I met a woman in her mid 30's, she was probably 20 pounds overweight compared to healthy weight, and I want to say 5'2". She didn't want to work because she felt like she was entitled (key word there, we hear it a lot from Millennials and Gen Z) to being a professional ballerina who tours the world.
I pointed out that millions of girls around the world start training at a very early age, sometimes as early as even age 3. That they train for years, starve themselves, and even then, only a tiny fraction of them end up BARELY making a subsistence level of income as a ballerina, working themselves into chronic pain and suffering, and their career only lasts a handful of years.
Her response was "you Republicans are ruining the world and need to go." My surprised face (I'm not registered with either of the two parties, I have major issues with both, the parties mind you, not their voters, I get along with most voters).

Has this woman ever danced before in her life? I feel like after a couple dance practices, she wouldn't want to be a ballerina anymore. It is much more demanding than the average office or retail job. She's also ignoring the fact that virtually all ballerinas are retired by her age. Even if hypothetically she had an opportunity to dance with some company (would never happen), does she really think that she would be able to keep doing it into her 40s and 50s? Delusional.

My brother wouldn't have learned to walk or talk without me pushing him and I regret that. Me pushing him is now labeled abuse and he knows this. He's a terror and is well aware of the line "He didn't know any better he's disabled." He uses to hurt, manipulate and control people. He was allowed to abuse my mother and I almost went to jail for defending her because he's disabled for one of many examples. I hate him and I'm the bad guy because he's worshipped for his disability as many are. This showed me how things go when the norm becomes babying and showed me what privelage looks like.
Humans need push every now and again some more than others. This babying creates spoiled people who will do the worst.
I am very happy your doing so well and I do hope you got a support system though. Keep up the hard work.

I see a lot of beautiful ladies on here talking about how short they are, so I want to share my story. I hit my full height of 5'10 at 12 years old. I was super skinny as well. I spent the next 6 years of middle and highchool being bullied to no end. I was called names like "Viking, Stork, Giant, String Bean, and Amazon Girl." I was lanky and flat chested. Then, when I was around 17, I was told I could be a model several times. My self-esteem was ruined, and I couldn't bear the thought of parading in front of people. I am now almost 40 and still have self-esteem issues. Even those who fit the mold of your typical model are bullied to no end. Just be kind to everyone no matter what.

I think most would agree for example that the standard of American basketball or baseball was increased after African Americans were no longer discouraged from participating. The standard of soccer in the UK definitely increased when the rules of only amateur participation were relaxed, as this allowed players from poorer backgrounds to participate and not only rich gentlemen. It also becomes dangerous! As a retired paramedic, in the few years before I left, I witnessed trainee paramedics be pushed through their training, regardless of the fact they kept failing all of their assessments, and demonstrated a clear lack of knowledge and skills. Regardless of the fact they were clearly not capable of doing their jobs, they were continuously pushed through until they found ways to ALLOW them to pass. They then go on to work as qualified paramedics, continuously making dangerous mistakes, at times costing people their lives! Seriously, do you really want to put your lives in these peoples hands? I'm sure there are other professions that are dealing with similar issues. It's dangerous, and needs to stop!

It's so annoying how much it hinders naturally speech and communication because people have to tip toe around what they say in order not to offend someone who gets offended by pretty much everything.
Another thing is, this whole thing isn't equal, like less than 25% of people, probably way way less, who just so happen to have the loudest voices, they're in control of the media, most popular websites on the internet, etc, are trying to force everyone to care about their feelings, their insights, but they don't do that for other people. An example is Carol wants to talk about her sunflowers but Brenda is triggered by sunflowers because they remind her of the war in Ukraine, and she expects everyone to know that sunflowers are national flower of Ukraine.
Why shouldn't Carol be allowed to talk about her sunflowers? Don't people consider the fact that shaming her like that might hurt her feelings?
If they want to preach about the caring of feelings then they should back it up.

