I have an older GS, but wanted a form of transport that was easier to just hop on, do a bit shopping, maybe a commute without too much faffing around. I tried the 750 and the 350 back to back and after much riding decided on the ADV 350 for a number of reasons. Firstly it is what it is a powerful automatic scooter with double the storage of the 750 better fuel economy and will happily cruise on a motorway at above legal speed, plus handles really well and weighs nearly 45 kg less than a 750. My view was the 350 does 90% of what the 750 does but the 750 only does 60% of the 350 is really good at. The 350 is also nearly half the price of the 750. I found it really difficult to place the 750, it has its feet in both camps. It’s not an amazing scooter and it’s not an amazing motorbike but it is a good all rounder if you only have the option of one bike, that said even if I never had a GS to use, I will probably still prefer the ADV 350 as I use it pretty much for everything.
I hear ya i have a GS and an Africa Twin DCT which i love but i use my Piaggio Medley S 125cc every day why because its great fun with loads of storage
I bought a cheap forza 300 when I broke my hand racing enduros. I ride everyday and thought I would sell it after a couple of months when pins removed but I love it. Ive got a full cover by tucano urbano along with bar mitts.Uprated rear shocks (yss) makes a huge difference. Ive thought about upgrading to a 750 but it will miss the simple joy, the playfulness the cheap and cheeriness Im lucky enough to have a daytona 675r, an r nine t and a ccm supermoto. my ten year old forza is probably my favourite (though dont tell the others) and certainly used more than the others combined.
I've got a 1250GS and ADV350 scooter. Not ridden the X-ADV but agree on the comments on the 350. Definitely need to try both before deciding. 350 is so good and great value compared to the 750.
You asked... What is it about the XADV that attracts people to swap their motorcyle for an XADV? In a nutshell, it's a great allrounder. More detail... 1. Bullet proof NC750 Engine. 2. The long distance comfort of a scooter, with a feel that's half way between a scooter and a motorcycle. 3. Automatic gearbox, just twist and go. 4. More power, than most scooters, whilst deliverying excellent fuel economy. 5. A lot of under seat storage, if adding a decent sized top box, there's no need for panniers, therefore filtering is easier. 6. Good wind protection, options are available to increase this. 7. Lower centre of gravity, therefore easier to manoeuvre. 8. I can't think of a better all rounder, it can be used in almost any scenario (within reason)... Ideal for long distance touring, especially with no gears or clutch to worry about. Just concentrate on road safety and the scenery, let the bike do the gears for you. It's annoying that there is no Cruise Control, or even an optional extra of cruise control.
Yeah, Honda really missed a trick there. They seem to hide features of the 'big' bikes behind the 'paywall' of upgrading. Some people will NEVER want an 1100 or 1800cc bike, but they do want cruise control. KTM and Aprilia get this. Why not Honda?
@@BikersMirror-pz8fy True. that's why I went from the Vulcan S, Versys 650 to a scooter and believe it, it's a XMAX 300. Plenty of speed for me, super flickable, and a dream in traffic jam!!! and all of you've mentioned 🙂
Most adventure riders buy too much bike then load it up with too much gear. Where I live in the north of Spain, I would much rather bip around the mountains on one of those Hondas than a GS. Even the 350 is much more fun. I have lost count of the number of times I have seen GS riders struggle with very basic maneuvers such as ‘stopping and putting a foot down’ or ‘parking’. Yeah, Tmaxes are cool. I still want to ride the newest version. I took the first model to a trackday at Cadwell Park, nearly 20 years ago, before TH-cam.
Another great video/bike review although I was surprised to see you in the uk, unexpected! If I had the money I’d definitely have one of these for hooning around on and I’d likely ride it in the same way you do. And be perfectly happy with the mid 60’s mpg! I also agree that it looks pretty cool, to me at least. Alas I’ll have to stick with the one cheap bike for now but one day, who knows! Great work 👍🏻
I must say the exhaust note on this is *very* impressive. I have an Africa Twin 1100 with twice the bhp and torque, give or take, and it's got an aftermarket can but even at full throttle it doesn't sound as rorty as this. It does look like it's a lot of fun to ride.
Great review and assessment. I tested one about a year ago, and it was fully kitted out with all the accessories. I really enjoyed it for the most part, but as you stated, the weight and the ergonomics at low speed were a deal breaker. Not to mention, apparently, it's one of the most sought-after bikes here in London to steal, which was a deal breaker. I went with the 2nd gen xsr900 in the end. Who knows, in the future, I might revisit it. Thanks for putting this together.
