Check out the Black Hills in South Dakota when you can! Its an incredible spot that is very rider friendly with plenty of ATV, Dirtbike, and SxS Trails! Lots of single track also!
Been out to Sturgis and black hills on my harley in 21. I had a ktm 500 in 2012. Been thinking about an adventure bike for about a year now lol... Think I'm gonna grab another 500
KLR is really aren't designed for what you're doing they're designed for just highway street riding and then the occasional dirt road they're too heavy for this off-road single track stuff what you doing what you have is a really good fight design for more of the Motocross than the street writing so you got a great bike there
I downloaded all trails and the avenza trail map both of those suck I just stick to a traditional map paper map which was the easiest to follow in my tank bag has a clear cover in the front for maps so all I have to do is look down look at the numbers see the number of the trail I'm on anyways for me I tried those apps they didn't work not one time but I know they work for a lot of people

I'm planning checking the area this spring and break in my new CRF450RL. I wasn't aware of the off road sticker. Glad I watched!

My KLX 250 is a 2 gallon tank and I go the same distance you do on your 2 1/2 gallon tank
