Andy "aTrippyFarmer" Dole is a 6th generation farmer from Central Illinois. On this farm, Andy works alongside his father, Marty, his uncles, Chris and Jeff, and his sister, Katie, to grow corn and soybeans on some of the finest dirt in the world. Andy and his family are deeply rooted in the area, operating a large farm that traces it origins back into the 1800s. Although some tracts did not stand the test of time, Andy and his family still grow corn and soybeans on fields that have been in the family for longer than even the oldest members of the farm have been alive. We do, we have, and we always will take tremendous pride in calling this piece of paradise our home. Andy was a Bronze Tablet graduate of the University of Illinois in the field of Crop Sciences, following the same path as his father and late grandfather.
It would be misleading for Andy to claim that this life is one that came by chance; rather, as a member of two multi-generational farm families, it was simply in his blood. His passion for agriculture traces back to his early youth--some of his fondest, earliest memories being of days spent riding in the combine with his father and grandfather. Although his understanding of the lifestyle was much less complex in the beginning, the love he has for farming, and its industry has only appreciated through time. As this dream blossomed into adulthood, Andy now works relentlessly, and tirelessly, to chase his own dreams and to build a farming operation of his own alongside his family.
We, as a whole operation, are handymen, electricians, mechanics, landscapers, accountants, economists, caretakers, stewards, and, most importantly, farmers, and we take an incredible amount of pride in our work. There is no challenge too overwhelming, no situation too stressful, and no problem too difficult for us to take on, and we want to take you along with us. Welcome to our farm and welcome to our lives. You have the best seat in the house to watch the everyday chaos of farming unfold--we usually only get concerned when things aren't going wrong!

I think I've watched every episode you've put out. This is the first time I've seen you look officially "beat". Adding the spraying to the routine is seriously adding 1/3 more work to you're plate.
It is a bit more work to be done each day, but that is just part of getting the job done. I was pretty beat in this video. On top of probably staying up late and getting up early for spraying, planting, and editing videos, I was also a little bit sick… bad timing for that!!
I love the way your family works together through thick and thin.... one of the things I miss most about farm life!! God bless you all.
Ex dairy guy.
Wow! Great video. You are getting a lot done.
Family is what makes this all possible, even if they can be a little frustrating at times… best wishes!
🖖Always a pleasure Sir.✌️
The ils on the front axle has been available since the 8020 series came out, it is definitely a game changer
Dude your Marty humor is 100%! Reminds me of a few dads I know. Just think: you will be the same way. 🙂 Thanks for sharing Andy. Awesome content. I always learn something from you that benefits our hobby farm. Stay safe. John from SD.
As they say, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! 🤣
Always enjoy your videos. Keep um coming.
Don’t worry about the content Andy, it’s all good, that’s a pretty good run without losing or damaging a camera. Get some sleep young man, tomorrow will be a better day, you have to have crappy days to make you enjoy the good days even more. Keep em comin and God Bless🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸
I appreciate that. Life is all about perspective!!!
We own a 8320r and usual run front duals on it but this previous planting season took them of and noticed a light and day difference between the straight track lines with the front duals making it track straighter than the singles
Interesting. I bet that the front duals either add weight or allow the tractor to steer easier, or both. I think they are a no-brainer for a planting tractor.
Like always!! You Do A Great Job! Top Notch Outfit 👍 Great Equipment! Best Channel On TH-cam Hands Down Best Commentary 👌
I agree, and even though another great guy, the millennial farmer, has a bigger following on UB2B than this channel..... I feel like here is a better, more informational and educational place for me.
👍👍
Ex dairy guy
@Chip Davis Andy is blessed with the ability to explain in a way that keeps it interesting 30 mins with him seems like a 5 minute video.
I always like watching you’re videos sorry for the loss of you’re camera
👍Thanks
You can keep planting during a Regeneration cycle, ease off throttle.
Enjoyed the video 😊
Thanks!!
Feels like watching Andrew Camarata, in the first week with a new machine "it broke for no reason!" 😂 And yes I'm no better and would absolutely break stuff, too, if someone was silly enough to put me in the cab.
There’s always someone to be blamed for something breaking…usually it’s the manufacturer!
I'm guessing your dad will have a new seed tender and planter tractor for next year
Probably no seed tender, but I think a planter tractor is on the list!
I think the action cam videos are better than the drone ones, I mean obviously because your talking an explaining stuff, your doin a great job Andy, keep up the hustle an thanks for sharing long videos an I look forward to seeing the next video 💪🇺🇲🤙✊👌
I appreciate that. Thanks!!!
I’d rather turn more then bouncing over those ridges. That’s tough on the suspension and boom in the long term. Those booms welds can crack and break if it is bounced alot all the time. And you will wear out w suspension So keep that in mind when choosing your spraying direction
I learned my lesson pretty quickly there. I won’t do that again!
Dandy Andy! Listen, if you put a globe on the corn planter it will talk to your globe on the tractor and it will take the wiggle out of your squiggles.
I know a few local guys moving to that setup. It is probably in the cards for the future!
We have an 8360R with an ILS front end and front duals and it fishtails just like yours does just not quite as bad.
Hmmm. Maybe it is a GPS issue!
Are you on UHF 150 Mhz or VHF 400mhz? 50w is Vhf more likely. uHF needs a hilltop Repeater on the nearest Water Tower or highest Grain Bin. Then you can get a Handheld radio connection.
