  • A quick walkaround of this Toyota LandCruiser FJ60 where we've done a stage 2 restoration and installed an LS3 Erod emission legal crate engine. The truck features a body off, glass out paint job, suspension lift, and LS3 V8 with NV4500 transmission.

    I just picked one up. The body has very little surface rust but need some mechanical work. I’m planning on swapping the 4.0 L v6 from a crashed Tacoma. My plan is to make it reliable to drive it daily for a few months then use it as a weekend toy to go camping, snowboarding and beach trips

    This was the vehicle I leaned stick on when I was 16, always wondered how it would look restored and upgraded. Thank you for that

    Did you end up altering the frame and/or the brakes to accommodate the new power ? Thanks.

    Beautiful, is that Toyota alpine white? My 60 is in prepping for paint and I really like what I see here.

    Hi, I'm trying to do an EROD LS3 swap too. I intend to stick it in my 95 Nissan Z. I plan to use the OEM Nissan 5-speed manual. Does the EROD ECM work with non-GM transmissions?
    Plus, I intend to get all the gauges to work on the instrument panel e.g. RPM, odometer, mph, temp, oil pressure, etc. Does your EROD system work with all that? Thanks.

    Basically about to swap my engine swap from and 1uz fe vvti to an LS3 on my kzj78 Land Cruiser Prado. Main question for me is regarding the transfer case. Can a stock transfer case handle that much power . Also I think I will upgrade the from and rear axles from a Land Cruiser 100 series . What are your thoughts ? Thanks

    • @dougdelong6161
      @dougdelong6161 ปีที่แล้ว

      The split-case transfer case is plenty strong for an LS. We've built many of them and never had a problem, however anything can be broken if you beat on it hard enough!

    I know, if you have to ask you can’t afford it, but I have to ask how much did the conversion cost? My son has a 1984 FJ60 and would love to do something like this. Thanks.

    I hate to ask, but I will ask, how much would an engine/trans swap along with a 1.5" lift cost for a 1984 FJ60. Body, paint, interior are fine, my son is wanting to do an upgrade. Has the original 2F engine, but it is old and tired. Thanks. Great job you guys did here!

    Great LS Swap MOD, and Content,
    On an 80's Series, What GM Auto Transmission would be best behind LS3 or L92 ~ 4 Speed, 4 Speed w OD, or 6 Speed, Does GM have a 6 Speed with a Manual Shift Mode like Tundras ?

    • @WellSortedAutomotive
      @WellSortedAutomotive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we use the 6L80 because it has better first gear ratio than the four speed options. It has a tap-to-shift feature which we use so that in off road conditions you can select and hold any gear. Watch for a feature video on an 80-series Land Cruiser we just completed we'll be releasing in the next few weeks.

    What size are those tires?

    Any idea on what kind of mpg its getting with the 33's??
    Ive seen claims that the erod ls3 can get 25mpg, but in what, i dont know.
    Ive been considering the same engine for my 88 chevy truck that i want to bring back to a daily driver. I have california smog to contend with, so the erod is very appealing. However, so are the smaller 4.8 and 5.3 ls v8's for fuel economy reasons. Only those routes will come with all the headaches of passing smog!

    • @WellSortedAutomotive
      @WellSortedAutomotive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've never seen/heard of an LS swap FJ60 getting 25mpg. I'd say 15 is a good estimate but a lot depends on how you drive and your tire/height/weight. I would recommend the Erod for ease of smog and resale value, and I don't think you'll notice any significant fuel economy improvement with the smaller engines.

    What tire size are you running on this? My 62 has these same stock wheels, any recommendations on how to go about refurbishing them? Great vid!

    • @WellSortedAutomotive
      @WellSortedAutomotive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a 33x10.5 tire. Stock wheels are chrome so you can use ordinary chrome polish and/or steel wool to help clean them and make them shine again.
