The JU-06a is probably my favorite synth too, dig your walk through. To fix the pattern autostart issue you can clear out and save the first pattern. Go into pattern edit mode, with the first pattern, remove all active steps and then press and hold START+1/(the pattern you want to save.).
I’ve owned several Juno 106s over the years and recently got one of these. I really don’t know how they did it but it’s a Juno 106 in a tiny little box. Amazing really.
Hi there! I think your sending transport control messages from your keystep appart from clock signal through midi cable. Thinking of options to solve this quickly: 1 - Set "sending transport controls" to OFF in the midi control center software from Arturia. 2 - Set keystep to send only clock signal at its back pannel, then disconnect midi cable and connect clock out to Ext clock in from Ju06A with a mono Jack (clock but no notes/transport controls from arturia over Roland). Hope It helps. 😉
I really love this compilation and esp your custom patches; very inspirational for an album I’m working on; Gotta look more into the JU-06A or keys equivalent (maybe Juno DS-61 or Juno-X keyboards??)
It's been so long... All I can remember is using one of the "Random LFOs" to slightly modulate the pitch. I think it was "Random 2" when you search for the extra LFO shapes in the menu. Hope that helps a little 🤷♂️
You really know way your way around this unit. I think you make it sound nice. Some synths might sound a little fatter, but then you'll be spending more too.
Thanks a lot. I personally find it difficult to tell the difference between the old Juno and this one.. especially in a mix. But maybe I just don't have the ear for it..
@@realmsofficialmusic1398 Yeah I know what you mean. I've never played an original, so I want to be careful about opening my big fat mouth. But based on what I hear in comparison videos, it seems pretty close. And you don't have to worry as much about these boutiques breaking down on you. I have a System-8, and I love it.
I used one of the extra LFO shapes found in the menu on the JU-06a. I think it was "Random 2". Turn the cutoff frequency down so it sounds warm and modulate the cutoff just a tiny bit with the random LFO. Give the envelope a nice long release time and you should be pretty close to what I had there, as far as I can remember. I also added external reverb! And delay with lots of feedback either from the JU-06a or external... can't remember. Hope this helps, thanks for the nice comment!
Received mine Ju06a today..first impressions are mixed - very flexible but a bit thin and weak sounds.. it seemed like vst in a box...I used to have Roland Juno 6 and Jx3p..and expected identical Roland true analog sound...hmmm.. but after 2 hours of playing wirh Ju 06a I started to change my mind...
Hmm. Sorry to hear that you were disappointed. I never played the origional Juno or Jx3p, but that being said I really love the simplicity of the JU-06A and the sounds are good enough to my ears. Maybe it'll grow on you if you keep on playing and writing music with it 🙂
@@sarahhey8654 Bullshit...The dsp on the boutique series is no joke - especially on the SH-01a. Absolutely no one can tell a difference between the boutique and the original in a blind test. Period.
Yes. It's easy to save your own patches, but you'll have to sacrifice one of the origional factory patches and save yours in its place. Kinda stinks. 🤷♂️
The JU-06a does have built in delay which is nice. But sadly the 4 voice polyphony is absolutely crippling. Such a shame. I really do like the synth but after getting the JX-08 yesterday and playing with the loads of polyphony it has, it becomes clear just how bad 4 voices is.
@@mikeb2575 but it works only if they are both set on the same patch, that makes your presets copied x2, or an intense use of pc to change/export/save banks :(
maybe an alternative is to use it to control the roland cloud vst, which is 8 voice .. or go up to the big brother system 8, they share the same technology of synthesis
I do love the 3DFX2000. It has an incredible value for the price, and the reverb sounds absolutely succulent. Not to mention it does chorus and delay and flanger and various other effects!
I hate the fact that the internal sequencer starts playing too, when eg. sending clock/midi notes from my octatrack. would be good to have an option to select that the JU-06a does not respond to start/stop messages. But I don't think this is possible, open to any suggestions too!

Yes, most of them. Theres a few of my own custom presets sprinkled in there like the "wind" patch and a couple others where I put a caption on the screen saying they are my own custom patches.
I disagree. Maybe professional studios don't have a use for desktop modules, but to me it's the ideal format because I don't have room nor use for more keyboards, and rack units are supposed to have permanent cabling, which to me is not convenient.
Of course they do not sound the same. They are 2 different technologies. An emulation per definition does not equals the original. And no, non of both sound better or worse than the other. They sound different.
Just ordered it based on your sounds. Thank you. Been on list too long!
That's awesome! Have fun and don't forget to add some reverb 😉
Best sound demo about the JU-06A on TH-cam. Thanx.
Thank you very much!
The greatest JU-06a intro! Sounds are so authentique!
Thank you 😁

Thank you very much for the kind words on my custom patches. Good luck with your album. Send me a link!
The patch on 21:30 is also amazing! How did you make it?
Does it compatible with velocity from external midi controller
Yes, it is velocity sensitive with an external midi controller.
You can access the velocity sensitivity value in the menu on the synth.
@realmsofficialmusic1398 thank you. Can you do video to create Pulse wave modulation. I am considering buy this Synth. Thank you again
In order to prevent the JU-6A sequence to play, you can simply mute all steps. It's annoying, but it works
Thanks a lot, that was really annoying 😅
Im sorry im fairly new at this, how do you create a custom patch? I really like that sound. The first one you played
Can you advise how you made a patch which appears on 9:03?

100% sounds thin and not fat like an original analog juno...but in a mix, that could be useful if you have the low end covered with another synth....

Hi. Can you control this roland JU06a module with the roland gaia sh01 synth via midi cable? Thanks
As long as the Gaia synth has a midi out then yes. You can control the ju-06a with anything that sends midi out through a 5 pin DIN cable.
