I wonder what Pops' reaction to Last Shadow Puppets album Everything You've Come to Expect will be, cinematic kind of like the new style? Actually I'm curious about the rest of the Arctic Monkeys catalog. Good stuff.
Same here. I heard Tranquility all the way through and I didn’t care for it. It finally clicked for me a few months ago and it’s my 2nd favorite in the discography. That adjustment was perfect for this album. It gets better after each listen too.
Big fan of TBHC, a true masterpiece. So, the first time i listened to The Car i did not know what to think of it but now, it's slowly grow on me. But i wont say it's better. The last LPs are so unique.
Big Ideas is such a brilliant song. The subject matter, the tinge of sadness in Alex's voice, and the David Bowie-esque influence sonically and in the music arrangement.
Are you thinking of making a video about it? I know its really new and you probably have some projects to release in the future, but would be cool to see a follow up to your TB video.
Tranquility Base is one of the biggest growers of all time. What sounded like uninteresting elevator music to me at first, over time literally rewires the neuron connections in your brain until you get familiar with the out-of-the-norm song structures, and it becomes so so good. Literally took almost 2 years for the whole album to hit, but the pandemic truly transformed the context of the entire project for me. There is a reason people get it tattood, it absolutely resonates very hard once it sticks.
Totally agree, cringed when i first heard tbhc but the more i listened the more i adapted, and thank god i kept listening. All albums are fantastic for all different moods.
First time I heard base hotel couldn’t even get half way into the album before stopping it out of disgust. I’ve forced myself to listen to it in it’s entirety but man it’s still a tough listen I don’t think I’ll ever get into it.
So crazy, went into first moments of disappointment and shock listening to Tranquility and then it moved more and more into one of the best albums ever spot. Tranquility set the pathway for the Car, mirrorball excited me right away and again, all other songs keep creeping in my heart and brain. When i feel like listening to amazing music now, i pick up ‚Car‘… and it even keeps growing. Just to make a point here, i listen and collect music for centuries, i probably listened to zillion albums, Tranquillity and Car made Top 15 and still moving up. Time really shows the quality of songs, AM was amazing but here we got to the next level… leaving me just plain ‚happy‘
I've been listening Arctic Monkeys since 2006, and I'm so happy that they keep evolving and finding new sounds. They continue to mature and experiment and push their creativity. Alex's recent obsession with cinema and filmmaking is so interesting too. Totally get it's not for everyone, especially for those that jumped on the bandwagon for AM. But this album is absolutely masterful and cinematic. Big love to the boys from Sheffield!
Hahaha same here I remember I was wondering what if it released on the mark as soon as it hit the next day so I stayed up and it did so yh listened to it as soon as it comes out
Big Ideas is definitely the diamond on the album. Alex's voice, the instrumentals, the lyrics - it all sounds so beautiful together, the song left me speechless after the first listen and I've been playing it on repeat ever since. Genuinely a masterpiece and might be one of my fav Monkeys songs ever.
Great take, if I see Big ideas live and I’m drunk I’ll have to try hard not to end up crying, would be the same reaction for seeing Star Treatment and Ultracheese
Tranquility Base was an album that I revisited each year since it’s release and found myself loving it more and more until it became my favorite Monkeys album. The more I’ve listened to The Car the more it’s resonated with me, particularly because it feels like a great fall album. It will be a treat to see how this album ages.
As much as I like Body Paint I kinda hold a grudge for how much tamer the studio version is compared to whenever they've performed it live. Alex's vocals are thicker, longer outro with more elaborate fills from Helders, etc
yep. I've been a long time fan, love the early era of the debut + FWN, love the weird era of Humbug, love the sexy era of SIAS + AM, and absolutely love the mature era of TLSP + THBC + this new album. they're just a great band.
A very Bowie, Scott Walker, Leonard Cohen type of record. Really enjoyed the string compositions on this record. Can't wait for your dad to react to Humbug, one of their strongest entries with so good instrumentation.
I fucking adore this album, still having a little difficulty differentiating the songs, but they're all very good, and I'm really happy with how comfortable with singing Alex has become. Good stuff all around.
Great thing is with AM if you dislike their latest album you know you may like one of the later ones as they continuously evolve. Wouldn't be surprised if they go in the directino of 'Sculptures' and do more synth heavy moody 80s stuff.
