instant gratification. What some don't understand is that this is a business to make money. On one hand the consumer has this "want" to get all the new stuff and be unique. However, that comes with a price tag and that deters many people and now they feel left out. I decided I would spend $15 on the bundle pack of crates and that's it. I figured I have a "chance" to get some cool stuff I don't already have. Well, I got maybe 6 items out of 66 that I actually wanted. That sucked but, I understand the business side of it and decided $15 was all I needed to spend. Finishing up here, I agree that if you really want something, the crates give you a chance to get the item but, there's no guarantee. That's the game we play, it is what it is. Soco man84 Totally agree,its not pay to win,& its not forced,so i dont see the problem. I got 4 vehicles, 2 of which i wanted,but didnt want to buy the whole pack. I could do without the pink caddy......But,there are a few things in packs i want,but hate the entire rest of the bundle,this way,i might(and did)get things i dont want a whole pack for.If you dont like it,take the 2 free ones,& move on with your life.If your items effected my game,then id see a problem, but they dont.Now,we could use a ton of bug fixes,that be nice....Maybe get some real AI,in a loot crate😂 So my Tier1 operaters dont run into traffic or get hit by LOUD moving trains😂
The only reason the lootbox concept works is because they are based of addicted tendencies of us humans. We all collect something and want allways more. So instead of simply giving us more they sell us a chance to get more and mix it with stuff we don't want. That is exploiting addictive tendencies and "that's business" doesn't work if you are using underhanded tactics to trick people out of their money. We are getting exploited and people like you are excusing that because you personnaly don't have a problem with it... yet. Try to understand the long term damage this can have on video games. Publishers will try harder if it's successfull.
5 years late to the party and here’s my take. Loot crates are fine, as long as they can be some what easily obtainable through playing the game. Alpha packs in siege is the best example as all it takes is about 4 good games and a little luck and you earn a free cosmetic.
this is a decent way to do loot crates. if you want something you can just buy it, or if you are feeling lucky and have the spare stuff to buy it you might get it. also the no repeats is great. it means there will only be so much you have to spend to get everything. i do hope the weekly challenges will give one away every now and then though. i sure as hell wont be buying one any time soon.
at least these are dup protected which goes a really long way in making this system better than say supply drops in cod where you can get there dups in one drop
If they're randomized, there should be a mechanic to get them for free. Like, every week of game play you put into it, you get one on a rotational basis or something. Or as rewards for tier play or whatever...you know what I mean?
All things considered. ..i think that they did ok with the loot crates... You don't need them to progress. .. They are all cosmetic or only will help in campaign at best... And you can buy anything (with exception to the idols maybe?) in the packs... So it could be worse
my OPION is that there are some things I want that are in loot crates and I cant just buy them but I buy everything I want like the predator pack or the unidad pack and I use it all the time so don't buy it if you don't want it thanks for listening
if this replaces the tier boost as challenge reward im fine with it. however im not sure if duplicates are a thing. if it is that would change my opinion.
Instead of eating you can buy loot crates! :) Honestly, you'd probably be better off writing down six packs you want from the store, numbering them 1-6, roll a 1d6 die & purchase which number comes up. You get to roll for it & get something you want. Unless you just have to have the legendary outfits I don't see spending money to be potentially disappointed when I can buy what I want from the get.

People have a choice to buy them or not, personally I don’t care as cosmetic items are a good addition to the game, especially the R6 operators in woodlands
As long as a loot box just has cosmetics and nothing that will give you an advantage over other players I'm okay with it. That being said I think games should have an option to buy the items directly and give the option to buy loot crates in game with out using real world money or given as a reward for in game activities. For example if a game has a hat I want, I can either spend $5.00 at the in game store do some grinding buy a couple of loot crates and hope for the best or buy the loot crate and hope for the best.
I think they need to lower prices for all microtransactions in most games. GTA shark cards need to be at LEAST 40% cheaper I think (1$ = 100K) and in this How much a simple skin is to make, 5$ makes no sence to me. I just cant grasp it.