Yeah, absolutely my pleasure. I didn't talk abou the thefts... But a lot of rumours, and my own anecdotal experience, suggests it's one of the most nicked bikes ever... And the thieves know how to mess with the ECU and keys etc...
I am seriously considering to swap my 2023 MT09 SP for one of these. I have booked a test ride for an X-ADV 750 tomorrow! I think it’s the perfect bike for me since I am on my second Honda PCX (I love the PCX) and I now ride a KTM EXC 250 TPI off-road and this bike marries the two so well. Can we call this a Honda PCX on steroids? No really. Can we say it destroys the dirt? No really. Does it give you the opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds? Absolutely. This is why I am considering to give up my MT09 for the X-ADV 750.
Totally agree with the comments regarding configuration, the bikes should stay where you leave them and just warn you on the dash. But the nanny state we live in usually rules against it sadly
1:49 alright, it looks like you didn't read the operator's manual before starting out. The N/D rocker on the left switch pod switches between Neutral and Drive. Pressing D again cycles you through the Sport modes, which hang onto the gear a little longer - many feel D is a bit luggy and chuggy. The A/M button in grey to the left of that rocker is the Auto/Manual switch. If you're in D or S and you press A/M it'll no longer read D or S-whatever, it'll just show you what gear you're in. Over on the left switch pod there are a thumb lever and a trigger lever in grey. *These* are your gear up and gear down switches. In Manual mode, this is how you switch gear. In any of the auto modes, you can use it to correct an incorrect gear selection, so if it's in 6th & you're chugging up a hill & losing momentum you can shift down, or if you're trying to overtake a truck and you're finding the throttle response too slow, again, shift down. It'll settle back into a higher gear after a few seconds. Likewise if you're storming down a hill & want some engine braking - normally the bike position sensors plus a bit of back brake will trigger the bike's computer to downshift, but you can do it manually even while in auto modes. Also: The Left switch pod's enter and back buttons are the "wrong" way round because Japanese people have books that start on the right side cover & go forward turning pages from left to right, the opposite of how we read books, therefore left feels like forwards to Japanese people, and right feels like backwards.
I totally agree with your views on the power. The way these and the NC750/700's ride massively exceeds the expectations you have based on the power and torque numbers on paper. Brilliant engines but after owning one i too am not a fan of the DCT, i would choose the 2nd gen NC750X (slightly higher rev limiter) with a manual gearbox over any of the models with this engine and DCT.
I had the 2021 model. Why I changed it I'll never know...Having said that the 2025 model with integrated (into the headlights)front indicators and cruise control + a new colour TFT !! is looking very good indeed. And in answer to your question. It is a Motor Bike.😊

I own the Honda Forza 750 and apart from the cruise control not being available, I am very satisfied. On all counts and certainly of the fuel consumption.
Re: Electronic settings - I'm *mostly* with you. I'd like to be able to set what I want to have as the default startup, and if I make changes, have those changes stick if not having it shut down for less than say an hour. After an hour, return to *my* default setup. My '16 BMW R12R does half that... It maintains which rider/suspension mode you've set, but always turns on traction control and ABS, and you can't turn it off until you've rolled far enough for the "POST" (power on self test). I've had trouble getting out of loose pea-gravel and sand because I couldn't disengage the system, and traction control kicked in hard enough to stall the bike before I could get it rolling.

Nice review, it’s one I’ve always fancied having a go on but never got round to. Think you’re right a hybrid basically a NC 750 with scooter body. It does have a claim to fame in the off road world, back in 2019 Italian Renato Zocchi took it and won the 7000km Gibraltar rally beating KTM 790’s, Husquqrvena 701’s, KTM 690E’s and BMW 800GS’s. A few upgrades to the suspension and exhaust but still a bit of an achievement.
It look like something a prop department would make for a really shitty dystopian movie set in 2035 or something a newly retired single old boy might buy that’s just started riding at 65😂 TMax still rules the superscoots for me
That's harsh, but fair. I do have a soft spot for big scoots, but they have to be track prepped JDM Tmax style with fast furious sticker jobs and racing numbers 😂
@@btgmoto 😆 theres something really cool about a big scoot full leg covers on, loud exhaust, flat out filtering round the Périphérique. Not sure they work on the A52 to Grantham😂
Let's be honest here, it's not really a scooter, it's a motorbike with a scooter bodywork, main reason is, it's chain drive...honda essentially cheating 😅😅

Interesting how time has changed perspective. When the NC700X/S with the Integra scooter version, the general consensus was the NC700 was just a glorified scooter.