I think UHF, but I am not sure!
again your such a good teacher :) I have a question on the sprayer... do those nozzles twist so you can change your nozzle size really quickly? [ are all three sizes already installed so all you have to do is select the one you want with a twist ?] Thanks for another great video :)
Yes they do. Those nozzle bodies twist around to change which one is active, and you can also twist the individual nozzles themselves off without much issue.
Thanksandy
Thank you for watching!!!
Does your DB60 have an easy fold option. I’ve notice that a lot of farmers use that the newer plantera
It does. Someone told me that you shouldn’t use it for the DBs, but I’ve heard others say that it is okay to use.
Valve bodies don’t work right for the most part when they were not cleaned out properly when used last. Especially when used last in fall and it sits over winter and spring time usage brings problems. I take off all my nozzles at the end of the year after the sprayer is cleaned out soak them all. And inspect them. Then in spring install the nozzles you want to use again. This seems to reduce nozzle and nozzle body problems/failure for us in a big way. Cheers.
That is great advice. I will remember that this fall when I am done with the sprayer!
Get a leash for the camera! Accessory cord snall nylon braided and a clip.
You got great video a little less with all the numbers but love all the action
Howdy trippy
👋👋👋
Your doing fine on content considering you are so busy, absolutely.......
There are a lot of sacrifices made to make the farm and the TH-cam work at the same time. You would never even begin to know just by watching one of these videos.
Mama said theere'll be days ilke this, 19:53 😊
You need a backup for that sprayer, right now you are the main cog on the farm.😊
The sprayer has added a lot of responsibility to my days, but that is okay!
Trad it in for Full Emissions and a tank of DEF.
Unfortunately, the DEF systems seem to be more reliable than the Interem Tier 4s.
Hi from Australia Andy. I got my first front axle suspension in 2002. Of course the boss complained that it was a waste of money until he used it in a very rough field then said it was a good idea he got it. Go figure. As for emissions out here I just saw brochure from large red tractor company offering choice of stage 3 (egr) or stage five (def) engines in their large tractors. Some smaller companies don’t even bring def out here.
Where’s out here??
Can’t you read mate. I said hi from Australia.
@@davidthorne2129
Geeze
Guess you didn’t bother to think
I’m in Australia too,and I do ad blue
But something tells me
Im not bothering too
Sorry Stephen. I’m nsw central tablelands Mudgee area. 2nd last week the land paper big red tractor company brochure for their maxxum and puma models option of tier 3 or stage V engines. There are some companies that only bring in adblue models and some only bring in egr models and some bring in both. Youn can ask the companies what they do and make your choice. If you don’t want def you may have to change company. There is no law here that says agriculture has to have stage V in new tractors.
@@davidthorne2129
First one word made a difference!
I could have taken more time to explain what I meant but I was time poor at the time.
I’m in WA so it’s a little too far to be able to help with the Adblue unfortunately
Have a good day cobber
Fold the mirrors and foot flat😂🇳🇿🇦🇺🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇦
Most farmers just clean the tip don’t replace them
Clearly hes made of money lmao... Ole Trippy money 💰 bags.
You need a little wash sink and a brush to clean the nozzles. pressure water source for testing 5 to 50 psi .
And spare Breakaway bolts.
"Control Alt Delete"... aKA restart. 😊
Yeah farmers don't have a alot of money 2 replace them we just clean em out unless you're a commercial farmer that can afford it
Why put out $400K + relacement parts for a motorized sprayer instead of a wide boom pull behind sprayer that has no engine to maintain ? Just asking ?
A pull-behind sprayer runs over more crops and is incapable of spraying corn fungicide. How many big operations run a pull-behind for their main sprayer? Very few. There is a reason...
Andy, thanks, why are pull behind sprayers unable to spray fungicides ? It's about nozzle size- Right ?
@@philhosier9185 no it is about ground clearance. I wouldn’t even want to spray soybean fungicide with one. They’d tear up way too many beans
Might want to try stream nozzles for 32 so it won't rust your machine so bad.
Usually your putting down herbicide also
@@agger838 you can have multiple tips
I know it's easy to say and harder to do mate, but look after yourself as well. The time you steal to be with your family, even if it is in the cab on the go, is important, but try to get a little "time for me" where you can. Get some sleep lad, you look buggered! regards from Queensland, Australia.
Thanks for the suggestion. We only have to run so hard for a short while, so sometimes you burn the wick at both ends for a week or two. Best wishes!
well i can imagine which tractor might be saying bye bye this year
I am pushing for that!!!
Get Lenny another hat for the tractor.
Something wrong with emissions system on that tractor. Might be bad dosing injector
It’s days on our farm are probably getting numbered!!
Where is your farm ???
Mattoon, IL.
👍👍
Should be able to just clean the tips instead of replacing. But if not comfortable or don't know how better off waiting till you have someone show you how to do correctly.
I can clean the tips, but it was just faster to put a new one on. The nozzle bodies were the ones that I didn’t know if they could be cleaned out.
Dude. Know it's hard but don't get down on yourself just some things don't go as planned . Been there myself.
That is good advice. Thank you!
I don't remember you mentioning that you are having another child before but congratulations.
Thank you!!
Why are you in such a hurry all the damn time? Seems like you break more stuff while trying to fly through it than you would when you take it essy
Ideal planting conditions and rain on the way, I would be pushing hard too.
Timeliness is everything when you're working with Mother Nature!
👍👍
