@custerplays I play a lot more at Breakpoint because I prefer it in graphics and gameplay, but Wildlands is superior in everything else. History, campaign, difficulty, customization, the intensity of the gunfights, relationship and collaboration with local forces (was among other things was one of the most popular news but that Ubisoft did not want to deepen). I also talked about it in a video and I would love to know what you think.

I cannot help but feel that the devs were very disheartened with the reception that wildlands received (70/100 on metacritic) even though they poured their blood, sweat and tears into it for 5 years. The level of research that went into this game was on another level.

That's why I run back to Wildlands and can't stand breakpoint anymore... Wildlands feels so alive and unique, Aurora is just a generic game map - I also feel that people played the game wrong, let me explain, Wildlands with the default HUD and dificulty settings is indead a 70/100 game, but bumping up the difficulty and removing 95% of the HUD It's a 90/100 game, add the FPS mod and Its a easy 95/100 game.

One thing i love about wildlands over breakpoint, is the fact that the AI teammates in Wildlands actually have a personality. In my opinion, Breakpoint brings a lot of irmpovement (normal since it was released after) but we are sorely lacking in immersion in the story. I much prefer Wildlands. A very immersive universe that we never tire of. Example among many others but, the simple fact of getting in a car and having the local music. The language of the country, the colors, the clothes. It's a very strong identity and I love it! And on Breakpoint, when a car approaches, you don't hear it (yet when you drive it, it's noisy, it doesn't make sense) Breakpoint is not bad, far from it. I love to play it! But my crush is clearly Wildlands

I agree with most of your ideas, except I don't want a HUGE massive map. The bigger the map, the emptier they feel in my opinion. I want slightly smaller, more detailed, immersive and alive maps. Also I hate the fact that I have to waste endless hours and time flying or driving from one place to another in a map that feels so empty to do any sort of mission. I think smaller maps, open maps like in Metro Exodus with multiple different biomes and mission styles would do very well.

I first played Breakpoint about a month ago, I grabbed it on sale and it was super worth it. Now about three days ago I bought Wildlands too and I'm currently playing through it. It really surprises me how both of these games manage to be quite similar yet very different at the same time. The thing that stuck with me the most is how drastic Nomad changed between games, not just his voice actor but he was much more vocal in Wildlands and I really liked it. Plus him saying "Shitballs" and "Fucking hell" when crashing always crack me up

  • @silverpuma7386
    @silverpuma7386 3 ปีที่แล้ว +24

Both games have their drawbacks and good points, my advice is get both on sale and they will reward you with 100's of hours of playtime. My main dislike in Wildlands was the way killed enemies just disappeared, that was so unrealistic even for a game. In Breakpoint, I thought the buildings and landscape for the most part were sterile and bland, but I did like the introduction of the ability to throw an unlimited number of shells for lures. I agree with Custerplays the crouch animation in wildlands is really poor and though better in Breakpoint it's still not great.

To me the difference is, WL was a solid game from the beginning so they were able to work out the issues into a nice polished game, since the issues were mostly superficial. BP was not a solid game from the start as suggested by the fact the game improved after they back peddled everything (ie: killed loot shoot, neutered drones, added team mates) these were all supposed to be defining features that they had to reverse. To me playing the game now, it’s certainly better but it just feels band-aided.

@@CusterPlays They are. But Breakpoint could have been so much more. The trailer is what pushed me to buy this game. Stranded on an island facing enemies who are to be the best soldiers, led by a badass Rambo nemesis. But nope we just got emptiness. And I think this is because of how much freedom we have. Normally, we shouldn't be able to make 10 steps without enemies trying to get u. I would have put somekind of a system that would monitor your actions. You make noise or kill random patrols, the whole island turn on u. You stay stealthy, you have a bit of freedom. A bit like those open worlds games where committing crimes make npc antagonistic. Drive and enemies as well as those drones on wheels would follow and ambush u. Just like in the trailer. Flying would be a whole lot noisier than what we have in the game. Walking would just be safer option but would take a lot of time and energy as random ambushes would happen regardless of where u are. Sometimes I let myself get caught by azrael drones just because I want to be aggressively chased. But it is basically a L doing so if u play on extreme.
And I'm not even mentioning the team u get who are so generic . Adding recruiting missions, loyalty missions should be a must as the island would be come alive through them thanks to those missions which would explore their past, reactions they made and relationships they established in the island before joining u and those sometimes annoying Wildlands random dialogues