I'm ok thus far with what Ubi is throwin in the loot boxes. I just fear they may start addin special weapons that can't be found in packs or won through challenges, like COD has. If they keep it the exact way they are now, I'm completely fine with this.
My problem with Loot Boxes..... I played Goldeneye 007 on the N64 back in the day when it was new. Played the game, loved it, beat it. Then I learned about unlocking cheats. Holy crap! Instead of spending 1-5 hours beating the game and sitting the game aside....I spent the next several months unlocking ALL of the cheats. I would have never spent that amount of time unlocking all those cheats if I could have just purchased said cheats via loot boxes. Here are 2 reasons I think loot boxes are bad and/or how they negatively effect the game... 1. Obviously, if you have to buy the best gear that is vastly superior than anything the game gives you (best stats, best damage, etc).....its dumb, especially when its RNG 2. The people who make the game are severely shortening the amount of possible content and/or enjoyment that one could get out of the game. Take the example I gave above with 007. I wouldn't have spent nearly as much time with the game if I didn't have to EARN the cheats. To sum it up...If you put loot boxes in your game, don't make it pay to win. And finally, you can add more content to the game by adding random things to do that award you the items you can get from loot boxes. I think the best way to go about loot boxes is to give everyone the chance to get all items through loot boxes AND through gameplay in a way that adds to the content of the game. So long as you keep the whole pay to win aspect out of it, its the way the system should be implemented.
Generally speaking I am opposed to just buying cosmetic items in games. I bought some for some games on the PS3 back when I was in high school, but they weren't major nor that expensive. In regards to DLC in general, I really have to see the value in it, otherwise I'll pass or just wait for a game of the year edition of a title to come out a year or two later. My issue with Wildlands is the fact that the game still has issues in it that the player base has been complaining about since launch. Some of my personal issues include a lack of custom controls on console, the inability to customize squad loadouts and appearances, actually having LMGs that are useful, ect. Many of these requests go unaddressed, so why (as a player) feel any sense of obligation to supporting this team? Even with the cosmetics, the community clearly want more milsim gear (international camo patterns, more chest rigs, helmet options, ect). Yet Ubisoft puts in devil masks, predator tattoos, llama vans, and other goofy crap that looks like it would be more at home in Call of Duty. The only items included in these loot crates that peak my interest are the Rainbow Six Siege outfits, but they are only available in multiplayer. The multiplayer in this game is fine, but I would hardly say it's the highlight of the experience. See, having for example a Spetsnaz R6 pack with all 4 operator outfits, and a few weapons (like the OTS-03, 6P41, GSh-18, and the PMM) for about $10, you may peak my interest.
Andres Altamirano Most suck in my opinion. The rainbow colours,the mixed metals,the Fallen Ghosts colours. I bought one that had a yellow mossy,& a green mossy type camo,plus Canadian green(the others were stupid IMO),so i put the mossy yellow on,& go to change part colours......They were snow camo patterns😲😠 How the hell does that make sense. So,you got this mossy yellow camo(kinda like dry grass),with white,camo white, & black😦😒 REALLY!?!?
I would be “ok” with this if there was a way to earn the crates in game, rather than having to spend money to basically gamble. This is why Washington’s Senator drafted a bill for loot box regulation.
I did not support BF 2 due to the Micro transactions specifically regarding loot- crates/boxes! DLC is another matter for me - since it adds to the expansion. I hate random crate drops/since they move the benchmark with every crate, as you said, it becomes addictive and Wild lands just lost my support tbh.

