I know you had a great visit. I did a 3 week solo European trip from Vienna to Paris in 2018 - as a retired senior woman. My last 5 days were in Paris, and although I had been there 3 times before, there is so much to see. However, this last trip, I really slowed down - walked miles every day sometimes aimlessly, spent more time sitting outdoors at cafes, and eating whatever I wanted. 😁

I was in Paris in July and all your tips are spot on...I found saying Bonjour and an opening sentence in French was easy and the locals appreciated the effort.
My first time in France I knew about 25 words of French. The next time that I traveled to France I knew a little more than 125 words, and I had a much better experience. I traveled to other cities, and often communicated in a combination of French and English.
Having visited Paris on several occasions- great advice and great video 😊 My tip would be, rather than asking if a person speaks English (which can be seen as somewhat impolite), simply start every conversation with "Bonjour, je suis désolé, je ne parle pas français. Je suis... (insert your nationality)- "Hello, I'm sorry, I don't speak French, I am..."- then continue in whatever fractured French you may have. Generally, if the person with whom you are speaking speaks English (better than your French), they will, very quickly, speak English to you if you are having difficulties. It shows your respect for the language and the culture which the French tend to appreciate.
If you are doing Duolingo - the french podcast or the audio lessons are the way to go for quickly learning some conversational elements. The regular lessons are a much slower way of building vocabulary! You two both made our trip to Paris so so much better, Thank you!

We just returned from a trip in July and it was so fun. The people were wonderful and so patient and kind. The RATP app was super helpful with the Metro if we were trying to get someplace at a specific time, and also noted if certain lines weren’t running (like during the last stage of the Tour de France). Leaving in 10 days, these guys are great in emphasizing the essentials in traveling to Paris. I’ll have to go back and rewatch some important videos and take notes.
It's our first time to Paris. We're from Toronto and are taking a Mediterranean cruise for 11 nights leaving from Marseille. We decided to fly to Paris as it's easier to find a direct flight and they always say to arrive early to deal with jet lag. We are to land at CDG and are (from your tips) taking the train to Gare de Lyon and staying at Mercure Paris Gare de Lyon. We chose this hotel because we're taking the bullet train to Marseille to leave for our cruise and as we noticed, it's not a huge city and public transit looks like the way to go. After the cruise we reverse the process and come back to Paris for a day then back to "The big smoke" (Toronto) Thanks to your videos we are creating an itinerary to see some of the "must sees". Waiting patiently for the Spain and France football leagues to try to catch a game with either Marseille, PSG, or Barca. Definitely going to Camp Nou whether there's a game or not. We bought the guide for Paris, and are enjoying the process. Thank you very much for all your tips. P.S. I have a daughter than is going to school in Montreal, a city I have always loved. I think of it as out north american Paris. :)
I love your video, I lived with my parents as a teenager...but it's amazing how things have changed in Paris, i see it through your posts and how the food too has become more multi cultural, even to see people eating in the street/street food is amazing because as youngster that was a no no...walking around the Blvd eating food. A Table was the rule....again you posts are great. A great video would be for the disabled/and the accessibility.
Fully agree! We used to travel to Paris a lot (via Eurostar) and found that taking a wheelchair around Paris is quite uncomfortable across the (many) cobblestone streets (pavés). A shame really, as Paris such a walkable city otherwise. A practical disabled guide/commentary from a local perspective would be really handy, although we accept it would not be easy for a non-disabled person to comment effectively. Love this channel, btw! 🫶🇫🇷👩🦽
I love listening to you Your voices have such an inviting tone Bright and joyful Your energy is so communicative Thank you for sharing your smiles And your light 😊🕊💕🕊💫
You covered most of the questions usually asked especially dress comfortable and in layers. I always advise to bring a waterproof coat/jacket. Through May, weather is temperate but can get rather cold or cool and it can rain anytime but that should not dampen your fun. The other tip maybe over looked was not to over pack as tourists almost always shop and come home with lots more than they came with sometimes having to buy another suitcase. We did that more than once as shopping is great in Paris especially in small local boutiques. Have fun!
Just to add if you have a handicap card, bring it with you. You can use it skip the line for popular museums and even save your pay for tickets (you and your partner).
