Kind of cheap and tacky for somewhere proud of its authenticity, but helps explain the decent price.

Edwin Mintey well for one thing their history talks proudly of when they used “New York City water” which I’m sure they don’t use anymore brewing in Los Angeles. And it is definitely likely the recipe is from McSorleys but there is still plenty of changes it would go through to be brewed macro. Also I’ve met multiple brewers even at craft breweries that get contracted to help get a place started and in these cases they bring in their own recipes, in one case a man had been apart of at least 12 breweries and mentioned how all these places still use his recipes and all the beers have different names, kind of off topic but just showing similarities in the beer world. This bar was my first stop off the train when I got into New York after college, I was on my way further upstate. But my father had insisted I do a bit of a route through some of his favorite spots in NYC, he grew up in Staten Island. I walked into McSorley's after a long train from florida. It took me no time to find it, it was as if my feet were moving on their own. I sat down at the bar and put my bag down, and the bartender was there standing in front of me, a smile from his last interaction still lingering.. "I'll have a guiness, my father insisted" The barkeep laughed, "a good ol boy eh!? ", I was completely disarmed. It was like irish ancestral roots were emanating from my body and filling with comfort, that space has old energy. I can remember every moment of that day, magical tavern.

First time I went I was underage, sat outside like a poor little puppy dog while my friends went in for a beer. Years later after coming back from Iraq I finally got to quench my thirst. Stepped up to the bar and looked around for what beer they had. I had not idea, so I said to the bartender can you give two such and such name brand beers. The girl next to me just started laughing her arse off. I looked at her like she was crazy, of course I was the crazy one. And she told me how it works, that you order a light or dark and one means two. LOL! Great freakin' time!

It's what a pub should be. Laid back and simple. Good beer and good people. The olde Irish way.
My favorite kind of Bar 🍻❤
Love this bar, hopefully I’ll be able to go again one day
Really Excellent.
Enjoy the Life AMERICA.
Wow love the videos keep it up guys
Good to see an American bar that actually serves beer with head
@laser325 Well this ain't the Czech Republic where you can order your beer as entirely head.
They don't sell head, you need to find a hooker for that.
Some serious history here!
I been to McSorleys many times even their 150th anniversary.
Def on my bucket list 👌
smart model, serve two beers at a time but only half of it is actual liquid and half is head. so it looks like you're getting more for your money
It looks more like 2/3rds to me.
i mean do you really think people in 1800's would be complaining of how much foam they got on their mugs? dude it's a tradition you should respect that. they won't change it for people like you. male karen.
@@paolosalgo6987calm down mate, who hurt you?

First time I went I was underage, sat outside like a poor little puppy dog while my friends went in for a beer. Years later after coming back from Iraq I finally got to quench my thirst. Stepped up to the bar and looked around for what beer they had. I had not idea, so I said to the bartender can you give two such and such name brand beers. The girl next to me just started laughing her arse off. I looked at her like she was crazy, of course I was the crazy one. And she told me how it works, that you order a light or dark and one means two. LOL! Great freakin' time!
I have underwear older than " super old " in the States 😂😂
Forgot to mention woman weren't allowed in the bar till like 1970. And they still refused to build them a bathroom.
My god, civilisation HAS arrived in America :)
Good
Bucket list for sure
Who else is drinking beer while watching this? Cheers!
Chill bar. I had a few there about 2 years ago
This has definitely raised the bar for bars all around the world
Lol
Awesome !!! 🤝🤝🤝
An Irish bar with no Guinness I’m pissed
Guinness is pish
@@22grena Foreign extra stout is pretty good.
For me a reason to go there! The most boring thing about Irish bars and pubs abroad is they all have Guiness or Kilkenny.
And yet with light ale it's tough to get pissed 😂
Went to McSorleys once, had a great time. I'd bring a hydrometer next time though, the beers seem weak as pish.
They've got one in Honolulu, they're got one in New York too.
Been there once when I graduated school. Nothing special just a novelty. I’ve got Irish, Scottish, welsh, and German ancestry the oldest dating back to 1702. I’ll take German beers 🍺
When traveling I try to go to every Irish pub.
Educational fun review
Incredible
They’re just casually naming things that famous historical people used like nothing 😂 i mean it did open in 1854

Blink if you're kidnapped.
super bar i love this bar
My great grandfather wrote the book "McSorley's wonderful saloon. He also wrote for the new yorker
Joseph Mitchell. Great writer. His short stories about old New York are terrific.
@LOGOS422 Yes! I'm glad to see someone who appreciates his writings!