That’s so strange you guys didn’t find “Perfect sense” fitting for a closing song 🤔When I heard it the first time, it felt like a very peaceful goodbye, a coming to terms with change. Just beautiful.
I think it talks about those endings (to say goodbye) that maybe dont feel too organic at first (If that's what it takes, then that's what it takes), but then they end up making perfect sense, as you said, coming to terms with change and it communicates that whole experience. It strikes me, the first time I heard it it made me cry.
These last two albums (the car, tbhc) have been my favorite albums of all time, it brings me to a nostalgic place I’ve never lived, they’re different sides of the same coin, amazing!
So, if you guys liked the orchestration in this album but miss a little bit of punch, definitely it's a great time to revisit TLSP latest album (Everything You've Come To Expect), so underrated.
oh my god yeah this album feels so james bond, glad to know i wasn’t the only one who thought that. especially with “big ideas”, it’s very james bondy; they so need to make a bond theme.
This album is so many good. Being a Brazilian fan of Arctic Monkeys, I am so happy with music Mr Schwartz. Have influence of Bossa Nova, a Brazilian Style of music. I liked Body Paint( especially the guitar solo), Sculptures of Anything Goes( is a work of art), Big idea( seems a gorgeous film song) and Hello you ( the riffs are so good). The voice of Alex is soo good, a great voice. Piano and lyrics are good too. And the Orchestra is the cherry of cake... In resume: The álbum is a work of art. Ps: I'm not really good in english. Can have many errors in the text... Sorry. Beijos do Brasil.
This seems to be the score of their journey as a band. Their sound changes as they grow, and I appreciate that they really don’t give a shit if fans don’t like it lol. They are putting out what they want to put out and I’m here for it. I personally love this kind of sound in music, and I love their older stuff as well (I’m on a balaclava kick rn). Yeah the lyrics I don’t always understand, but sometimes I feel like Alex isn’t always trying to make a point. I think he’s finding how words flow together, rather than making meaning? Idk but his lyricism makes me feel smart even though I have no idea wtf he’s talking abt haha
it hapened the same with me after I listened for the 1st time Perfect Sense, I felt a hollow at the end of the album which is really weird considering that the last song of each album is a banger which makes the conclusion for the album (IMO, I wanna be yours is the excepction to this), but after I read a lyrics of the song on Twitter which really caught my atention I came back to listen the song again. The lyrics are really sad telling of sucess, personal acomplishments and the realization that everything good must come to an end at some point. What a song, what an album... what a band.
My favorite song on the album is Big Ideas, I love the lyrics, the nostalgic message it has, I find the chorus catchy and the piano solo and especially the guitar solo, I loved it, it's too "smooth, elegant and so stylish" that's how I would describe it to the album
You guys should check out some of the music from The Last Shadow Puppets, which is Alex's other band with Miles Kane. I really love how they use orchestras in their music as well. I can definitely see some influence from their work in this album
Kevin’s comments about Alex Turner’s voice combined with orchestration highlights the fact you MUST react to The Last Shadow Puppets - ‘The Age of the Understatement’ from 2008. Great job fellas, love the channel 🙌
What makes Alex Turner's writing style so vivid and fascinating is the fact that he's basically using hiphop style of writing in the rock genre, if that makes sense. He has stated multiple times that his main inspirations for writing are the rappers he constantly listens to.
You have to do Wolf Alice's latest album "Blue Weekend" - they are England's next big band. So diverse in their sound from rock anthems, ballads, acoustic, shoegaze pop, prog rock, punk - they do it all.
I really like this album and it almost kinda bums me out when people don't like it. I feel people are expecting/wanting a new AM or something that is more rock-heavy, and if you're expecting that, this album will be a bit of a tough pill to swallow. But if you go in to it with an open mind and don't expect anything, which it seems nowadays is a good thing to do when the monkeys come out with an album, you'll find some amazing songs and a great experience. Plus, it almost seems a cool-like opinion nowadays to say you 'can't get through an album of the monkeys' or something. Normally I'm just a spectator and I don't react to videos. But I just have to say that you guys are great. Seeing you two have fun with these albums and spending time together is amazing to see and put's my relationship with my dad in a whole new perspective. The bit at the end where Kevin says it was fun spending spending time with Connor and listening to music together really hit me as a beautiful moment. Keep it up you guys, I really really really enjoy these videos and I'm glad to see that you are too.