In my opinion you can't really compare wl and bp, and here's why:
Wildlands is a finished game. While the gameplay didn't age all that well I think it reached it's full potential with some minor issues that can be easily fixed.
Breakpoint however was rushed as hell with features that were pushed by the higher ups for no reason that took time to implement which took time away from making the game actually good. While it's definitely a better game then it was it took 1 whole year of updates to get to where we are now, leaving little time for actual content updates.
Otherwise great video providing lots of objective info but at the end of the day the topic is highly subjective. Loved the jokes too!

I agree with everything you said, including a couple points. In Wildlands the AI s shit. Unrealistic as it can be made. Having the AI swarm my position after a sync shot or use of the rebel mortars is just lazy. Having them spawn all around you as soon as an alert goes up is just trash.
One of the best things about Breakpoint is using the different classes. I play Pathfinder or Echelon when I'm solo, but love being the Medic in a group. The camo and detection system is much more realistic in this game as well.
Everything I like about Wildands is bad in Breakpoint, namely the world, story, vehicles, and overall atmosphere. Breakpoints gunplay, movement, stealth tactics, and classes make Wildlands look ridiculous.

Looks like I'm the only one who's like WL movement and camera position more than BP. I can literally adjust my position and control the movement with way much more control. Camera fixed on nomad's back and sideway movements is WIN for me.
    Now BP:
I can't deal with prone movement in BP because Nomad is incapable to move in sideway or backway to adjust the position, he just turn the entire body to the direction...
Or the auto cover that have keeping pull me in the walls like a glue.
Or the free movement to any direction with weapon in hands. You literally turn back to your enemy. No backway or sideway movements.
Camera in BP should be fixed on nomads back like 90% of the third shooter games.
Even the division have better camera and movement than BP.
I talk about camera and movement. Not realism or mechanics.

I bought Breakpoint when they released the "immersive" mode that got rid of gear score and such.
I played it with a friend, and we suck more hours into it than I could even count.
Over time, I would eventually turn on every option I had turned off (to get a more "tactical" experience) in Breakpoint. The game they designed was fun. It felt rewarding. It was *good*.
Hundreds of hours later, it stands as one of my favorite Ghost Recon titles.
Perhaps, going forward, they could lock things like the gear score behind certain milestones. Perhaps forcing the player to hear the campaign before they have to worry about gear upgrades would help as it would offer the tactical experience most players want, while still offering an endgame grind for those who need a sense of progression after they've conquered most of the challenges the game can offer.
All I know is...Breakpoint is an underappreciated gem.

    Excellent review Custer!
Wildlands wins hands down for me. The replay ability factor is an enormous determination in which game I prefer and unfortunately after playing Breakpoint everyday for over a year and nothing else, completing all the missions, dlc’s, live events etc, getting all weapons and gear in the game ( with the exception of a few from the raid), free roaming all over Auroa and Golem Island repeatedly, I have reached the point where Breakpoint is just dead in the water.
I just really hope Ubisoft do the Karen Bowman mission DLC (Operation Motherland) the justice it truly deserves. Because the Bowman character in Wildlands was fleshed out, developed, and presented brilliantly well. Helped in large part by the exceptional work by the voice actor who played the character so amazingly well.
With Wildlands, it’s hard to conceive the realisation that the same team that worked in developing that game (so successful) also worked on Breakpoint (such a disappointment)
Anyway, sorry for the long drawn out comment. Just my thoughts on both games in the franchise.

One thing on the microtransactions, Wildlands allowed you to get the paid currency and crates for free by grinding daily challenges. This way I bought out the entirety of the MTX store and got all of the crate items without paying a dime. In BP it's pay or cry. Or both. So if anything, point for Wildlands here, because I've never seen any other game do that in reference to their microtransactions. Also the daily challenges for WL were far more varied and interesting than daily missions from BP.

