From a business perspective, perhaps keep one expensive toy, but then to be investing in replacing the very dated workshop machinery, which at the end of the day, pays your wages and rent.
Lee it good to see the lad using the torque wrench the correct way i was shown 45 years ago by motor engineer, a lot of people use this tool incorrectly well dune sun .......
Isaac is 100% right. You don't use the kit car enough to justify keeping it. Furthermore you lead a lifestyle that offers limited opportunities to go out and enjoy the experience whilst running the risk of bad weather or unfavourable track conditions. If you could find a structurally sound Civic you can do all the mechanical stuff yourselves with good parts availability and lots of user content information.
The kit car is not comfortable in the cold and wet and if you have an on-track incident, you're putting your life in peril. Not only that, but you have a greater chance of being hurt on the roadway. If I had money, I'd think about buying Isaac that grey van for his daily and let him cash out of that horrible BMW and sadly, that Subaru, as well. A Honda Civic R could well be a lot of smiles and I know of a capable engineering fellow(s) who can keep it running. I had an opportunity to drive a CRX when they were new and my goodness, it was a little rocket ship!
Go for it you’ll not regret it for day to day running around. Last month I was seeing deals of id7’s on salary sacrifice for £350 / month. We have an MG4 SE (non lease) - it’s great no issues in 30 months / 30000 miles. - Once you have an EV, then batteries, ASHP will follow - its a no brainer - £100/month in winter to run everything - before it was £500 for Gas, Electric & Derv.
The kit car and the E30, yes great, they compliment each other, but a Civic and the E30 I dont understand. As soon as the sun comes out, you'll regret it. Also, it doesn't make sense from a business perspective. The kit car and the E30 are 'specials', so they are what they are, but a Civic type R is a Civic type R, so the Barum Engines one better be the fastest Civic on the track. If not, it could actually have a negative effect on the business!
Not for everyone; lease it, buisness and mainly business use owners can get good tax breaks, and if they can charge at work and home (they have a garage/drive) and do mainly short journeys they can make great sense…. For most of the general public, I agree they are at best a big risk from depreciation, if you don’t have a drive or garage they are a head ache and inconvenience.
I had a similar kit car. At the start I used it as a daily driver in good weather. Upgraded to an LET engine and used it a lot less as not as easy to drive. Always good fun on track but very little cruising done. If wet it was outright dangerous. Like yourselves I used it less and less so got rid. Someone else is getting lots of fun out of it during any good weather periods. I missed it to start with but I rarely think of it now and I’m not tempted to start over again. Good luck to you all and wish you every success in the future.
The incentives for EV's are good now, however the government "makes" 35 billion each year through fuel tax sales and VED, when there is no more fuel consuming vehicles on the road who is this cost going to be passed onto?
"when there is no more fuel consuming vehicles on the road who is this cost going to be passed onto:. New Zealand has just introduced a road tax for EVs to help fund road maintenance.
Id stop saying your running your family car though the business that’s a no no the trolls will be straight on to hmrc before you know it yep there ripping you to bits trust me been there done that
Good idea. Concentrate only only one project at once. For 2025, forget abut the Honda play car. Instead invest in finishing the workshop improvements, then investing in some new revenue generating equipment. ie you could start to balance V8 cranks inhouse, or get a CNC machine so you can start producing custom parts for Cossie engines.
Where does the Escort van fit in a performance sense? Sorry, but an Escort van really is ‘grey porridge’ from any performance standpoint, as far as I can see. Your current Transit will look and go better.
There was a chap up the road here in Capetown South Africa who used to make the chassis for 7 replicas, he made about 23 or so cars over the years and I was really keen to get one, they were very good. The problem was there weren't enough of them racing to make a dedicated category for them so you were on track with some pretty hot saloon cars too and the little 7s just looked too vulnerable, then one day one of these saloon cars ended up on top of one of the 7s, I was next on the scene and thought oh no, it looked really bad but fortunately the driver was okay, however I shelved my plans to get one after seeing that. I think it would be okay if it was a full field of 7s and I believe you do have that in England, but sharing the track with that big metal stuff doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
Isaac dont let him do anymore videos, he has a knack of waving the camera around like a chequered flag lol. Type R Honda is what someone uses around Swindon area as a Learner drivers car and going by the video showing it at REPerformance of it its a nuts car to learn in, look forward to that one
Ive had a few sports cars, two Caterham's, and Kit cars, last one a homebuilt Locost, and built by me! i will never own a car like this again, what a palaver, track days and a few sunday blasts yes, but apart from that they are a PITA, and on the track, ive often wondered about what would happen if i rolled it, mm, not a good end to the day!
Unless you plan to store the kit car in the outside storage container, it's really wasting a vital space in the shop. You might as well do away with the lift with that vehicle occupying that as a storage space instead of being used to fix your other vehicles, OR build a mezzanine platform you can raise and lower on the lift to store any work that's 2 or 3 weeks away in terms of ordered parts arriving... A flat, giant size, beam reinforced pallet of sorts that motors can be stored upon in those poly bins so they can stack one or two deep, each in a bunch of paired up colors so ALL the parts fit in one obvious color coded place ? Those things nest together if only one is needed...Imagine if you could get 10 of hose in process motors off the floor, but still readily accessible with lift.
"build a mezzanine platform you can raise and lower on the lift to store any work that's 2 or 3 weeks away in terms of ordered parts arriving... ' Good idea. Sell the kit car and invest in a small electric fork truck, that you can use to move heavy parts around, and to use when storing pallets up on a new mezzanine floor. Your local engineering/welding shop should be able to prefab a bolt together mezzanine floor for you. See: th-cam.com/video/1Qqc7N1ZfJU/w-d-xo.html. AND: th-cam.com/video/g_BCVf0HSEo/w-d-xo.html
Chatting to Isaac while he is torqueing stuff up is a bad idea, Torqueing component's up needs maximum concentration in my experience as a vehicle tech.
I've been involved in running Honda race cars for 20 plus years We have 2 K20A powered vehicle's at the moment. The engine s are standard other than been remapped. The only problem with the K20A is the sump is a big bath. To make them reliable pull the sump off and fit a baffles in the sump, then it will be reliable
You will not regret a Civic. I've had mine since '08, and it is still amazing. Supposedly 0-60 in 7.1 sec, and the top speed of 231mph. And if one still craves open air, the US spec came with a sunroof. And it revs--and revs. When the VTEC kicks in it feels turbocharged. Enjoy.
Questions on life of electric powered motor? Range on one charge, life of battery pack, resale value as remaining life of battery pack is unknown or prove able. Fact that occasionally some burst into flames and gas escaping is Leathal. Please stick to engineering and leads Click Bait. John