My dad was a musician and we used to talk about music and listen to albums together as well. Seeing you with your dad, reacting to songs, warms my heart and ache it at the same time! Enjoy your times together! Great video! Thanks.
Really respect Arctic Monkeys, they could have just repeated the meteoric success of AM, but they chose to start making different things, the last two albums certainly don't hit you as hard on first listen, but they are very intriguing and rewarding for repeat listenings
"Sculptures of Anything Goes" is thought to be Alex Turner's answer to those fans who think that the band's new direction is not what they are. I personally love the direction they are going. Great reaction, can't wait for the TBH+C reaction!
this one is their (and mine) most personal album I feel like.. so this will always be special.. each song is getting better with every listen.. I love when songs do that.. I think this will soon become one of the albums I'll revisit the most
great album. i mean i initially got into them for their iconic garage vibes, but they are really killing this new sound. executed perfectly, and i love how we’re seeing that range from alex’s vocals as well. they’re lyrics are growing way more and i’m honestly in love with them because i like the fact that you might not understand it in the first listen. gives you a good reason to keep listening and keep finding the little things which then helps you get a more meaningful connection with the story and the song. love it, love their new aesthetic! i’ll always stick by with their evolution + growth and i fear for the people still stuck in their 2014 era.
This was an absolute hit for me. I stayed up for this release and was not disappointed. I loved TBHC so much though too. Please listen to Humbug. It is one of their most underrated albums in my personal opinion. It is darker and my personal fave.
@@KJ-je9pm I recently tried to really think which one was my fave, but it was so hard tbh. I think I narrowed it down to humbug because some of those songs are really my all time favorite songs. I love how different that album is too compared to the first 2.
@@laismarcelino945 TBHC is really so good. I actually love so many of the lyrics on that album and I love the performance part of it that’s kinda show like. A lot of people just don’t understand it.
Is that your take? Interesting. I took it more of him talking to his ex about whether her mother ever thinks about him as in 'ah she lost a good guy there'. I'm not going to be able to unheard your take now haha.
I also thought something else...the song seems to be about their shift in direction and musical evolution. Perhaps he's saying that when kids are listening to their new stuff will their parents who love the old sound ever think about the band. Bit of a stretch with that one but it sort of works.
I seriously can’t describe how in love I am with this album. I love the fact that Alex writes in such a way that leaves you wanting to dig deeper into the songs just so you can figure out the metaphors and the messages he’s trying to send to the listeners. “The Car” also does such a good job in establishing a certain mood. It’s nostalgic, reminiscent, and somehow regretful. I genuinely want to know what Alex’s mind looked like durning the writing process. Definitely a 10/10 album for me.
Change is good. They're the real example of that. All of their albums remains beautifully executed with all those different styles. 100+ songs that we will enjoy till we get really old.
It is pretty Flody in places isn’t it, especially having an atmospheric song with synths and strings and then a filthy solo thrown in for good measure, a la Gilmour
Based on this, I think you will LOVE Alex Turner's second band with Miles Kane called The Last Shadow Puppets. They have two albums out, released 8 years apart. I highly recommend their second one called Everything You've Come to Expect (2016). It has tons of great orchestra and guitar arrangements.
I love this new album and the overall feel of the songs. Lyrics aren't something I ever focus on too much in music, but I can see how people who really try to understand lyrics would find it confusing!
This album is a cinematic masterpiece!!! You never know what to expect from them, but surely they never disappoint! thank you for doing this one! And please do their debut album :)
i just love the everything you've come to expect vibes... literally the perfect album for me. that's easily my favorite album from them so far, and i'm obsessed with TBHC since it came out... the band has just reached a very mature sound and i guess i'm growing old and they just keep soundtracking my growing up too... i'm very emotional rn i was just in need of a masterpiece like that
ONE OF MY FAV BANDS TODAY ALONG WITH FLOYD BEATLES AND 1000 MORE... AND YES FOR SURE THERE IS AMAZING MUSIC OUT THERE TODAY AND IM 68 AND CANT GET ENOUGH OF MUSIC...ARTIC MONKEYS I KNEW FROM DAY ONE WHEN I GOT THE ROLLING STONE MAG THE N THE COVER... LONGLONG AGO.... I PAY IT FORWARD ALWAYS AND I CRY ALSO ALL THE TIME MIRROR BALL MAKES ME CRY ALWAYS... ELBOW IS AN AMAZING BAND AND LOVE U ALL LOVE HARRY....