One thing that I really dislike about playing ghost mode( besides dying) in wild lands is when your weapons are holstered, their is no quick option to bring out your secondary weapon! For example when my main weapon is holstered I should be able to double tap the triangle button (PS4) to quickly bring out my pistol but you can’t and it really annoys me! I noticed they fixed this in breakpoint tho! Also I wish that Island in Breakpoint was a dlc for wildlands! Would really be cool if the developers combined Both games and fixed all tweaks and mistakes from each game and actually listen to the community in what we would like to play!!! Wishful thinking I know lol
    Ps sorry for the vent!!!
Pss give us a white flash light attachment and let us all rails on the weapon and let me decide what side I want my attachments on!! Drives me nuts can only put one attachment on one side only! Is is that hard to give us the options to have a Flash light and laser and IR laser!

Ghost mode had so much potential; just don’t understand why they limit you so much.
-You can’t respawn, Have to sit and wait until the round is finish.
    - you are limited to certain guns in the beginning.
    - It should be 8 v 8 and the option to based it off of a kill total or timer.
I miss GRAW2; where you had team elimination matches. It was a mixture of COD/Ghost recon. It wasn’t just run/gun (Like COD)… but you couldn’t sit/camp forever either.
I really enjoy wildlands; they just need to add more stuff to the map. Besides from doing missions/side missions… there’s nothing to do.
    - You should be able to direct your squad to go almost anywhere on the map (Like older Ghost recon games)
-Edit the type of weapons your squad carry
    - Break your squad into groups (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie)
    - They should have more random enemy patrols and random attacks on you/your military base
    - Smoke Grenades (Why the hell isn’t that on the game!)
    - you should be able to build/upgrade your own base (Instead of spawning at a friendly rebel base).
    - The camouflage in wildlands is pathetic , it don’t really exist.
    - You should be able to change/edit the guns more.
    - Your team should start out as basic guys; and as you rank up they can become specialists. Same with your base; you should be able to hire security to guard your base/planes from enemy attacks

I am into realism when it comes to these kind of games.
One reason why I don't like BP that much even when they added Immersive mode is that you can change ANY settings of the game virtually. I mean why give the player control over enemies and the environment. Wildlands on the other hand do not allow you to do that (except for the difficulty level).
Players should not have control on what AI enemies CAN and WILL do in a firefight, same on what they CAN and WILL utilize to try to kill you, because that's just how it is in a firefight. Unidad will call platoons and different kind of chopper when you hit that level 4 ffs.
Wildlands Tier mode will make/force you to be more tactical because you can now be downed in 1 shot, and if you are playing lonewolf style, you're done. And then comes Ghostmode.
It is the REAL challenge since when you get killed, back to square one. And when you hit Tier mode, you better do things stealthily (most of the time) or you're getting that permadeath. And when you hit Tier 30 or below, goodluck in starting a firefight with UNIDAD.
God I hate that Operation Watchman (Ghost Mode / Extreme / No Huds).

It’s annoying trying to get up a slope and he strokes the rock (it looks weird) and you also have to remember the reason the island is lifeless is because it’s been taken over by sentinel and the wolves and most people are in hiding (except for the resistance and skell employees) for fear of being captured and tortured and some of the best fun I had was during amber sky because you could actually breach doors like a proper operator they need to design better team orders so that they can stack up on doorways and breach rooms because the current ones are rubbish they did it with both rainbow six Vegas games why not here? The teammate ai was better in those games too I don’t think Ubisoft actually consulted any military veterans (serving or retired) before making either game if they had they’d be a lot better and I agree about the sniper rifle bullet drop too it’s horrendous anyway that was a great video 👍😊

Also there are more guns to choose from in WL. WL has more gun components to change too. Another one is AI banter. Your AI teammates in WL are always chatting with each other. In BP your teammates don't say anything.

If only wildlands had the features, graphics and the customizable options from breakpoint. I assure you that it would be the most and amazing Tom Clancy mission game of all time. Period.

BREAKPOINT for me as a solo player and Wildlands in co op.. the feeling of having to take down a cartel with buddies is awesome.. Ghost war was great. Breakpoint as a solo 3rd person is what makes it work.

I want the tactical gear (Crye G4 etc) and camos from Breakpoint in Widlands and I'd be happy.

Personally I rather the voice actor for Nomad in breakpoint, but I’ve completed the entire game and now am playing wildlands!