Worth it imo, only when ur pigeonholed into paying ONLY and u suck without the bought items does it affect gameplay...
But I love this game and I have high hopes for it still. I do hope that in the future dailey or weekly challenges will be added to the PvP mode to EARN some of this stuff they want people to purchase. I also hope that in the coming weeks they will have some great rewards for challenges on the weekly. Not Tier Boosters or shitty T-shirts no one wants. I also hope that at some point they do add things into both the PvP and PvE that their consumer base are asking for. Though I can play devils advicate with most things. I Understand they will put money tiwards things that will earn them back the extra money they are spending jn developmental time. As well as the chance that is taken when the do somethjng that could upset the balancing and playability or the current product. We dont dictate what the Devs do and don't do. That I get. But as their customer base we DO understand what is missing/could be better.
Look, I know the entire thing is kinda nice with giving you DLC items but the operators. They give 0 fucks about the people who have siege, that's why they are so fucking scummy and nobody called them out yet and you have a chance to do it.
I simply don't like the gambling aspect of loot crates. When you buy something IRL, you buy "that" item, not "a chance" to get that item. It would be like going in to a grocery store or a toy store and pointing at "an RC Car" and get "a doll", where the salesman replies to the disappointment, "try again, maybe you'll get lucky next time". That is called gambling and is famously addictive and not very moral at that point. Especially when there are children involved.
In general I do not support the loot box concept, but I do agree they work for making gaming companies money. However, it does not bother me if people choose to spend money on loot boxes. Just as it should not bother others if I spend my money on computer games. While I do not equate money spent on food the same as computer gaming items, I do look at this way: around here a movie ticket costs 10 bucks for an average of 2 hours entertainment. That's 5 bucks an hour. So, a 60 dollar game should provide 30 hours of entertainment to be on par. I get much more than 30 hours of entertainment out of my computer games. If that 10 dollar DLC gives you more than 2 hours of enjoyment, then so be it.
your philosophy is terrible. It's not not about spending money. Loot boxes damage progression. Take for example that helicopter pack with rockets. That would be in the base game if it wasn't for DLC

I just don't like some of the tactics they are using because I know as a developer how easy those spawning mechanics would be to implement. I do think the prices are also too high. Things like this are making games feel hollow nowadays. If they had kept something like the chopper / prop aircraft as a reward for completing the campaign or maybe even an in game task e.g taking control of the airport it would have been awesome. In all honestly I don't really have any incentive to play GRW. I'm only playing it because there is nothing else to play. Your videos are good though.
I don't mind loot crates such as these. They don't have anything in them that is "game breaking" or "unfair." EA's Star Wars BF2's loot crates had O.P. weapons and ships that was basically like turning on God Mode.
Spending money is easy both virtually and in real life. Money is money and as DD implied either spend the money or don't I have, and continue to enjoy the game. If I hadn't spent the money I would still have enjoyed the game. Either way.....
Your missing the point it's a modern spec ops game why could they not put more chest rigs more different weapons more scopes I got 14 spec ops crates and out of that 3 things had something to do with spec ops soldiers the rest was shit they fucked this game right up when would a spec ops soldier jump out of a fucking plane wearing a miners helmet and a bright red fucking gun so the enemy would spot you coming a mile away wast of money

i wouldn't. theres a difference between making money and holding fun hostage for ransom. thats literally what they do. imagine final fantasy 7 and the glory of all the optional content in that game. i knew a kid in highschool that beat sephiroth using just simple elemental magic and summons cause he didnt even know golden chocobos existed or ultima weapon or any of that shit. hours upon hours maybe a week of optional content 💙 if that game were released today they woulda with held all of it to be bought back at a later date.. effectively ruining the game to leach money off of its greatest fans.. matter of fact there re making ff7 and thats already how it looks. i have 0 interest in that game because of it. good business is in providing a good service for a fair price. that is not how game companies operate. its like if i had the only mcdonalds for 300 miles so i uped the price of the big mack to 11 dollars.. just cause i could knowing alot of people will still eat there cause they dont wanna drive 6 hours. people are weak to temptations and say fuck it. youd wake up one morning and say.. "i havent had mcdonalds in 3 years 😐 fuck it, there charging an arm and a leg for a burger.. but fuck it sounds good" with a few exceptions the content of games now a days is nowhere near 10 years ago. games now are not complete. they wreck games and hold fun as a hostage knowing you will give into temptation, you will desire something so strong that youll say fuck it, put it on the card. fun as a hostage, for a ransom thats in your wallet. i wanted to play as the rainbow 6 chars.. you think im gonna pay 60 dollars for that??? and now i will never have the joy of running around the map as IQ or jagur or any of them.. cause i was unwilling to support and negotiate with terrorist.. i will never know what thats like. sure its a small part of the game and it only exists because rainbow 6 is doing good.. what 1/100th of the game i wont get to enjoy.. but it is still a portion that i will never experience due to greed 🙁 i miss complete games. like ace combat on ps2 collecting all the jets that would surely be dlc today. talk about complete, go play final fantasy 10 from ps2 era.. doing all the optional side quests could take fucking months 😂 if at all some things are super hard to complete 🤣 back then they didnt have this ulterior motive. because it wasnt the norm to have dlc then. they simple thought what would bring our players joy.. what else can we add to the game to make it truly epic and amazing. what would they love 😍 back then they relied on the the reputation of the product, the game to sell itself. that word would get around that what there looking at is of utmost quality and you can guaranteeee that your gonna have a good time! id say fuck yea ill slap down 60 bucks on that. ill have months of vegging out in my chair with my tongue hanging out drooling, unwilling to shower or eat till im the next level 🤣😍 i bought FF12 brand knew knowing nothing of the game or that it was even comming out and the same month i bought ace combat 0 brand new on ps2 60 bucks each.. ..knowing just on reputation of high quality complete projects from the past.. i was gonna be more than happy with my purchase 😆 and they didnt dissapoint. high quality maximum effort and pride and love went into them games. now a days its minimum effort to maximize profit. they slap that shit together and say here you go, 60 bucks, 100 for the season pass. fuck you we got more customers in line, call this number to file complaints and theyll tell you to fuck off as well :) ghost recon is an exception i think, so are games like the witcher but these joy hostage tactics are disgraceful and they make games of today seem.. so god damn soul less and incomplete.. 🙁💔
When I said that "people have been requesting this", I did not mean loot crates lol, I meant that people had been asking me to make a video on them. I realize my wording there wasn't the best. This was unscripted. Hopefully that clears that up if anyone else is thrown off by my wording of that.