I liked the album on first listen but I didn't fully get it. Then I watched Alex's interview with Zane Lowe and I have progressively fallen more in love with the album with every listen. Hearing Alex talk about the car as a reflective and nostalgic space really solidified the emotion I felt through the instrumentation and allowed me to dig into the lyrics.
My fave is Big ideas and Mr. Schwartz. It makes me feel so nostalgic. Also I ain't quite where I think I am has such perfect riffs. The whole album is so well executed in every aspect.
You guys gotta watch their live at kings theatre on their youtube, its only up until Thursday! Hearing the new stuff live really makes it shine, and the way they mix it with their old stuff may help critics make perfect sense (haha) of their sound evolutions
@@cheesy4384 I’m not sure, it’s what they said on Twitter/insta while promoting the video. Hopefully it means they are making a recording of the whole show into a live album!
This is like their beatles type album cinematic bond theme atmosphere.... body paint the car and mostly mirrorball are the licks ...mirrorball will be a funeral send off track for many ❤❤❤
This album is definitely a grower for me. I was one of those people who absolutely adored Tranquility Base. Mainly because of the 'escapism'. It does a really good job of world building and transporting you somewhere else. It definitely had a real concept to it. Whereas so far with this album although it is similarly 'loungy', it feels much more down to earth (heh) and doesn't feel like it has as much of a theme to me, which I miss having loved Tranquility Base. But the more I listen the more Iike it.
I think the way you guys are reacting to the AM albums is perfect. Starting off with the rock of FWN & AM, then TBHC and The Cars jazzier style. Then finishing it off with their balls to the wall debut as a breath of fresh air 😁
Really love hearing your takes on the album. One thing I will say is that I felt Perfect Sense was such a lovely ending to the album because it felt like so much of the album was about self doubt and Perfect Sense was about taking a step back and appreciating the little things and knowing things are okay
Im happy people can enjoy this record, i was interested to see your reaction to this album because i really can’t get into compared to the rest of their albums
awesome to see your reactions! First time I listened to it I haven't enjoyed it that much, but every time I listened again I liked it more and more, I think this cinematic vibe is really touchy and Alex seems to have grown a lot as a composer. My favorite ones are Hello You, Big Ideas and Mr. Schwartz
I think the record is absolutely gorgeous. I think both this and tbhc need quite a few listens and then it just kind of clicks. I understand the comments on lyrics but sometimes we're just in Alex's fantasy land and there are some really really strong lines on this album. TBHC has 2 tracks probs in my top 5 monkeys songs and mirror ball on this album blows me away the more times i hear it!
SO SO GLAD YOU DID THIS ALBUM! there’d better be a mirrorball (since it’s been out the longest) has taken over me and it is so so moving. i love it. the other songs are quite interesting and it’ll take a few more listens to immersing myself in every aspect of the songs yk.
Great album. I think it´s the logical successor of TBHC and what Alex has been doing with TLSP, you can really hear their influences in this new record. I really appreciate the fact that the band takes their new music in the direction they want to, and not where fans want them to (sorry AM lovers).
TBHC is by far my favorite album followed by FWN but man The Car is a such a great follow up to the high TBHC gave(to me personally). The sound and production is just spot on as always!
Alex Turner has said not to take his lyrics to mean about specific events but rather trying to convey and get across a specific emotion as a whole piece
I was at an arctic monkeys show yesterday night and I swear it was beautiful, intimate and very well done. Alex voice is very unique, such a cool tone. Now he is an adult (HAHAHA yeap, we are all old now friends) he can do lows and hold on to the notes very beautifully, and he developed more control, even when he does falsettos, was a nice surprise for me. Oh, and they still play guitar haha , the show has a lot of solo guitar moments (but the drummer is the true star, love that man energy HAHAH)
Hi, I'm from Chile in South America, and I've listened to the Arctic Monkeys since I was very young and I really think that this album could easily be my favorite because of its music and its evolution, greetings:)
I mean I love every Arctic monkeys album still. They’re unique in my own way and this album is another great addition to my collection. I do feel like they’ll always be shadowed by the just perfection that is AM. But their music is amazing either way.
