This word "on the street" is the backstory mentioned in several videos and often repeated as fact, but investigation shows that the people helping are unrelated. Still a great team result though.

They are legit, it is them singing but they do work with their grandsons to help write the more modern slang. They do live shows (which their grandsons DJ) and you can watch those on TH-cam if you want. Their grandsons actually have stepped up to the mic themselves recently, doing a rap themselves. I think there is probably multigenerational help going both ways. I always love reactions to Pete & Bas, you'll probably get requests to do their entire tracklist! Keep it up boys!

Bas is a PROFESSIONAL musician and teacher by trade. He also plays a wide variety of instruments including the piano, sax, and trumpet. This is easy for him. Their writing is a COLLABORATIVE effort. They are heavily involved in the writing and production.

Grandkids help with the modern slang, but Bas plays piano and brass instruments. They got timing, rhythm and breath control down. They’re Cockney old geezers so rhyming slang is normal for them. Musical background helps a lot with rhythm and timing.
Also they are both HUGE Sean Paul fans.

The best part is they actual lived this kinda life forreal. Pete in his youth was a shooter for the Ritchardson gang in London and Bas was a hustler and a bare knuckle boxer. These boys were active! Love the reaction guys. Gotta check out bish bash bosh. You will not regret it.

I’m from the uk. They’re real !!! Real writers, gangsters and rappers. They get advice from their grandsons but they’re up to date themselves with the lingo!!! They not started this a few years back!!! They play live too! Pete the tall one is not long out of prison. Both have criminal pasts and come from those families. They are amazing and inspiring. And hopefully reformed! 😅

The duo consists of two rap artists aged in their 70s. They released their first single in 2017 with "Shut Ya Mouth". They recorded the song after Pete discovered his enjoyment for hip hop when his granddaughter was playing rap music on his car radio. He told Bas about it, and they decided that it would be good fun to issue it on TH-cam.

Pete & Bas are legit. They write and perform their own raps. They've said sometimes their grandkids help them with writing (or maybe slang?). Their grandkids are who introduced them to rap originally. They're not really gansters, but Bas' dad apparently owned a bare knuckle boxing ring.

It is them!! And they do write all there own stuff. They do get help from there grandchildren on current slang. They started this is in 2017 and we have Pete's granddaughter to thank for this. Every time she got into Pete's car she changed all the channels on the radio too Hip Hop, he got tired of changing them back so he started listening and found he really enjoyed it. So he talked his friend Bas into going into this adventure with him. Rest is History. If you really want to confirm there actually doing this check out one of there live performances. All there songs are bangers but my favorite is Plugged in with Fumes, Sindu Sesh, Quick 1,2, Gangster Sh**, and Longthorn Shotgun. Welcome to the rabbit hole gentlemen lol

These tracks are a great team effort between these two performers and their writers. What started out as a (successful) attempt to create viral content has become something they clearly love. Over the past 6 or 7 years these men have learned to rap well, and the production standards have been excellent from the start. Very entertaining - multilayered lyrics and the guys portray the gangster characters so well at the same time as delivering top quality.
They've only got about a dozen other, outstanding tracks. A couple of 'must sees' 1) Plugged in with Fumez the Engineer 2) Pete N Bas Sindhu Sesh 3) Quick 1-2 4) Mr. Worldwide Nice react, fellas.