My thing is if UBISOFT knew that the majority of the content that makes up what's available in these loot/battle crates was of any real quality then they would just sell these items individually in their store instead of hiding them behind a randomized loot prize system, which is obviously geared towards gamers who might have a latent gambling addiction and hope that their customer becomes totally obsessed with getting something good from buying/opening these stupid crates, I mean I can just hear those gamers right now "Come On Man!, I'm due to hit the big one, just one more crate, I know there's a legendary out there for me if I just keep trying/BUYING".
DARKDALLY even you've got to admit that some of the more tangible weapons that have been recently added in the UBISOFT store have been just reskins of other weapons that are already available in the game, this is why I am personally not going to buy any of these crates because even the good stuff that you might be able to get after trying and trying over and over again might just be a reskin of a weapon or a rehash of a cammo that you already had. "Your best BET is to NOT to Gamble with these crates at all".

in my opinion loot boxes have no place in paid games especially a full price game that already has a season pass and micro-transactions. sure put them in free to play games ill even buy some to support the devs but this is just pure greed in my opinion

I think if Ubisoft added them as rewards for weekly challenges (as opposed to the useless Tier boosters that were awarded in Season 4, which is the reason why I didn't do any regular Season 4 challenges) or as rewards for doing stuff in Ghost War, it would be better received and more worth it. But personally, I'm not paying any money to buy these loot crates (although I have some extra points I haven't used, so I may or may not use those to get more.)
They should simply make it so that you can purchase the crates with prestige points then everyone will be happy.
I think the redeeming characteristic of these is no duplicates. At least you actually get three things that you don't have, and by that virtue each successive crate actually does have higher odds of giving you that thing you want. All loot crates should follow this policy.

The problem with loot crates is that it is gambling. I don’t want to spend money on something that could end up being something I don’t want. If they just gave me the option to buy items I want, I would totally buy them, but I’m not going to risk money to get random stuff I don’t want.
To be fair, this is probably the best way they can do loot crates: 1. you unlock dlc items from these packs (obviously not ghost war and narco road)
2. There are NO DUPLICATES
3. You get refunded your credits if you go over the pack limits to use when new content comes out
4. THESE PACKS ARE OPTIONAL and provide you with cosmetic items nothing that is pay to win

See, the thing is with me and loot crates/paid only gear and cosmetics isn't that they exist, it's the fact that they CAN NOT be EARNED from actually PLAYING. THE. GAME. There's so many things in the Wildlands store that I would love to have, but I'm sure as shit not paying $20+ for ONE thing thrown in with a bunch of bullshit that I could give a fuck less about. I MAY be willing to pay a buck or two for the individual things that I actually want, but... Prolly not. Let me earn my shit the ole fashioned way.