i just cant stop listening to the album really, like a few months ago i was i need for more of this, when i fell in love with TBH&C all over again and now i have two gems
I feel this album is really where Alex's heart is right now. It is a double edged sword, cause you get this great mellow feeling, super smooth orchestras and beautiful melodies, but you lose the kick, that you would otherwise get with Arctic Monkeys. It really is about the verse, not the chorus, it is music for when you are looking out the window on a beautiful autumn afternoon with a glass of Baileys in your hand, sitting right by the fireplace.
Alex said on a recent interview with Zane Lowe that the main theme he had for the album was a setting of a show setting up before the show starts. If you go through the Car and think about that, songs like Mr Schwartz etc make a bit more sense. I loved it along with tranquility base…
would be good if you done a series of arctic monkeys albums, from start to finish. I have followed them since I was 13 and I'm now 30 and have followed them since the first album. Seeing your dad's face light up listening to favourite worst nightmare was so nostalgic for me. keep up the good work.
If I'm driving my car alone, Mr.Schwartz > Hello you > Mirrorball > Body Paint Just oozes class and takes you back into the past. Amazing album to listen when you're alone in the car.
I still miss the old AM sound from their first two albums but for what this album is and what their last one was, I REALLY like a lot of what they did here. I would have loved to see some more stylistic exploration and moving away from the ballad-y stuff a bit more but their string arrangements were PERFECT.
I think whilst some tracks are clearly ballads, there are some that give the impression they are straight forward love songs but have a lot more hidden in there to be unpacked. I'd say at least half this album explores different themes to love. Loneliness, fame, being a musician etc.
Perfect Sense is the perfect closer! The whole project is so melancholic and several times throughout you can feel a sense of longing. Going back to the place where you once were just to have that feeling again kind-of-thing. Perfect Sense is against that, knowing that we can't be stuck in that same headspace forever, nor stay at the same place in time. In regards to the artist (Arctic Monkeys) it reflects on all the things that come together to make such a project work, sometimes sensible but often times not. "A four-figure sum on a hotel notepad" "[Man from the Excecutive Branch] having some fun with the warm-up act". In Order to say "Good Night" / to finish a project and get on with things, these weird sometimes unreasonable things must happen. And then the last Verse kicks in: "Keep reminding me that it ain't a race" that we should non the less not forget to enjoy the process. But in order to not overstate your welcome you don't get a grand final. They kick you out right away, so you don't get the taste of melancholy hanging in your mouth. That's why it ends so abruptly.
Probably their most undistinguished album, but Body Paint is legitimately world class. I heard it live yesterday and it was their best performance in an overall amazing show.
The Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino reaction has been filmed, I just need to finish editing it. Will be up on TH-cam soon, but if you feel like watching the uncut version early it's available on Patreon now.

@@myprogram3067 this is why i dont go on music reddit
Masterclass writing. The album doesnt deserve the hate. Alex turner is one of the greatest writers of this generation.
@@paulnottherealmccartney8558 carti better 🧛🧛🧛
A very Bowie, Scott Walker, Leonard Cohen type of record. Really enjoyed the string compositions on this record. Can't wait for your dad to react to Humbug, one of their strongest entries with so good instrumentation.
The Car especially is very Scott Walker. Also getting Destroyer vibes to name a more modern comparison (the synths, the cryptic young singer vibes).
Super bowie inspired, super.
WE NEED A HUMBUG REACTION!! i think pops will really love it
The love for Big Ideas makes me so happy! It was an immediate favourite for me. It’s such a career defining song.
So true!!
Tranquility had a isolating, evil bounce to it. This has a more inviting warm blanket feel to it.
I fucking adore this album, still having a little difficulty differentiating the songs, but they're all very good, and I'm really happy with how comfortable with singing Alex has become. Good stuff all around.
I hate when people hate on them because of their change in sound. I think it was their best idea yet! definitely one of my fav albums now
Great thing is with AM if you dislike their latest album you know you may like one of the later ones as they continuously evolve. Wouldn't be surprised if they go in the directino of 'Sculptures' and do more synth heavy moody 80s stuff.