Another great video! One thing I will just add is to look at which of the Paris/Euro banks are connected to your bank in the US. An example is that BOFA is connected with BNP Paribas and thus when you need cash from an ATM, you will not pay any transaction fee when you use the connecting bank in Pairs. :)
I just come back from paris !! I follow your guide, I went to a lot of the places you recommend to eat! for the transportation I like better the bus, so you can see everything. I struggle with the language but they were helpful and respond in english. The only thing I didnt knew anything about was Versailles, would like to have some of the info 😜 THANK YOU SO MUCH, looking forward to go back very soon!!
Thank you so much for all of this videos, they are so good and full of information. They've helped me so much to organize my trip to Paris! Merci beaucoup!!!
Amazing video as usual. Anytime is certainly the right time for Paris!! Recommend people research any fees that might be associated with using their credit or debit card overseas. Some banks and credit card companies charge a flat fee or percentage on international transactions, usually quantified as an 'exchange fee' on your statement. I recommend finding a card that specifically does not charge these fees (personally use Capital One Sapphire) because Les Frenchies are correct - you'll use your card almost everywhere. Equally important is calling to notify your bank and credit card companies of when you'll be internationally traveling so they don't automatically flag your card or decline a transaction as fraudulent during your travels abroad.
Thanks for the excellent advice. As a Parisian having travelled in loads of place I can say that in Paris, the key to people's heart is "Bonjour". Never start a sentence in English straight away as this will close you many doors. Just trying to speak a little French will start the multi-lingual capabilities of the people you are talking to. Yes renting a car in Paris, like in London or New York is a waste. Better use the excellent public transportation: faster and much cheaper, especially with Tourist day passes. Excellent suggestion about wearing confortable shoes because to really enjoy Paris, you need to walk. You will discover so many more things (hidden treasures). Avoid having a camera as this will label you as a tourist, just use your smart phone. Plan ahead about the key things you want to do as this may save you hours of waiting time in queues (Le Louvre, Eiffel tower, night attractions, etc). Shopping place is les grands magasins, Boulevard Haussman, including Le Printemps and Galeries Lafayette in the 8ème Arrondissement (8th District). You may even, for large purchases, get a VAT refund at the Airport when leaving for a non-EU country. Never have a fat wallet in your jeans' rear pocket (this is an invite to pickpockets). Enjoy your stay in Paris
Just returned from Paris in the last week of December, and we spent Christmas with our daughter who is now living in Paris... My wife and I enjoyed our almost two-week stay in the city... Your advice on scams and pickpockets in Paris is spot on. I'm a senior Asian tourist and they targeted me because they thought I'm alone, the pickpockets are caucasians, two males and a conniving female, they held onto each of my feet and I cannot move, luckily my wife and daughter made noises, and tried pushing the pickpockets. The male one pretended he dropped his earphone near my foot and show them to me before leaving the train hurriedly. They targeted Asians because they are smaller and easily recognizable and always pay in cash when eating and shopping. They haven't got anything from me because my credit card and cash are on the sleeve of my ski-down jacket and my iPhone is on my inner mid-layer sweater. Even before you enter the Metro train they are already profiling you, so always be aware of your surrounding. Don't ride a crowded train coach!
One question… can you two join me and my wife? We’re leaving for a wedding in Antibes in early September and then off to Paris for four nights. Your videos are fabulous! I’ll be tuning in A LOT over the next few weeks. So wonderful. The last time we were in Paris was our honeymoon, September, 1990. I think our hotel cost $300 a night then. I called them, $2,000 per night! Wild. Thank you for your help!!

Great advice. Re phone/laptop I was informed that chargers have built in adapters to handle the 220. You do need an adapter because our prongs do not work in the French/European configuration.
Heat waves in Paris can be brutal. Getting a hotel with AC in the summer is a must just in case. Also knowing what restaurants have AC is necessary during a heat wave, they are not kept as cool as in the US, but far better than nothing, and they get packed very quickly, make reservations!!!