Most of the loot in these boxes are trash, its just dialogues and emotes, sometimes its the occasional cosmetics like a hoodie or a mask, sometimes I get a icon or two thats fine but every blue moon i get one gun. Honestly they should do a pass or something instead of going to the Ghost recon wildlands casino every time i want something.
I don't like loot crates. I don't go to my job and work my ass off for a chance to get the item I want. I want to be able to check it out in store and know what I'm buying. Anyway good video I enjoyed it
I have everything i need from this game. At the beginning, i went around the map and got every weapon and part. The bosses gave me even more weapons. Weapons are pretty balanced in wl, so considering everything the map gives you, loot crates are only good for cosmetics... in which case you rather just buy the ones you want from the other packs. Loot crates are hardly ever designed to benefit the player. Its sad to see them focus so much on packs, the gave still needs a lot of polishing.

First time commenter but i feel like i have something to add, As someone with an addictive personality and previously struggling with alcohol addiction because of those tendencies i cant stand loot boxes, I have no problem in buying cosmetics when i know what im getting, i have spent probably close to 100£ on Elite Dangerous but every penny i spent i knew exactly what i was buying where as with a loot crate even if you dont get dupicates you have no idea what your going to get, you could get lucky as you did and get what you want straight away or you could end up spending 100's of dollars and still not get it especially as they no doubt add more things you can get.

Dude, when they patch the bug. You can finally get the All weapons, vehicles and stuff from narco road and falle, ghosts. Soon they'll patch the bug that actually gave some people items they've already owned. But now you don't have to play fallen ghosts to try the BFG50 which is better than the hti bdc because of it being non bolt action.
The only thing I don't like about the crates is that the Icons are ghost war exclusive. I understand so that ghost war has something exclusive. They just look so cool and I want to take down santa blanca as Mute

I bought the Warrior Set when it was available. I loved the look of it...Made me feel like I was in “Spartacus” lol. With that being said I may do a loot box just to see what I get. As it seems I have quite a few shirts/camo already that are repeats in a set if they have an item or two I really like. This might be an inexpensive way, maybe, to get certain items I truly want.
This is how the loot box system should be, nothing to do with the progression of your game.

I'm not a fan of loot boxes where things can be given to you more then once because that seems like a waste and I didn't like the fact that in order to get the M-16 for example I had to buy a pack. I do like this system where I can have a little bit of every pack and I'm pretty pleased with it. The system doesn't seem cheap to take your money and give nothing in return by giving another something you already have

Hey DarkDally! I was wondering if you've noticed the recent bugs included in the new patch. Specifically in campaign. For example, the MDR being displayed in gunsmith when you try to customize the PDR, patches you have unlocked no longer showing up, and the absence of the Serbu BFG 50A1 in campaign. I'm not a fan of loot box systems but it is cool that they would do this. This means fans that can't rally afford the packs can spend $5 here and there and that's enough for 2 crates. That's 6 items they didn't have for 5 bucks. I say the and thing you said when I try to weigh my options on where my extra money goes. I've spent 80 bucks on GRW and I got the game and expansions free so far (gameshare). I just bought packs. It's always worth it because I can make so many different characters like Ghost from MW2, Predator, etc. The best part about it is that they gave us 2 free crates. People have gotten things they didn't want to drop 20 bucks on for free like the Santa Muerte costume and Yeti Hunter. I might buy a few crates myself just cuz it's inexpensive and I don't really want anymore packs because I've bought so many. I don't know why my comment is so long. Keep up the good stuff, man. The problem I feel that's in the gaming community is this toxic attitude with instant gratification. What some don't understand is that this is a business to make money. On one hand the consumer has this "want" to get all the new stuff and be unique. However, that comes with a price tag and that deters many people and now they feel left out. I decided I would spend $15 on the bundle pack of crates and that's it. I figured I have a "chance" to get some cool stuff I don't already have. Well, I got maybe 6 items out of 66 that I actually wanted. That sucked but, I understand the business side of it and decided $15 was all I needed to spend. Finishing up here, I agree that if you really want something, the crates give you a chance to get the item but, there's no guarantee. That's the game we play, it is what it is. The only reason the lootbox concept works is because they are based of addicted tendencies of us humans. We all collect something and want allways more. So instead of simply giving us more they sell us a chance to get more and mix it with stuff we don't want. That is exploiting addictive tendencies and "that's business" doesn't work if you are using underhanded tactics to trick people out of their money. We are getting exploited and people like you are excusing that because you personnaly don't have a problem with it... yet. Try to understand the long term damage this can have on video games. Publishers will try harder if it's successfull.
5 years late to the party and here’s my take. Loot crates are fine, as long as they can be some what easily obtainable through playing the game. Alpha packs in siege is the best example as all it takes is about 4 good games and a little luck and you earn a free cosmetic.
this is a decent way to do loot crates. if you want something you can just buy it, or if you are feeling lucky and have the spare stuff to buy it you might get it. also the no repeats is great. it means there will only be so much you have to spend to get everything.
i do hope the weekly challenges will give one away every now and then though. i sure as hell wont be buying one any time soon.
i think loot boxes are ok for wildlands because most people play it as a single player or co op game and items are mostly cosmetic
at least these are dup protected which goes a really long way in making this system better than say supply drops in cod where you can get there dups in one drop