They switch it up and I respect them so much for that
This album is shit deal with it
That’s so strange you guys didn’t find “Perfect sense” fitting for a closing song 🤔When I heard it the first time, it felt like a very peaceful goodbye, a coming to terms with change. Just beautiful.
Exactly how I felt! and It fits really well after Mr Schwartz
I felt the same, short and sweet. Like a good bye that isn’t meant to last forever almost.
Perfect sense is such an amazing song, I’m really disappointed by the lack of recognition for it.
The song “Black Plant” from Alex’ second band The Last Shadow Puppets is the ultimate James Bond theme!
What rappers does he listen to?
At the end rock lyrics mostly times seems hiphopnstyle wirtting
@@marzz4698 I think Dr. Dre and Snoop were some of these rappers.
That's not entirely true. He stated old school west coast hip hop was an inspiration for AM but they've definitely moved on from that sound and style
@@liamchapman6889 not just for AM. You can observe it in the first album. Alex praxtixally raps in some of the songs in WPSIATWIN.
You have to do Wolf Alice's latest album "Blue Weekend" - they are England's next big band. So diverse in their sound from rock anthems, ballads, acoustic, shoegaze pop, prog rock, punk - they do it all.
Perfect Sense is one of my favorite songs of their discography
Thank you Max ❤
I also think that about big ideas!!
@@cool8338 I agree! Just wonderful writing by Alex all around 🙌
Mirrorball is them telling us dont expect any hit singles
Funnily enough, that's the one song that was born out of Jamie Cook playing around with a Moog synthesizer and is more of a band effort
@@Chikolad I did not know this. Makes it that much better of a song. Thank you for the info! 🤙🙏
this one is their (and mine) most personal album I feel like.. so this will always be special.. each song is getting better with every listen.. I love when songs do that.. I think this will soon become one of the albums I'll revisit the most
no one talks about hello you?? then ill say, its my favorite one. Randomly appeared in recommended and i loved it so much
great album. i mean i initially got into them for their iconic garage vibes, but they are really killing this new sound. executed perfectly, and i love how we’re seeing that range from alex’s vocals as well. they’re lyrics are growing way more and i’m honestly in love with them because i like the fact that you might not understand it in the first listen. gives you a good reason to keep listening and keep finding the little things which then helps you get a more meaningful connection with the story and the song. love it, love their new aesthetic! i’ll always stick by with their evolution + growth and i fear for the people still stuck in their 2014 era.
This was an absolute hit for me. I stayed up for this release and was not disappointed. I loved TBHC so much though too. Please listen to Humbug. It is one of their most underrated albums in my personal opinion. It is darker and my personal fave.
Humbug is my personal fave album of theirs too! Although I love all of them
Humbug is my fave as well, when they released TBH+C it became my new favorite for a while, but now 4 years later Humbug still holds the crown for me
@@KJ-je9pm I recently tried to really think which one was my fave, but it was so hard tbh.
"Whilst wonderin' if your mother still ever think of me" in Sculptures Of Anything Goes made me laugh out loud. Literally the Yo Mama joke
‘Village coffee mornings with not long since retired spies
Now that's my idea of a good time’ made me laugh out loud.
@@dddgtsd this is exactly how I interpreted it. The album is very self aware and Alex seems to be mostly reminiscing while talking to the fans
big ideas, sculptures and mirrorball are just like perfection
This album personally reminded me of a Pink Floyd album - from the poetic lyrics, to the grand themes, to the instrumentals
Not even close
@@lomstair7546 nah the solo on Body paint is 100% Gilmore tone
It is pretty Flody in places isn’t it, especially having an atmospheric song with synths and strings and then a filthy solo thrown in for good measure, a la Gilmour
I thought the same
Mirror ball was the first AM song I’ve ever heard like 2 months ago and now I’m hooked ngl 😭💯
SO GOOD! definitely took me a few listens to get into it, but i think it might be my favorite after tbhc
A true masterpiece, a moving work of art.... absolutely stunned by The Car
Arctick Monkeys always do whatever they want, and everything they do is always great; this is different, complex and amazing.
