I'm pretty confident if you put Will Bosi or Jakob Shupert in those competitions they'd annihilate the world records. A very good but not world class climber, Emil Abrahamsson, broke a few of them by bodyweight by just showing up to a grip strength competition

Ideally, you get into starting position, then you lean back, and you keep that lean the whole way up and down each rep. If you're swinging forward as it goes up, raising your ass off the seat a bit, then sorta sitting down and leaning back as you pull, it gets cheaty. It's what most people seem to do in gyms but it's not perfect form.

That's just incredible. I knew Magnus is strong, but this is beyond strong. I'm around 220lbs and lifting for 10 years, considered strong by just about anyones standards and my working sets on it are 70kg. I couldn't move 80kg per side for 10 reps. He moved 140 😮
It shows the difference of Scandinavian mentality.. humility and thinking you are never good enough.. vs Americans or Brits.. who make every small thing they have achieved appear 500 times bigger and greater than it really is...
It's not really 140kg though, but super impressive regardless. The lever where they put the weights is significantly shorter than the one on which they pull, so the "felt weight" is not 140kg but less. Those levers would have to be of equal lengths for it to feel like the actual weight.
It warms my heart to see how kind and humble these giants of their fields can be with each other, no matter the different in domain or physical size. I think Magnus is right, square/cube law with body weight proportionality on a lift then being easier the smaller you are.
Its great to see these guys from different disciplines get together, I saw Magnus be impressed/surprised how far a big guy like Eddy got climbing. Makes for great content.

So you can completely concentrate and control the movement, not having the fear of loosing your grip But in m opinion it’s better to train without straps as long as it‘s possible, because otherwise your grip strength will never be high enough for your back strength any more
Magnus does this sort of thing all of the time. He goes around freaking people out with his climbing ability, power, and grip strength. Truly a legendary man.
What’s crazy to me is how insanely clean Magnus form is. The pulldowns before twice his bw were pretty much flawless, the pulls were low with full range. Just…….crazy Go to a gym and try to do a pulldown at that pace with half the weight and you’ll realize what madness this is
im 6ft4 120kg been going gym for a very long time, magnus is stronger than me, his muscle fibers must be SO dense because he doesn't even look that big, ripped sure but not big, this is inhuman levels of strength for his weight.... i need to start rock climbing.
It's so awesome to watch strong guys do gym moves with good form despite heavy weights. Gyms are filled with big guys who cheat with heavy weights like there's no tomorrow, and they never get any development. Big props to both of you for clean form! Keep it up guys!
For a little perspective on Magnus's background btw, he isn't just a retired pro climber/calisthenics/youtube guy. For most of his career Magnus was legitimately one of the highest level rock climbers in the world. His hardest climb was a route called Ali Hulk, which was graded 9b at the time; for reference very few people in history have managed to climb a 9b route (with the list of people having gone beyond 9b to 9b+ and 9c even slimmer), and he's also completed a number of other seriously impressive routes.
It just shows there is something too be said for high rep lower weight training. And for training outside machines/calibrated weights so that not all forces are balanced out.
This is one of the few times I've seen Eddie legitimately impressed by someone. You can tell he's barely believing what he's seeing from a guy weighing 160lbs (72kg). The other thing is that Eddie is insanely strong in pull exercises so keeping up with even a fraction of his strength at 72kg is just mind blowing.

I keep telling and showing people the power of Calisthenics. The cross over of pull ups, dips and pushups is insane and here is another classic example. Folks when you are doing double plate chin ups, the lat pulldown is simply a warmup.

Magnus has immense upper back strength his squat would be mediocre at best
It just shows there is something too be said for high rep lower weight training. And for training outside machines/calibrated weights so that not all forces are balanced out.
This is one of the few times I've seen Eddie legitimately impressed by someone. You can tell he's barely believing what he's seeing from a guy weighing 160lbs (72kg).
The other thing is that Eddie is insanely strong in pull exercises so keeping up with even a fraction of his strength at 72kg is just mind blowing.

His entire body is a pulling engine. He spends his days hanging from poor holds by a few fingers, it makes gym equipment so comparatively easy

I've seen a lot of Magnus' videos. It can't be overstated just how strong he is for such a small guy.

I'm blown away every time I watch Magnus do normal gym things at open-weight strongman weights.
I keep telling and showing people the power of Calisthenics. The cross over of pull ups, dips and pushups is insane and here is another classic example. Folks when you are doing double plate chin ups, the lat pulldown is simply a warmup.

For Christ sake Mike Tyson didn’t even touch a weight till that BS prison sentence. Don’t hate or deny that Calisthenics is an extremely from of functional training that carries over into ANY and EVERY sport. So get to pulling.