Similar thing happened to my sister with ballet. She loved it, was great at it, had all the talents. She far surpassed her peers in skill. She was a natural. However, she chose to quit that dream when she was in her mid teens because she realized it wasn’t realistic. Despite all the hard work she did, she had to face the fact that she’d struggle to get any parts, because she was too tall. She wouldn’t be competing with mediocre girls who did ballet as an activity for parts anymore, she’d be competing with other girls on her level and even above who would be more likely to be picked for being shorter. Tall girls don’t do ballet, because tall girls are heavier to lift and thus more strenuous on the bodies of their male dance partners. When you’re looking for shorter women for partner roles, you’re going to build up a catalog of women in that height range, so even when you’re hiring for non-partner roles, you’re going to still look for dancers who will fit in with the line up. Ballet is a sport of conformity. My sister didn’t conform, so she chose to pursue a radically different career path that would allow her to prioritize being a wife and mom.

I tried out for cheerleading 4 times and I never made it in the squad. I tried every time, tho I was still friends with the girls who did actually make the team. I wanted to be a cheerleader mainly bcuz I’ve always wanted to learn how to do the splits and be flexible. It’s been 10 years since then and I’ve learned on my own to be more strong & flexible with my body. Looking back I’ve accepted that cheerleading isn’t ment for everyone. And if I did make the squad then I’d probably have an ego about it

It did not come easily I was not some genius with a eidetic memory, I worked hard!!! With all nighters, missing out on social functions I was a good student. My family was poor and education was my way out! I was so proud of my academic excellence, however students now aren’t even allowed to be celebrated for working harder than other students because, excellence no longer matters!!!🤯😤😩😫 So why even try? I’m not competitive at most things, however I was always an extremely hard worker, it’s sad that we don’t want to honor excellence any longer.

When you're being inclusive look at the weakest link. That's what everyone's expected to be. Equity lowers everyone to the lowest possible standard. As a fat woman, I have absolutely no problem with the old Victoria’s Secret.
I loved watching the yearly shows.
They are the Victoria’s Secret angels.
They are not meant to be “attainable“
they are meant to be heavenly bodies beautiful women showing off gorgeous lingerie, wearing angel wingswith fabulous music playing and great special effects or whatever.
The whole aesthetic is what attracts everybody.
If you feel like you’re just looking at a Walmart
runway show wearing Her Way underwear, with some crap pop music playing
it loses ALL of the appeal .

I worked for Victoria’s Secret for 5 years. And, yes, I accepted the fact that that it was for a specific “type” of clientele. If you were morbidly obese, our bras were NOT for you. We catered to women who were petite to average and were willing to pay a more premium price even if it meant sometimes sacrificing comfort over sexiness and femininity. I liked watching the fashion shows and I liked the era of the older angels who were often more slender than the average woman but usually more voluptuous than some of the couture models.
These new angels look ridiculous to me. Catering to everyone makes any brand lose its appeal. VS was targeted to a specific type of consumer. That type of logic only works for daily necessities that EVERYONE uses, which often falls in line with services rather than goods. I mean- women shopping at VS wouldn’t be the types you’d see going to Lane Bryant. There is nothing wrong with exclusivity so long as you aren’t bringing others down in the process. And in clothing… it doesn’t make sense for any brand to try to cater to ALL shapes and styles; how could you possibly keep up with the inventory without losing money? This still isn't the way to go, it makes them look laughable as a chubby 17 year old who stands at 5'7, and also it absolutely insults their original models who worked hard to be there. Devil's advocate: How do you explain that to someone with a body type issue? Not obese, but they're too short, or male, or a hawkish nose, the wrong skin tone, have a specific type of calf (mentioned by an ex model/ dancer in a women's defense book I read once upon a time)... How do you, not a lawyer but you as a loving person, tell your niece that she's not pretty enough to live her dream because she inherited her grandma's boobs and not the other grandma's?
There are some things you can train and improve for, like sports. Even then injuries happen, lack of sponsorships, everything's a gamble in that perspective. How do you explain and justify that to someone who grew up with stories like Zootopia, or 90s chick flicks, or muffin flipping Xena?
I personally have no issue with roles and jobs existing for body types. The problem is finding the legalese that doesn't discriminate just because of traditional racism or other bigotry and more, "We're looking for a profile that you physically do not fit." This same template can be used by Hollywood for period shows, instead of requiring token colors for a historical Viking or Samurai or Zulu piece.
      Sincerely,

Exactly, it seems like suddenly we are encouraged to be at our worst, because society will do what it takes that we fit in, no matter how toxic our behavior is. People used to thrive to be better persons, better looking, meaning healthier, better athletes, workers, scientist, artist, and to contribute to evolution of society with their own personal growth. These days, every mediocre person with a social network is creating their own reality, and everybody else needs to fit in or you are canceled for not acknowledging them. Basically , I think if we cannot continue to evolve as species, we are so doomed.

