@@KaijuDaddyJapanin your opinion, should i still buy this phoenix or buy the Marvel legends phoenix? Im disappointed of the lack of fire effects. Btw, i am collecting the Mafex Xmen.
I feel fortunate to be able to get this and the ML coming out. It'll be nice to have this with the Phoenix bird effect and the other as a more casual/relaxed Jean. Who know, maybe Mafex will redo this as Dark Phoenix with accessories down the road.
I understand the frustration with the lack of accessories but honestly, it comes with pretty much the same amount as Wolverine which people love. The issue really is the accessories they gave us. Hopefully, as you said, we get more effects accessories with Dark Phoenix
Better or worse? My lighting wasn’t the best for it. I’ve done video and photos in the Project 1/6 shop, which as of now I think were the only ones out there except for the ones from the Medicom show last week, and the colors were brighter there due to their lights.
Black cat can be done by combining new ml captain marvel head with either Mafex catwoman or Revoltech catwoman and add some fur, Mafex black cat might not come into fruition anytime soon
Yeah the Phoenix effect is awesome. I just need a Mafex Phoenix for my Mafex X-Men. I don’t like to mix lines if there is a figure available in the Mafex line.
Nice review my friend, i am a little disappointed that there isn't any effects. Ill stick with the marvel legends version. If I see her on sale in the future ill pick her up.
I think that’s the exact sentiment most people have. I feel this figure will end up discounted either in December or towards the beginning of next year which is crazy.
May 5th Scopes a better face while Hasbro gives you a more complete edition I got my May fix copy today and while I am happy I was a bit disappointed to realize that the base doesn't come with this edition.
Do you think it would be better if the figure came with face plates instead of headsculpt? I mean that way you could interchange the faces between her hairstyles
I was actually hoping the hair was detachable from the heads since all 3 hair sculpts are different but they didn’t do that. Would have been nice to have that option to mix hair and faces.
Hasbro is better for me. Also, for this case Mafex should have packed atleast 2 more heads to justify the price. One flowing hair with screaming portrait, and other full blown hair for the phoenix effect.
Mafex Phoenix looks incredible!!! Just paid for my shipping with HLJ cant wait to get her in hand. Thanks again for the early review. Can always depend on Kaiju Daddy to drop that new MAFEX hotness😆
I want the body but gotta wait for her to go on deep sale 😅 will be combining them with ML, as that is the only way I can have my perfect x-men characters without paying someone for a custom.
@@lovelylvg5 ML is on the new female buck which gives wayyy more articulation and unlike this expensive import, it actually comes with a phoenix accessory and fire base, which mafex didnt come with any effects. And its way cheaper aswell. Forgot to mention ML has a more vibrant green and gold and hasbro has been up’ing their paint game so it’ll definitely be better
@@lovelylvg5The articulation is gonna be fine for what it is, she’s not a martial artist. For the paint/sculpt the Mafex wins without any doubt…the gold on the ML is terrible and the green is not the correct shade. Although the ML has cool flame effects…the right combo would be ML accessories and Mafex figure
I'd honestly prefer to get the new Hasbro one instead. I wouldn't be surprised if the fire effects and better hair sculpts come with the very likely Mafex Dark Phoenix figure, so I'll wait for that instead.
@@Tazio25But these aren't great either. Not enough serious expressions and the hair isn't expressive enough either. The Mafex female bodies need updating too. This is a super lazy release. Especially for the price. A Dark Phoenix being announced with all the goodies will make this release an even bigger slap in the face. I ain't biting. 124 unique Mafex figs in my collection and this is the most lazy release yet.
Gotta agree with your comments. It’s their worst X-Men release by far. I gave it an 8. Lost points for head articulation (I’m ok with the faces and hair sculpts but want better ability to articulate the heads), bare bones accessories, and the legs aren’t as stable as I’d like. I wouldn’t say the figure itself is going to be inferior to the ML but their Phoenix base goes a long way for collectors.
@Tazio25 They'll never outdo import figs but they've definitely stepped up their game recently. The new Wolverines (comic & movie versions) look incredible for a £/$25 figure.
Great review and nice looking figure but for what it costs, what it is and comes with, I'm glad I canceled my pre-order and pre-ordered the new Marvel Legends phoenix that's coming.
That’s fair enough. Sometimes we get a ton of accessories with figures and sometimes we get less. It’s just the balance of things companies sometimes use for business reasons. If you’re not getting those other figures, I can see this feeling way overpriced for what you get. Completely on point there. I don’t want to mix ML in with my Mafex figures if there’s a Mafex figure available so I’m kind of stuck getting the Mafex for Phoenix
@@KaijuDaddyJapan I can definitely relate to your sentiment on MAFEX. For a bit I thought I was gonna be all in on X-Men MAFEX at least but for my own tastes I would prefer if they improved on the sculpts for the women figures. I don't need gratuitous proportions but some more musculature and curves to better match the source material would be nice. Especially in the legs.
Great review. Mine is paid for and waiting to be shipped at Hobby Link Japan, but I’m just not feeling this one. It’s not any one thing in particular. There’s just not any “Wow!” Factor here for me.
@@KaijuDaddyJapan ah ok. I was hoping to see yours because some of those reviews don’t really show the ab crunch too well so I was just curious on that
Looking good. The colors on this phoenix are more accurate to the comic book. I wish they would fix the hair issue with a softer more pliable plastic. There are plastics out there that would bend. I’m gonna have to hold off for now. Great look at the figure. Thanks Rob
@@KaijuDaddyJapan you ever get a street fighter figure from Jada, Rob? If you do have one. You know how they have those gi overlays. That would be an excellent plastic type for the hair. I don’t know why they haven’t tried it. Maybe they have but it doesn’t work out. 🤷🏽♂️
Looks like a good addition to the comic line. Hopefully, some Marvel Legends collectors decide to sell their upcoming Phoenix flame accessories lol. Great vid as always🫡
Absolute trash considering the quality and effort put into figs like carnage, gambit, and psylocke. We're paying more for plastic that's NOT the figure... Oh well. Good review dude
The figure is $70 retail now with the conversion. Getting up there. Compared with the other X-Men figures, it’s probably their worst release. Not going to lie. I have it an 8 which is the lowest I’ve given any of the figures in the line. That’s mostly due to the head articulation, the lack of accessories, and the legs being less firm.
This one is definitely going on sale...no effects is a bad play.
