The pause is because the Volca FM only accepts full patch dumps, not individual parameter changes. This is only the case with the Volca FM and a few others that have similar hardware limitations.
@@Coffeeshopped I see I am thinking of getting the tg77 editor , afaik it doesn' have that problem when it receives syse from from Loomer Architect . I assume the coffeshop app wil be glitchfree too
@@Coffeeshopped Ah yeah , one more thing I noticed on the tg 77 editor ( demo version ) WHen selecting the algoritm from the dropdown , the operator stacks have switched places once selected . This is really distracting
You just need a way to connect the two of them! This page gives some suggestions of what to use: coffeeshopped.com/patch-base-help/recommended-midi-interfaces
Hey, there @coffieshopped! I bought the Volca FM-editor and I got a request/question. Would it be possible the let Patch Base listen to MIDI CC# to tweak the app-UI in an update, perhaps? Thinking BCR2000 would be a joy to controll the interface with. Best regards!
Does the editor send over all parameters as a sysex dump while editing or does it send only the individual parameter sysex being edited continuously? I was under the impression that the Volca FM only responded to sysex dumps and not real-time editing.
+matrixsynth Good question :) Yes, it sends the entire dump for editing (hence the cut-outs in notes you'll hear in the video). Because of the Volca FM's MIDI implementation, this is the only way to do it. That's why this app is really aimed at sound design and patch storage and organization, not performance. I use the sequencer in the video for ease of hearing the sounds as they change. I'm crossing my fingers that at some point there might be a firmware update that allows for individual parameter editing via sysex. If Korg does that, I'll add the support!
+Coffeeshopped Thank you! I thought that might be what I was hearing when you made edits. How do you manage when to send the dump? Is it automatic after your release touch or is it every x seconds?
+matrixsynth There's a bit of a timer going on. Kind of like "every X seconds" but it takes into account how quickly you're making changes. I tweaked it to hopefully be a sweet spot of fast updates but not too many cutouts or overloading the synth with midi data!
Hi, your Video was very helpful. Thank You!!! I just got one question: Is there a way to connect your iPad with the FM without the Midi Adapter? Maybe over the Audio Interface (I have the Steinberg UR242)?
It's possible to connect via WiFi or Bluetooth, if your Volca FM is connected to a computer via MIDI. I outline that here: coffeeshopped.com/2015/05/using-wireless-midi-to-connect-your-ipad-or-iphone-to-your-computer-and-hardware-synths
Why is there a brief pause after every edit made ?
Is this with all the coffeeshopped editors or just the volca fm ?
The pause is because the Volca FM only accepts full patch dumps, not individual parameter changes. This is only the case with the Volca FM and a few others that have similar hardware limitations.

That's on the list for someday!
Glad to heard it! had a feeling it was not far fetched. I wish I could help in this matter but my programming knowledge is poor.
@@Coffeeshopped Any inspiration for it nowadays? Would be sooo great!

+Coffeeshopped Thanks! I put a post up on MATRIXSYNTH for my readers: www.matrixsynth.com/2016/04/korg-volca-fm-edited-by-patch-base-for.html
+matrixsynth Thanks, I appreciate it!
Are there any plans to release this for use on a standard computer and not an ios app? Would really love to use it in ableton w the volca fm
No plans yet, although it's something I've considered!
Check out KORG volca fm M4L Editor from www.dystopiandisco.com . It's a Max for Live patch that does a similar thing from within Ableton.
We need it guys !! Would definatly buy it!
Seems like finally you got an answers for your prayers
So to sent information to volca fm you connected via midi cable? Or sync in like Volca sample?
Via MIDI cable. The app requires a iPad-compatible MIDI interface.
+Coffeeshopped i will give it a try with my irig midi 2

hi, I purchased this app in the summer for volca fm,worked great, now since update not working?
Should still work! Please send me an email here and let me know the details, and we'll get it fixed: coffeeshopped.com/contact
Doesn’t work for me using a ZoomU-24, standard midi connection...
is there an editor for the TX81z?
Coffeeshopped thanks! Awesome work.
Thank you, awesome work! question, can I run it on an iPad 2?
As long as it's running iOS 8 or later, yes.
It sux that korg didn't allow for real-time patch editing over MiDI.
This app is not like this any more
