@@oyuyuy Huh? Magnus stayed relatively straight. Eddie swung back as he pulled down.
Ideally, you get into starting position, then you lean back, and you keep that lean the whole way up and down each rep. If you're swinging forward as it goes up, raising your ass off the seat a bit, then sorta sitting down and leaning back as you pull, it gets cheaty. It's what most people seem to do in gyms but it's not perfect form.

@@troelsknudsen253no it isn’t. For pure muscle contraction and activation it‘s better to use straps.

For a little perspective on Magnus's background btw, he isn't just a retired pro climber/calisthenics/youtube guy. For most of his career Magnus was legitimately one of the highest level rock climbers in the world. His hardest climb was a route called Ali Hulk, which was graded 9b at the time; for reference very few people in history have managed to climb a 9b route (with the list of people having gone beyond 9b to 9b+ and 9c even slimmer), and he's also completed a number of other seriously impressive routes.

When he's working on machines meant to focus on one exercise, he engages his entire body for maximum strength. The fear of one point of failure = death as a rock climber will probably do that.
