- 6 part series about the metropolitan police that was made in 1995. This edition covers the Commissioner Paul Condon as he talks to various staff in the organisation and describes the challenges they face policing the capital.
That takes me back a few years.......glad I’m well out of it all now!

The superintendent that was visited,, whose name I forget, went on to head the Anti Terrorism Branch for a long time.
He was my commissioner bloody good copper.
Definitely one of the best if not the best Commissioner of The Met,
This commissioner along with Robert mark were a rare breed ...that even villians respected

Simpler times. When you could still have sensible, civilised conversations about race and crime, race and the police etc.
when the Job was populated by officers who looked the part acted the part and would always run to the trouble unlike so many in todays Job, who have degrees in interpitive dance and suffer trauma when they have to do shift work
I don’t think that is a fair characterisation of the current serving officers of the MPS.
When the job was filled with racists, homophobes and corrupt criminals
Supt staff officer was Matt Baggot. Ended up as Chief of Leicestershire and PSNI!!!
Senior officers with brow gloves. Saluting. No tattoos. Proper standards.
Nothing has changed. Criminals carrying knives/firearms is rife & most police officers are still unarmed. Courts are still handing down pathetic sentences.
Possession of an illegal firearm should carry a minimum of 10 years in gaol. Carrying one outside your home, should be 15 years
@@mikegrace very few of them are even allowed to carry a gun. That needs a higher standard of maturity, self-control and training.
