    Ian's looking great for his age (for someone born during WWII !!). And after all this time, he's still got a distinct West Country accent!

    From a Talking Sopranos point of view, this Ian interview was a David Chase & Terry Winter interview rolled into one! And he’s a Brit which I hadn’t realised till now. Brilliant guest and fascinating to listen to. Great work guys.

    What another amazing interview and you guys really pulled it out the bag with Ian Bradley. Loved his honest and candid view of the behind the scenes workings at the station and the amount of work and effort that’s put into making each episode. Both you and Ken are doing a fantastic job co-ordinating these interviews and can’t wait to see who you’ve got lined up next. Keep up the good work guys !!

    Excellent interview with Ian Bradley thank you.
    Being a ten pound Pom myself I identified with Ian’s personal story.
    His description of the making of ‘Z Cars’ also my favourite TV show at the time, was absolutely fascinating.
    “English TV and American film” quality aesthetic observation.
    Thanks guys and thanks Ian Bradley.

    Loved Ian’s description of king’s cross in Sydney. I arrived there in January 2005 and although a long time after Ian, I was also dazzled by the bars and the seedy stuff when I first got there. It was a far cry from my hometown of Hartlepool, UK.

      @@TalkingPrisoner I would love to know! I was on a working holiday 2004-2005 and haven't been back since then. I do want to make a return visit and see how things have changed especially Melbourne. I took lots of camcorder footage during my trip although I had to be careful what I filmed in King's cross! I just remember arriving at kings cross at about 1pm in the afternoon wheeling my luggage through on my way to the backpacker hostel and a hooker offering her "services" naturally I politely declined but Ian's story took me right back to then. We also had an illegal gambling den over the road from our hostel.

    This was a fantastic insight into the concept, writing, production and casting of the show. It’s this kind of thing that the fans really love to hear, all the behind the scenes information including how it was made. Just brilliant.

      Agreed. She brought a lot to the character of Spider Simpson in the last year of the programme and I was so sad to hear that she'd died so young. I particularly loved the scenes between her and Merle - "get your hands off me, Tubbo" :-)

    Brilliant interview... Nice to put a face to the prominent entry credits of prisoner. The bea smith moment coming out of van i feel like lou kelly was the police officer ? It was a split secind or two so maybe im wrong but i know many actors were recast 2 or even 3 times in its history 😮

It’s so good to see these chats with a cross section of writers, actors, crew, producers, directors etc. Personally I’d love to see Sandy gore, Jude Kuring, Carole skinner, Fiona Spence, maybe a few of the extras like Kaye Chadwick (Bev Cavelli) or Lorna

    Finally getting around to comment on this interview. Absolutely fantastic. Hey, if you want to find out something go directly to the source, and who is a better source for Prisoner than Ian Bradley. I first came to prisoner in 1982. I grew up outside of New York City in NewJersey. It was showing on Saturday evenings. Although at the time I was just recently divorced ,a young guy at 27, so I was more interested in seeing women at bars, not behind bars. LOL. It wasn't until TH-cam 35+ years later that I finally got to see the entire series and realized what I missed out on. I always knew there was a change in the series when it came to America. for me what I noticed most was that most of the Pinups we're gone and suddenly you had Laurel and Hardy James Dean Marlon Brando, etc posters. I knew that had to be because of coming to America. all of those Pinups would not go over well in America at that time in the 80s. It would never make it primetime. So in addition to the swearing I think the nudity was also a problem. I also liked the comment about the budget: now we know why the walls wobbled. 😊

    • @TalkingPrisoner
      @TalkingPrisoner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      THanks for sharing your story with us, Love hearing about peoples memories of Prisoner, Can I ask did they ever cut things out when it was airing in the USA back in the 80s ?

    • @eugenedegeorge5084

      @@TalkingPrisoner Hey Ken and Matt. Thanks for the reply. Quite frankly, it was so many years ago and, as I said, I was a younger guy then .I just remember watching it sporadically. I am absolutely sure that any nudity such as episode 9 ,or some of the shower shots, or close-ups of the pinups, may not have been shown. I can't be sure though. Curse words ,if they were Australian, might have gotten through since most Americans wouldn't know what they were saying. In fact, part of the fun of watching Prisoner on TH-cam and talking to other Americans was our little joke about learning all the Australian slang words. I once said to my daughter :I think someone's playing funny buggers with us. She looked at me curiously and then said :is that one of those Australian things again. 😂