Should have sold the kit car months ago, spent more stored and than used!
Yeah, it's too wet in that part of the UK for an open car.
Yes for a Civic the vtec sound 😊
"Because we are running out of room" Translation: We love to hoard stuff that we never use and we just store that stuff on the floor.

WHAT WILL be finished first ?
BMW or the Workshop renovation ... a tough one 🤔 😂
Ha ha ha. The escort van way those two are going.

thought you were selling the kit car months ago
You two are like family. No, you are family! Love the banter.
Danny and Rich at Dynodaze are a great source of info for tuned FN2's, they have a TH-cam channel called Dynodaze Honda Tuners
What’s the point having a Honda when you will have a bmw soon that will do a better job
And a mk1 escort van
I thought is was why you bought the BMW e30 for a track car?? 🤔
Electric car = BIG mistake.

Remember, show us the job, not each other.
Great idea about the kit car.
Time to move it on .
Incidentally why hasn't Issac got any safety shoes on ?
Get Issac back on camera or don't jerk the camera from him to head to him to head as fast

A business owner driving an electric car, makes perfect sense to me, sensible move
Do a give away for people who spend money on your merchant, lots you tube sights are doing it
Lee are having a mid life crisis...🤔
You can bet BIK will change within a year or two.
Paint it Barum Orange and let the Vtec kick in Yo
Spend the money on the business first, get better equipment so you can do better work. Toys don't make you money.

Expensive toy going then. More space in the workshop.👍
Raffle the kit car, give everyone a chance
I thought the BMW was for the track 😂

Not if you’re on the ball
Thinking that myself
Another reason they have so many warranty claims he says they're normal that's a load of crap
Sort that escort van for a little van it will be more reliable than a modern Ford.
FN2 type R ?!!!
All that lag and no turbo 😂😛

How is a car for your wife a company deductable?
please dont get an FN2, The EP3 is a better platform and you can get one with all the track bits for cheap enough.

Fn2 is the worst type r they built!
Isaac should get rid of that stupid unreliable subaru and get his own civic 😮

Renault engine in Mercedes not ford
So you build high performance internal combustion engines, but you are buying an electric car for the tax breaks….. total loss of respect …..
??????????
An EV for personal and family use makes good financial sense.
@@ataxpayer723 How?
oh no....im sure he will be devastated to hear that.
listen to what he said.
Get rid of Issac FFs