For example if we talk about superheros, let’s just say in the Justice league it’s just Superman, Batman, Flash and Green Lantern. Yes all are great heroes but it’s just one demographic. Do you need to be a white man to only like them and empathize with them? No ofc not but what about someone who isn’t that demographic. Everyone on earth does NOT look the same. Do you want to show that women can’t be heroes? Or different races of people can’t be heroes? No bc anyone can have the opportunity to be a hero and that’s why we have representation.

A lot of places with cute clothing is for small women. I believe it’s ok for Victoria Secret to have plus size. Some women can lose weight and keep weight off a lot easier than others. Exactly. I remember when the school system and the Department of Education STARTED THE...."everyone gets a trophy". The parents and teachers HOTLY contested it, so did we. (My husband is in education) and we KNEW it would end up really bad.
The debate was...(their side) that lowering standrds and making things easier and then giving EVERYONE a trophy regardles, would make ALL the students "feel special" and would include everyone, and no one would FEEL "left out".....and...( The parents , teachers and other side).... was...That giving everyone a trophy would not allow ....the majority of students to learn HOW to struggle and work HARD to get what they WANTED, and deserved if they DID work hard to achieve a high score/level, and would deny those children THEIR opportunity, instead of lowering everything down to the "lowest learners".....and instead of having rewards " handed to them" just because they WANTED something for doing nothing, or doing very LITTLE. (Why not just help the few that were struggling, and keep standrds AS THEY WERE?) This would create a large sub-standard of learning.... SURE ENOUGH, it turned out JUST LIKE WE SAID. And, the " DOE " was WRONG......AGAIN. that group needs to GO. And so now we have a group of adults that arent happy with ANYTHING unless they are the CENTER OF ATTENTION or "getting something they didnt earn, and dont even want to TRY to earn it ". THATS NOT GOOD......because they don't understand the JOY from attaining something from hard work and achievement. The DOE.....ROBBED THEM OF THAT. Their lives are going to be triple hard, and their kids will suffer for their unhappiness, because the "parents happiness will always be MORE important than their childs. It will create a next generation of VERY ANGRY and rebellious children after them, that hate WHAT their angry parents are doing, to see that their paents can't be happy without being "pacified" with something. So, their kids will never feel "good enough" to satisfy their parents need for constant validation and praise.
These adults were CHEATED out of a VERY SPECIAL and NEEDED thing in human's lives. We hear it every single day now......they complain about almost everything as well. Thats sad.....WE TRIED. And we were shouted and beaten down, because not enough folks STOOD UP and FOUGHT TO STOP THIS LUNACY, to let the children WORK to achieve the BEST that they can do, instead of accepting the very minimum work and minimum amounts of effort. THAT doesnt achieve "greatness" in people. It CREATES mediocrity, and creates a selfish attitude of entitlement, but it especially creates ANGER and unhappiness the most.

The unattainable body types of previous Victoria’s Secret models and many fashion models have attributed to anorexia, body dysmorphia and low self esteem of many individuals. The part about "what about me ism" really rang true for me. Recently in an online sewing community the organizer released a free e-book about sewing more consistently and getting stuff done (as a companion to a webinar). This book had the audacity to recommend that people try to form "habits" and "routines". A community member claimed this was not sufficiently inclusive of neurodiverse people who allegedly can't form habits (they cited no scientific evidence supporting this), and the group demanded that the language be changed to "practice" and "rhythm" because that was somehow less triggering, even though it means the same thing but is less clear to most of the population. Apparently the idea of adapting general advice to their specific situation never occurred to them!