If they're randomized, there should be a mechanic to get them for free. Like, every week of game play you put into it, you get one on a rotational basis or something. Or as rewards for tier play or whatever...you know what I mean?
All things considered. ..i think that they did ok with the loot crates... You don't need them to progress. .. They are all cosmetic or only will help in campaign at best... And you can buy anything (with exception to the idols maybe?) in the packs... So it could be worse

my OPION is that there are some things I want that are in loot crates and I cant just buy them but I buy everything I want like the predator pack or the unidad pack and I use it all the time so don't buy it if you don't want it thanks for listening

Instead of eating you can buy loot crates! :) Honestly, you'd probably be better off writing down six packs you want from the store, numbering them 1-6, roll a 1d6 die & purchase which number comes up. You get to roll for it & get something you want. Unless you just have to have the legendary outfits I don't see spending money to be potentially disappointed when I can buy what I want from the get.

As long as a loot box just has cosmetics and nothing that will give you an advantage over other players I'm okay with it. That being said I think games should have an option to buy the items directly and give the option to buy loot crates in game with out using real world money or given as a reward for in game activities. For example if a game has a hat I want, I can either spend $5.00 at the in game store do some grinding buy a couple of loot crates and hope for the best or buy the loot crate and hope for the best.
I think they need to lower prices for all microtransactions in most games. GTA shark cards need to be at LEAST 40% cheaper I think (1$ = 100K) and in this How much a simple skin is to make, 5$ makes no sence to me. I just cant grasp it.

I'm ok thus far with what Ubi is throwin in the loot boxes. I just fear they may start addin special weapons that can't be found in packs or won through challenges, like COD has. If they keep it the exact way they are now, I'm completely fine with this.
My problem with Loot Boxes.....
I played Goldeneye 007 on the N64 back in the day when it was new. Played the game, loved it, beat it. Then I learned about unlocking cheats. Holy crap! Instead of spending 1-5 hours beating the game and sitting the game aside....I spent the next several months unlocking ALL of the cheats. I would have never spent that amount of time unlocking all those cheats if I could have just purchased said cheats via loot boxes.
Here are 2 reasons I think loot boxes are bad and/or how they negatively effect the game...
1. Obviously, if you have to buy the best gear that is vastly superior than anything the game gives you (best stats, best damage, etc).....its dumb, especially when its RNG
2. The people who make the game are severely shortening the amount of possible content and/or enjoyment that one could get out of the game. Take the example I gave above with 007. I wouldn't have spent nearly as much time with the game if I didn't have to EARN the cheats.
To sum it up...If you put loot boxes in your game, don't make it pay to win. And finally, you can add more content to the game by adding random things to do that award you the items you can get from loot boxes. I think the best way to go about loot boxes is to give everyone the chance to get all items through loot boxes AND through gameplay in a way that adds to the content of the game. So long as you keep the whole pay to win aspect out of it, its the way the system should be implemented.

