"Ask Dr. Mike" should ask a real expert in bleeding control how to address a bleeding emergency. His lack of knowledge in the subject is profound and broadcasting this to the masses is a huge disservice to the public which could result in someone bleeding to death when a bystander tries to do this in real life.

*I agree, it was not even a tourniquet.*
*Improvising a tourniquet is already bad (commercial ones should be your go to option) but improvising a terrible tourniquet is even worst.*

Yeah that's not going to stop any bleeding you need a winless are some other mechanical advantage.

Is this guy even a doctor? Doesn't know the difference between a pressure dressing or a tourniquet. Also, hasty tourniquets have around an 80% failure rate per CoTCCC. Shoulda gotten a real expert on the show because this is awful.

@@vampiremj01 yes,vim aware, but what was done here is never going to stop any kind of serious bleeding. In fact 80% of improvised tourniquets fail. An effective TQ needs to use sturdy cloth, a strong windlass, and even then a prayer or two that it works.

@@vampiremj01 being a family practice doctor does not mean you are proficient at emergency trauma medicine. Improvised "tourniquets" like this one here, will absolutely fail and get your patient killed.

Not even close to an effective tourniquet. Shame on this doctor. Spreading this information is blatantly irresponsible.

God, this is so irresponsible of Dr. Mike. Makeshift tourniquets do not work. What he should be advocating for is for public access bleeding control supplies, like a proper TQ, and encouraging all people to get trained in it, much like he encourages everyone to get CPR trained