This album is a cinematic masterpiece!!! You never know what to expect from them, but surely they never disappoint! thank you for doing this one! And please do their debut album :)
Love the react to this album. It really feels like they show a new talent on each album.
i just love the everything you've come to expect vibes... literally the perfect album for me.
that's easily my favorite album from them so far, and i'm obsessed with TBHC since it came out... the band has just reached a very mature sound and i guess i'm growing old and they just keep soundtracking my growing up too... i'm very emotional rn i was just in need of a masterpiece like that
This
I was a fan of am album when it first came out but I didn’t listening back till 2016 after I listened to TLSP Everything you’ve come to expect

Hello You was my favorite track on this album. The ascending and then descending guitar riffs in it scratched an itch in my brain
i feel you. And its the first one of the album i listened to
My fave is Big ideas and Mr. Schwartz. It makes me feel so nostalgic. Also I ain't quite where I think I am has such perfect riffs. The whole album is so well executed in every aspect.
all the arctic monkeys albums are so different from each other and so beautiful in their own ways i love them so much
This album is one that grows on you so much with every listen. Body paint, mirror ball, big ideas are all just so fucking beautiful to me 😭
i‘m so in love with this album
You guys gotta watch their live at kings theatre on their youtube, its only up until Thursday! Hearing the new stuff live really makes it shine, and the way they mix it with their old stuff may help critics make perfect sense (haha) of their sound evolutions
why's it only up until thursday?
@@cheesy4384 I’m not sure, it’s what they said on Twitter/insta while promoting the video. Hopefully it means they are making a recording of the whole show into a live album!
I am beyond hyped for Kevin to react to AM’s debut
instagram funny man
This is like their beatles type album cinematic bond theme atmosphere.... body paint the car and mostly mirrorball are the licks ...mirrorball will be a funeral send off track for many ❤❤❤
This album is definitely a grower for me.
I freaking loved this album, it seems a TBHC evolution and more expanded.
Really love hearing your takes on the album. One thing I will say is that I felt Perfect Sense was such a lovely ending to the album because it felt like so much of the album was about self doubt and Perfect Sense was about taking a step back and appreciating the little things and knowing things are okay
Im happy people can enjoy this record, i was interested to see your reaction to this album because i really can’t get into compared to the rest of their albums
got the pre-order vinyl and spent hours listening this the day before release, it’s a masterpiece to me
awesome to see your reactions! First time I listened to it I haven't enjoyed it that much, but every time I listened again I liked it more and more, I think this cinematic vibe is really touchy and Alex seems to have grown a lot as a composer. My favorite ones are Hello You, Big Ideas and Mr. Schwartz
Been waiting for this reaction since the album came out
I think the record is absolutely gorgeous.
Started listening to the car a lot more. And now its my favorite AM album
It is as if Alex wrote this album as a soundtrack for the sequel to Submarine that is set 20 years in the future from where the original movie ended.
Damn sculptures of anything goes hits different
Alex Turner has said not to take his lyrics to mean about specific events but rather trying to convey and get across a specific emotion as a whole piece
big ideas is like a top five of theirs for me already, it's astounding shit
Totally agree I’ve never heard them do a song like that before only thing close is the only ones who know from FWN
Really excited. The car is love at first sound!
Hi, I'm from Chile in South America, and I've listened to the Arctic Monkeys since I was very young and I really think that this album could easily be my favorite because of its music and its evolution, greetings:)
wena compa saludos del mejor país de chile!
Awante Chile
I mean I love every Arctic monkeys album still. They’re unique in my own way and this album is another great addition to my collection.
I do feel like they’ll always be shadowed by the just perfection that is AM. But their music is amazing either way.
i just cant stop listening to the album really, like a few months ago i was i need for more of this, when i fell in love with TBH&C all over again
and now i have two gems
I JUST SAW THE BFIAFL VINYL OVER THERE PLEASE GIVE US THE REACTION MATE!!!!
If I'm driving my car alone, Mr.Schwartz > Hello you > Mirrorball > Body Paint
Just oozes class and takes you back into the past. Amazing album to listen when you're alone in the car.
Great reaction guys! Body paint has been on my brain since I heard it. I can hear The Beatles in that one. I love the sound of this album.
Hope you enjoy my interpretation of things.
Probably their most undistinguished album, but Body Paint is legitimately world class. I heard it live yesterday and it was their best performance in an overall amazing show.
this project is becoming one of my favs from them. loved the reaction. wishing u both the best