Generally speaking I am opposed to just buying cosmetic items in games. I bought some for some games on the PS3 back when I was in high school, but they weren't major nor that expensive. In regards to DLC in general, I really have to see the value in it, otherwise I'll pass or just wait for a game of the year edition of a title to come out a year or two later.
My issue with Wildlands is the fact that the game still has issues in it that the player base has been complaining about since launch. Some of my personal issues include a lack of custom controls on console, the inability to customize squad loadouts and appearances, actually having LMGs that are useful, ect. Many of these requests go unaddressed, so why (as a player) feel any sense of obligation to supporting this team? Even with the cosmetics, the community clearly want more milsim gear (international camo patterns, more chest rigs, helmet options, ect). Yet Ubisoft puts in devil masks, predator tattoos, llama vans, and other goofy crap that looks like it would be more at home in Call of Duty.
The only items included in these loot crates that peak my interest are the Rainbow Six Siege outfits, but they are only available in multiplayer. The multiplayer in this game is fine, but I would hardly say it's the highlight of the experience. See, having for example a Spetsnaz R6 pack with all 4 operator outfits, and a few weapons (like the OTS-03, 6P41, GSh-18, and the PMM) for about $10, you may peak my interest.
Just buy the weapon camos before getting loot crates, then you'll get only good stuff.

The rainbow colours,the mixed metals,the Fallen Ghosts colours. I bought one that had a yellow mossy,& a green mossy type camo,plus Canadian green(the others were stupid IMO),so i put the mossy yellow on,& go to change part colours......They were snow camo patterns😲😠

I would be “ok” with this if there was a way to earn the crates in game, rather than having to spend money to basically gamble. This is why Washington’s Senator drafted a bill for loot box regulation.

I did not support BF 2 due to the Micro transactions specifically regarding loot- crates/boxes! DLC is another matter for me - since it adds to the expansion. I hate random crate drops/since they move the benchmark with every crate, as you said, it becomes addictive and Wild lands just lost my support tbh.

But I love this game and I have high hopes for it still. I do hope that in the future dailey or weekly challenges will be added to the PvP mode to EARN some of this stuff they want people to purchase. I also hope that in the coming weeks they will have some great rewards for challenges on the weekly. Not Tier Boosters or shitty T-shirts no one wants.
I also hope that at some point they do add things into both the PvP and PvE that their consumer base are asking for. Though I can play devils advicate with most things. I Understand they will put money tiwards things that will earn them back the extra money they are spending jn developmental time. As well as the chance that is taken when the do somethjng that could upset the balancing and playability or the current product.
We dont dictate what the Devs do and don't do. That I get. But as their customer base we DO understand what is missing/could be better.
Only problem with these crates, you gotta pay out the pocket.

Look, I know the entire thing is kinda nice with giving you DLC items but the operators. They give 0 fucks about the people who have siege, that's why they are so fucking scummy and nobody called them out yet and you have a chance to do it.
I simply don't like the gambling aspect of loot crates. When you buy something IRL, you buy "that" item, not "a chance" to get that item.
It would be like going in to a grocery store or a toy store and pointing at "an RC Car" and get "a doll", where the salesman replies to the disappointment, "try again, maybe you'll get lucky next time".
That is called gambling and is famously addictive and not very moral at that point. Especially when there are children involved.

In general I do not support the loot box concept, but I do agree they work for making gaming companies money. However, it does not bother me if people choose to spend money on loot boxes. Just as it should not bother others if I spend my money on computer games. While I do not equate money spent on food the same as computer gaming items, I do look at this way: around here a movie ticket costs 10 bucks for an average of 2 hours entertainment. That's 5 bucks an hour. So, a 60 dollar game should provide 30 hours of entertainment to be on par. I get much more than 30 hours of entertainment out of my computer games. If that 10 dollar DLC gives you more than 2 hours of enjoyment, then so be it.
your philosophy is terrible. It's not not about spending money. Loot boxes damage progression. Take for example that helicopter pack with rockets. That would be in the base game if it wasn't for DLC

I just don't like some of the tactics they are using because I know as a developer how easy those spawning mechanics would be to implement. I do think the prices are also too high. Things like this are making games feel hollow nowadays. If they had kept something like the chopper / prop aircraft as a reward for completing the campaign or maybe even an in game task e.g taking control of the airport it would have been awesome. In all honestly I don't really have any incentive to play GRW. I'm only playing it because there is nothing else to play. Your videos are good though.

I don't mind loot crates such as these. They don't have anything in them that is "game breaking" or "unfair." EA's Star Wars BF2's loot crates had O.P. weapons and ships that was basically like turning on God Mode.