I speak enough French but my brothers don’t when we visit . The number one advise for non French speakers is to learn hello, please, and thank you. Keep your mouth closed on the Métro . Keep your voice down. No one wants to hear your conversation. It’s uncouth and disrespectful to be loud! Always say Bonjour when you walk in any café or shop. You must acknowledge the people working there or you will get the cold shoulder. Bonjour is the magic word! 🙂
Thank you for your tips and videos! I'm pretty sure they help many peoplel (Brazilians like me, including) to discover this charming city! Allez, on y va
I've been traveling to Paris for more than fifty years and once lived in France for a year. My favorite time of year to visit is between November and March when the music and art season is in full swing and there are fewer tourists. The only time I take taxis are to and from the airport. At all other times I use the Metro or walk. You can even take a train from the airport into the city and connect with the Metro if you are on a tight budget. Taxis are very expensive. I stay at a small 3-star hotel in the 9th arrondisement not far from the Gare St. Lazare frequented by French business people. If you can afford it, make a reservation online at least one of the top restaurants, but go for lunch when you can have the fixed price menu. Otherwise, meals are more affordable at sidewalk cafes which list their daily lunch specials on chalk boards near the front door. They are nearly always good, especially in French neighborhoods away from the most touristy areas. Making lunch specials your main meal will save you a bundle.
Great video Les Frenchies! Your tips are well researched & very helpful to the novice & experienced tourist alike! Keep up the excellent vlogs- we look forward to them every wk!

Happened to me once at the cdg airport. I wonder if taxi drivers speak English, a french lady answered nicely"some do some don't, ask them or show address where to go". There was a younger man stood nearby reading his newspaper addressed to me " vous etes en France, parlez francais!!!!" Oui monsieur, je parle bien le francais et je peux facilement communiquer ici. Merci !!! 0:45 anytime? Ok for this gloomy December, but Paris will be nicer indoors ... Museums, restaurants, castles ... Unless you enjoy the poetry of the Paris-grey strolling by river Seine. The “King of skies” (Eugène Boudin-a few canvasses at the musée d’Orsay) did paint great views of the city’s sky, but I guess that was from the months of February and October ...

After the cruise we reverse the process and come back to Paris for a day then back to "The big smoke" (Toronto)
Thanks to your videos we are creating an itinerary to see some of the "must sees".
Discovered this channel recently and I'm just in love with it. Fantastic job! You guys are great!!
Very informative and well presented.
Who's HUNGRY?!
I love listening to you
Your voices have such an inviting tone
Bright and joyful
Your energy is so communicative
Thank you for sharing your smiles
And your light
😊🕊💕🕊💫
Of course, France is all about wine, but could you do a video on the local/regional beer? Merci.
Connaisseurs not connoisseurs 😅
Another great video! One thing I will just add is to look at which of the Paris/Euro banks are connected to your bank in the US. An example is that BOFA is connected with BNP Paribas and thus when you need cash from an ATM, you will not pay any transaction fee when you use the connecting bank in Pairs. :)
I just come back from paris !! I follow your guide, I went to a lot of the places you recommend to eat! for the transportation I like better the bus, so you can see everything. I struggle with the language but they were helpful and respond in english. The only thing I didnt knew anything about was Versailles, would like to have some of the info 😜
THANK YOU SO MUCH, looking forward to go back very soon!!
Get the Travel Guide, folks. It’s really helpful.
I’m also asian but born and been living in Île de France 🟦⬜️🟥🇫🇷
Thanks for your advise. Very useful!
Just got back from london and paris and your videos were so helpful, thank you!
This is the best practical video!!!!!
I stayed at the Warrick Hotel in Paris and Hotel staff was outstanding.
Thanks to your advice. I really had a good time in Paris. Your advice was very useful.
Great information! Merci! You answered all my questions! 😊
I don’t allow myself to be vulnerable to anyone because vulnerability can lead to emotional/physical harm especially if not aware of others intentions
Thanks for this wonderful video n for sharing d ten things u need to know before u come to Paris, France.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel 😁
Vos vidéos sont toujours excellentes et très agréables, bravo et merci pour votre travail .
Your vids are so helpful. In 4 weeks it will be my 5th trip to France in my lifetime. Am still learning a lot from you. Also, they are making me all the more excited.
Love your videos. You’ve put so much work into them! Any advice about the bedbug situation? What has been your experience been?
I love you guys, keep up the videos! Michael in Portland, Oregon. Vive La France
Thanks for the helpful tips, I'm making a mental note for when I do decide to visit Paris. I'm happy you shared your experiences on utube. God bless!🙏😊🙏😊
Every week, you always leave me wanting more....thank you for all your quality work, passion and content on Paris and France.
Heading to Paris in October, first/second week, what should I plan to wear?
I’ve watched a lot of your videos and you talked about summer and winter weather but not about fall.