So by being ''inclusive'' we are muddling the waters for everyone? We are watering down language/concepts? Guess I'm not being inclusive by saying IMHO, there are obviously people who don't know what it means...

The problem I see here the most is that Neurodivergent itself is a broad thing, my son, two of my Daughters, my wife and I, have all been diagnosed as ND, it shows in different ways of course but none of them considered "Normal"
my son can only form a habit in certain ways due to being ADHD, but he is also Autistic so when he does form the habit it becomes a focus, my youngest daughter cannot form habits, I tend to Focus on things before learning a habit and my wife manages to do it well in that her habits and focuses seem to work together, but not like "normal people" people tend to think she is OCD, though she is not.
I suspect this community member might be of the "Fake Divergent" meaning people that self diagnose as Neuro Divergent when they are not actually on the spectrum at all and have never sought out professional advice.
maybe they know someone who is and think they act like them a bit and so they think they are too.
I am so bad with adaption of vague general advice, I usually have to get my wife to "translate" it for me in a way that makes more sense and is adaptable, but to demand someone change their book to suit their wants? dang, if they know what words need changing so specifically maybe they should write their own darn book for themselves,
oh and BTW, kudos to the community organizer for releasing that free ebook, such charity from good people like them really helps the world go round.

Exactly. Absolutely everyone needs a little 'special and unique' in their lives. I grew up watching old time movies when actors and actresses had that certain unobtainable glamour and mystery, and those movies, to me, represented a certain escapism which, every now and again, I craved.

Inclusivity started with children's sports where everyone was a winner, no team was the losing team, and everybody got a trophy. Thus eliminating the need for the competitive edge, the desire to excel, and the drive to become the best that you could be.

I thought about being a doctor once but realised pretty early on that I don’t have the type of intelligence needed for that type of job or to pass the UKCAT entry tests. It’s in everyone’s interest that I am excluded from that line of work and I’m not mad about it 🤣

Yes! I’m a dental assistant and I have patients ask me every day if I’ll go back to school to become a dentist. I say, “no, I’m not smart enough.” And they all assure me I am. I’m not! I do not have the IQ to be a doctor of dental medicine.

This reminds me of a kids book: “Don’t cry Big Bird”. Basically Big Bird has a hard time fitting in to all of the games his friends play because he’s too big.
He gets sad. So his friends find ways to help him feel included. They made some games bigger. Compensated by putting more kids on the other end of a see-saw, etc. everything was working well to be inclusive until they got to hide and seek. He was simply too big to hide. Then his compromise was to be IT instead of trying to hide. So even this book which tries to teach inclusivity also acknowledges that there isn’t always an equal inclusive solution to a problem. That even big bird had to make a compromise to participate in the game.
If we applied modern attitudes, Big Bird would have gone to all of his friends and insisted that to be inclusive they had to accommodate him, and for hide and seek he didn’t want to be it, he wanted to hide and they would have to find a way to accommodate him. For example, maybe people would have had to be blindfolded while it or pretend not to see him to make it fair. That’s the attitude people have right now. It definitely takes away the message of inclusiveness and moves it to the realm of self-denial.

Well, if Big Bird wants to be the hider, but the problem is he's just too big to hide easily, then I propose the modest solution of chopping him up into little pieces -- one for each of the other children -- and stashing them around the neighborhood. Problem solved, and no more whining from a bird.

That first response video is a classic case of smug vocal fry-y-y-y-y.
The second one clearly didn't listen to how the girl said she herself couldn't be a VS model, and was okay with that.
We have forgotten as a society that it's good to know how to lose as well as how to win.

One of the things I constantly harp on to my daughter about is being capable of losing gracefully.
You can't win all the time, but you can avoid looking like a complete idiot when you lose.

The irony behind the over forced inclusivity movement is that eventually it winds up excluding a group of people just to perpetuate a message. For example… 6 dwarfs are missing from Snow White. The villains in the new Robyn Hood are white. People get overlooked for jobs, etc because they don’t meet the box check. Most of my auditions that I attend now are open to everyone and it’s EXTREMELY difficult now to get past the first round whereas it used to be hard but achievable.
