    I understand you're building to suit your needs and likes, and you're building a great machine. I just wanna lend some knowledge when it comes to building an exhaust system.
    If you get curious about the performance of your exhaust system, whether increased or decreased. Paint it.
    Using a standard enamel paint. Nothing like VHT or BBQ paints. Paint the entire length of your pipe from head flange to end(no muffler should be installed). Thr paint will burn off....to a point along the length of the pipe. Run engine under loaded conditions. Observe where the paint stops burning off. That's all the tuned length of pipe you need for maximum performance of that single cylinder engine. Cut and install your muffler there.
    Long run times, fewer spark plug changes, oil life increased, and maximum performance will be achieved. It may not be where you wanna mount it though.

    Lean to the outside tire when turning. It will make it whip right around. When you lean in you put all your weight on the inside tire so it'll just push. You need the weight on the outside tire to let the inside tire spin.

    The question shouldn't be, "Was this a bad idea?", but, instead, should be, "Was getting the kit version a smart idea?". We all (ok, maybe not 'all'...but, most of us do) enjoy building kits. After all, a kit allows one to 'understand' the vehicle. In almost all cases, I'll take a kit over RTR (even my 2WD Slash was built from a kit version). However, there comes times when one must factor in the value of their time. When the amount of the time it takes to build far exceeds the 'value' of ones time, that's when it becomes 'smarter' to purchase the RTR version (or, when available, the ARTR). Knowing how much of a blast riding this would be, the amount of time it would take to build isn't worth it to me...so, I'd spend the extra money on the RTR.

    Grow up riding the old 3 wheelers and own hundreds and there all about leaning the design should of put the rear back more to balance it but having a little more round wheel up front will help turning plus leaning alot forward if they would of stuck rear axle back about 5-8 more inches would of handled way better back when I was younger we converted a mini bike to a trike add a swinger arm from old quad and stuffed in a 12 hp uncle had around and beat it for years they were fun times.keep up the good work just looking at that gives me so many ideas it looks possible to add suspension with little add length and wouldn't need much fab work .p.s need some pvc on back wheelers and do some drifting see some videos of people doing with there's.

  • @The_RC_Guru
    @The_RC_Guru ปีที่แล้ว

    Turning is definitely going to be a lean forward for front traction type of thing. My home built mini trike is the same. And the locked rear axle reallllly don’t help. After you get it a few hours the belt will be broke in and very predictable in your acceleration. Plus you’ll have a few hours getting the feel for the whole thing. Looks fun as heck.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That makes sense, the belt breaking in makes me feel much better! It needs some slip.

  • @Mikey1962
    @Mikey1962 ปีที่แล้ว

    The trike is looking really good Josh. Back in the late 80’s I had a Honda 250 Big Red trike and I loved that thing. At first it was difficult to drive because coming from riding motorcycles the whole turning the machine is different, motorcycles you lean into the turn but trikes from what I remember you had to put your weight on the opposite of the turn, basically lean right to turn left. That whole concept took a while to get used to but doing it correct would result in the machine turning on a dime. Are you going to paint it orange and black ? I cant wait to see the finished product. I was curious as to why you didn’t make it electric but figured battery size might have something to do with it. Anyways,great job so far. Keep the rubber side down. Regards…..Mike

    I put one of these little Chinese motors on a mountain bike back in 08 and with a few modes the moped aspect was left behind. It is loud as shit but it rips. Does 45 with ease and still gets a million miles to the gallon. I can see it is the exact same system. Your front tire isn't inspiring your ability to turn. And again I would reinforce the head tube friend.

    3 wheel machines tip over in a turn going down hills. Be careful. Spent years on dirt bikes and quads. Your smile was pricless. The more protective gear you wear the harder you can drive this evil toy. Be safe. You only get 1 set of nuts.

      Have fun. My 2 wheel electric 1500 watt superscooter does 35 mph. happy at 12 mph. Enjoy the scenery and nature. Its like a big rc and bike all in 1. Got no time for broken bones.

      You RTR guys are useless. The joy is in making something yourself. I've been racing go carts and lawn mowers for 35 years and if you want it you have to build it. That's one thing I'm hating about the crawler community now. To willing to buy RTR, and settle for garbage, or throw half of what you bought in the garbage.
      Get off your ass and away from your keyboard and be creater instead of just a lazy user.

      They actually do offer them complete, it’s the only way you can buy them right now. They aren’t doing the bare chassis right now.

      Meh, electric is boring for this stuff! It needs to make noise! If it’s going to be electric it needs to be decent handling, easy to ride, etc. This is more like a chopper.

    • @highwaytohell7099
      @highwaytohell7099 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I was wondering why you didn't go electric, considering you're in a dense residential area. Or it won't get driven down the street often?
      Neighbour like 5 houses down wigged out at our nitro and 1/5 petrol because "I'm a shift worker"
      1/7 electric makes its own noise, but less annoys the grumpy neighbours haha.