Reminds me of when they launched these here in Thailand. A group of us used to do some jungle single track and quite technical off-road routes, and one day, Honda decided to do a dealer launch event on our route with a bunch of these - it was total carnage the scooters falling all over the place, getting stuck and having to get help to free them up. An ADV it is not ! 😅
I hope your mate, whom you borrowed the bike off, doesn't get a speeding ticket, because you went past that speeding camera heading out of Barley at 33mph 🧐😂
Why waste our time on a review where you have not spent the slightest time learning how to operate the scooter? Dislike, exit and "Don't recommend channel".
Well, here's my theory - I'm far from a beginner biker, and if it isn't intuitive and obvious to me, it's gonna be the same or worse for anybody else jumping on to the same bike. Systems should be easy and obvious. Within 5 minutes, I had it figured out, and that was documented in the video - the learning process, I mean. I'm sorry that this annoyed you so much that you would recommend TH-cam's algorithm to shut down my channel, and that level of anger is noted.

It's not a cheap toy. For this money Honda COULD have installed a Cruise Control ! - which they DID NOT !
True!!! and it's a shame.
Kymco did do it though on their AK Premium model. And this might be my next scooter. 🙂
Love Honda scooters , i own one, but this is just a little Weird .But allsorts
Thanks for an honest Video !
My pleasure!
I'm thinking that's an Aliexpress exhaust and something more mellifluous would make the riding quicker and more fun. Funny how that works.
Totally standard bike, the mic is placed near the rear light. Thanks for the sub!
@@btgmoto dang - I was wrong. First time! I enjoy your vids - thanks.
It comes with self canceling indicators😂
Jeezo mate… where is your mic- on the exhaust?😂
Practically inside it! 😂🫡
Sounds like a WW1 Sopwith Camel!
That's incredible! 😂👏
I wonder if it were the same bike but manufactured by KTM or a BMW your final conclusion would be different.
Do you know how many Hondas I've bought, and how many are still in my garage? Honda fan here ✋
Americans will never know what's the definition of motorcycle driving comfort of a maxi scooter since they don't have one
This American has a Burgman 400 and loves the comfort and weather protection.
As a French man living in the UK I would never understand why UK bikers always disrespect scooters as in 250cc and up
Because most of the motorbike is stolen by scooter riders.so you never know which one is a real rider and which ones are dirty worms
Sounds like this thing has broken exhaust.
It look like something a prop department would make for a really shitty dystopian movie set in 2035 or something a newly retired single old boy might buy that’s just started riding at 65😂
TMax still rules the superscoots for me
That's harsh, but fair.
Honda still has NM4 dreams - this is the gateway drug.
Let's be honest here, it's not really a scooter, it's a motorbike with a scooter bodywork, main reason is, it's chain drive...honda essentially cheating 😅😅
That's not cheating! That's innovation! (/removes Honda Fan Boy #1 Tshirt)
@@btgmoto fanboy, that's nothing to get on top of your orange box for, looking at the Honda bike range at the moment, makes you fall asleep 💤💤 boring as for innovation, bending the rules to suit them, one more thing, they aren't doing very well in MotoGP are they and on top of that, repsol has walked away....😅😅
@@grenphelps7455 One day you'll actually ride a Honda, but watching KTM adverts is cheaper.
@@anxiousappliance ridden plenty of Honda's, but never wanted one it's all a bit meh, as for KTM, been there twice, that was enough, got a 2023 Yamaha mt-10 at the moment and it's been flawless 👌
Interesting how time has changed perspective. When the NC700X/S with the Integra scooter version, the general consensus was the NC700 was just a glorified scooter.
No imu, no cornering lights, no android, why honda?
Just an nc750 with a scooter body work and ,,ADV" price tag.
And 60,000 units sold in Europe. It's pretty practical, especially when you chuck luggage on. Not my cup of tea, but I get the appeal.
Hah! That sounds fantastic. Would love to have seen it!
Did the dealer fit off-road tyres?
@@michaelreid5307 I'm gonna say... Nope... But I can't wait for the answer!
I hope your mate, whom you borrowed the bike off, doesn't get a speeding ticket, because you went past that speeding camera heading out of Barley at 33mph 🧐😂
I'm sure he'll let me know! I didn't see a flash ;)
Speedo over reads by 10% so you'll be fine!
I like it 😂😂😂 because it's ugly and big and irritated a lot of people 😂😂😂
It's design for Asian markets . . .
Sounds like a machine gun engine ??
this video is not for me but is good who like it,but than again is not for me (just copying guy who made this video)
Unfortunately it looks ugly.
LAME!!!!
