Gerald's ISO testing showed that the camera may actually have dual native ISO's.... Things cleaned up immensely when he hit 16,000 ISO.
I am sure they would have announced that. Are you sure that ISO 16000 just activates a stronger noise reduction?
@@alboli23, Gerald mentioned on his livestream today, that he asked Sony about it and that all they said was "interesting"... And they wouldn't confirm it or deny it.
@@alboli23 if you go up to 12k its not worth it, go up to 16k and its wayy cleaner. Sony is crazy good
@@BK_BT Sony as well as almost all other companies apply noise reduction to the raw files. The raws aren't 100% raw. This is well documented. The only one I kNow for sure doesn't is black magic.

Well I'm still working with the original A7s, and to be honest, that still excites me despite having to work round the colour gamut and the stupid menu system. For less than £500 used, really not a big deal.

I'd like to see how this compares against the Arri Alexa Classic
Depends on the job, honestly Alexa classic imo still looks better despite it not being 4K. Arri just has some special sauce in all the sensors. Only Sony cam that compares is the Venice.

IMO this footage is not at all flattering to film people with. Its way too sharp "digital camera" looking. The blackmagic 6k is half the cost and actually has a "cinema" look to the footage... any Arri camera is going to look far more cinematic if thats what we are all going for here

Gene, low light noise actually seems to improve completely around 16,000 ISO according to Gerald Undone’s video. Try it at 16,000 ISO and see if it’s better than 12,800.

It's a low light beast! And as Gerald pointed out in his video, looks like the camera has dual ISO, so if you had set the ISO to 16000 it would look even better

@8:00 the A7s3 has 2 ISO "levels" or however its called. So, when you go up to 12k then its way way way better to go to 16k cause thats the point where the 2nd level kicks in.
You can make a side by side comparison and see how clean the 16k one is ; )
I reckon even the bosses over at Canon are starting to over heat after seeing how good this new A7siii is looking. I mean 8K raw sounds great on paper, just so long as it doesn't make that paper combust!

yes, thats what me makes wondering too the gh5 (i bought 1 year ago and i am happy with here since than) which released 3 years ago, for !only !! 2000 euros (now for about 800 - 1300) had some of these things like, 10bit, 4.2.2, 5 achses stabalised sensor, 180fps and so on, kind of impressiv. And this thing is much better yes, but gh5 is really, i think i would even buy her now if i need a cam, but now i will invest in lightening, drones, and so on