Thank you! Love your videos!
Très belle et très jolie nouvelle video culturelle sur comment voyager á Paris, merci beaucoup pour cette nouvelle information, very beautiful and very georgeous video cultural of the day on the theme of the travels to Paris
Great tips as always! thanks!
I have just bought the Paris Travel Guide. Imatient to explore and the guide and Paris soon. Thank you for your very useful and nice videos.
I just arrived to Paris and I felt like a local (well almost, hahaha) thanks to this video, thank you!
you're very welcome
Those are all of the things I'm thinking about. Not worried. Been there before.
You 2 are sensational... everyone of your videos are gems...perfectly precise. Planning my trip as I type this!!
Great advice. Re phone/laptop I was informed that chargers have built in adapters to handle the 220. You do need an adapter because our prongs do not work in the French/European configuration.
You English is just superb, I've learnt few words here. Thanks !
I love your videos. They are so helpful. I downloaded your handbook and made myself a binder for my trip to Paris in two weeks.
I love visiting Europe in winter. To us, it is easier to get warm than to get cool. You'd be surprised how many hotels don't have AC.
Just found out your channel 15 mins ago and I definitely love it. Subscribed!! Greetings from Bangkok, Thailand 🇹🇭✨💫… cheers! 🥂
Heat waves in Paris can be brutal. Getting a hotel with AC in the summer is a must just in case. Also knowing what restaurants have AC is necessary during a heat wave, they are not kept as cool as in the US, but far better than nothing, and they get packed very quickly, make reservations!!!
@@LesFrenchiesTravel
? Paris is northern than Montreal. You do not need AC except in offices with large glasses in July between 12 and 16.
❤ Thanks for sharing. We are planning a trip soon. These tips help. ❤
Merci pour les bons conseils.
Graat, informative video. It's nicely laid out, easy to follow.
Thank you. Enjoy your travels!
Good overall advice. When it comes to hotels, I would always choose one that offered a good breakfast as part of the daily rate.
You're a lovely lady. Thank you for your video. I'm planning a trip to Europe. Merci Beaucoup!
Love your video!! Thank you!
Great video Les Frenchies! Your tips are well researched & very helpful to the novice & experienced tourist alike! Keep up the excellent vlogs- we look forward to them every wk!
thanks for the video~ personally I love to travel Paris around end of May to early June, nice weather and relatively lower price for hotel~~~ also avoid to travel during fashion week, hard to get a room or even grab a taxi~~~~
What a useful video, you guys are the best! So thoughtful and detailed - much appreciated! 🙏🥰🥰🥰 I’ve been to wonderful Paris twice and yet this video is super helpful as I’m planning to come again 🥰 Merci!
Another great video! One comment about Orange. Long lines are common: Monday’s, mornings at opening and lunch hour.
Thanks - brilliant content! Thinking of going to Paris in May, 2023.
We sent our 17 year old son to the UK and France from Australia. He played rugby.
Love love love the video❣️Great info! My husband and I will be in Paris for four days and we’re pretty excited.
Can you please do a video about the best restaurants for traditional French Foods such as Boeuf bourguignon, Coq au vin, Soupe à l’oignon, Ratatouille,… The kind of food that is great for colder weather? Thank you
Excellent primer, one of the very best. Merci!
Love your videos! We've been to Paris once and are planning a trip back in October 2023. Can't wait and always something new to learn with Les Frenchies!
I love your vids! I used the prev ones to navigate Paris this month! The scam vids were on point. The entrance to the Louvre was great cause the line was HUGE. You are amazing. Thank you
THANK YOU
Happened to me once at the cdg airport.
Hahaha! He gave me a funny look.
But french people are cute, in a way.
Je serai dans Le quartier Latin Paris en quelque semaines pour visiter ma cousine. Je suis tres excitee!!
I love Paris
Awesome video thanks for both of you. I went to Paris last month after running BERLIN-MARATHON. I really love everything in Paris people, places and food especially croissants 🥐. Will be back again for sure 😁
This is really helpful, thank you
Wonderful advice, wished I had it for my first trip there. Thoroughly enjoy all your vlogs. Your are such a friendly, warm and informative couple. 👌🤗
Good information, thanks for sharing!!!!
Going to paris nxt week... your videos are really helpful❤️❤️
You guys have fantastic content....
