Depreciation doesn't matter for a lease vehicle, plus over 5 years there's not much difference compared to an ice vehicle of similar spec.

Lee , I never comment on here ,but you talking EV is a serious bad idea. I follow a channel called The Macmaster and I highly recommend you have a look at what he says about his car. He has a Porsche Taycan and has had no end of recalls and updates on it. He recently received a letter about a recall saying there was a possible fault with battery shorts while charging . His insurance got wind of this recall and refused to renew his insurance ,not only that ,if he was charging the car at home ,they would not insure his property either.

What's this breakthrough technology you are keeping from the world? Meanwhile, in about a decade of active development a BEV with regenerative braking converts 90% of the energy put in into motion.

Nothing wrong with Ev if it's mostly in town driving. For the carbon footprint I don't think there's any difference between gasoline in electric. Because if you're charging your vehicle off a fossil fuel power plant it's no different. The only difference between Ev and gasoline is the Eevee doesn't leak oil like a conventional Gas or diesel on the roadway. In that respect the Ev is cleaner.

Best thing I did .. driving experience is different, much better and actually £75 a month cheaper total motoring costs - which is important to me and my wallet. My first was a Volvo XC40 Twin Motor with 408 Bhp and 0-50 in 4.5 seconds .. wolf in sheep's clothing .. would see off the boy racers around here. I now have the Renault Scenic Iconic with 220 Bhp. Both excellent cars. Don't mistake me for some rainbow coloured moccasin wearing tree hugger .. I tried it to find out for myself ... and would be very hard put to go back to ICE. The principal thin is that you get all the torque from zero

Don't look at EVs as competing with combustion engined cars. They're just different. They're better at doing ordinary car stuff. They're worse at doing extraordinary car stuff. Long-term, they're better for the environment. Short-term they're either the same or a bit worse (they're getting better as time passes). They're boring, boring, boring, as far as motorsports goes, so I wouldn't worry about your business on that account. Most owners say they wouldn't go back to driving a normal car after owning an EV. There is certainly an element of relearning, for how to keep your car sufficiently charged not to always worry you'll run out. They call it 'grazing'. It's basically plugging the thing in wherever you stop it, such as the supermarket, or the carpark at work, etc. Those who own a home that has off-road parking, always charge their car overnight on cheap-rate electric. Those who have solar roofs use the saved electricity in their powerbanks to charge their car up (mostly for nothing, if you're solar system has paid for itself). With the UK 'leading the world' in 'green' energy generation (OK, well, not leading, but very much ahead of most countries), using an EV not only keeps exhaust fumes away from our streets and children's lungs, but also doesn't just move the pollution somewhere else, so a win/win!

Check your house insurance - some companies now refusing insurance if you garage an EV at your house, due to the fire risk. If you are happy coping with all that, then.....good luck to you.

Seeing as you've got a few toys why not have the best of all worlds and as it will be a lease vehicle you are in the best position to get a great deal.

With a home charger on night rate we hardly notice the running costs. The insurance did not increase from the previous diesel Renault, nor did effect the house insurance. A lot of opinions and misinformation being put out there. The Mercedes EV's range should be better for the money. If depreciation is a concern, lease it. We did a contract purchase and have the chouce to walk away after three years.

We have 40 million vehicles on the road, to make them all electric is going to take an incredible amount of energy and resources and to charge them all will also take an incredible amount of energy, you can't get more bang for your buck than with fuel, so I believe that some "kind" of hybrid will be the future, also EV's have a greater mass, so it needs more materials, IE, resources.
I'm not having a go, it seams like trying to offset something, like having a load of vehicles that use fossil fuel and then saying I'm going to get an EV because I feel bad about using fossil fuels, it does make up for anything.

      @djgoode 5 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

@ ah I see it’s lack of knowledge and/or understanding. Ok let’s go with resources as a start yes as a start there’s a little more that goes into an EV. However once made the recyclability is greater. Battery is 95% recyclable where fuel you burn and it’s gone.
Which will then lead onto the ah but electricity thought process. Once you understand it takes a minimum of 25kWh of electricity to make a gallon of fuel. It’s easy to see that less energy is needed with EVs. If you then say ah but that powers got to get to all these chargers and you realise that no everyone isn’t getting an eV tomorrow. Then you can also realise the grid is expanding in line with hitting the expected transfer capacity. However the doomsday folk like to talk about if everyone had tomorrow when that’s not physically possible is abit daft. Especially when AI takes vast amounts of power yet hardly anyone is kicking up a fuss about upgrades needed to support that.

Good thinking. Having 2x delivery vans seems to be a duplication. Rather than a 100% EV, car why not explore some hybrid SUVs.. Then you wont have range anxiety when you go away on weekend trips with the family.

I do believe the germans were complaining about using petrol vehicles which is nothing wrong with them specially due to we are a small island ,and enforcing touse diesel which they say is a lot better ,now we know that they invented the diesel engine and the diesel fuel .
They are a lot better for hauling goods and long travelling so they would do well for the us and hauling companies but for a smallisland ,really so hence why you have to many bmws .
I do not drive never needed too ,there are only 3 cars i like , the mini , the cosworth and the mustang which is a muscle car
The bmw is just over engineered for this island of ours that is my opinion .

Only get an EV if you can charge at home. I’ve had one for over a year - 21k miles and with some public charging, has cost £650 in electric.
They don’t catch fire anywhere nearly as often as ICE vehicles despite what you hear.
Depreciation is bad, but all cars are the same.

Not thinking straight, sit down and think about it. Carbon footprint I don't think so , gas guzzling toys, what the hell is a v10 lambo any good for apart from posing, your Escort van and Beemer off set against tax for advertising etc. But an ev what a waist of money, check the depreciation, the risk factor extra volatile, and the mileage, money better spent on equipment, and petrol engined car for your wife.

Ummm, yeah...you definitely DO NOT want to go electric vehicle. Carbon footprint deal is all nice and dandy but the planet is past the point of no return and will be going into thermal runaway in the next 50 years. All wet can do is slow it down just a wee bit. Tons of freon dumping helps not one bit. Getting a petrol car that is frugal on the fuel is your best bet.

"Reducing your carbon offset". You're talking rubbish. You're doing it for financial reasons and BTW "all their vans are electric" is total rubbish, the amopunt of electric commercial vehicles in the UK is minimal. So much you see about chinese vehicles build quality is poor. Also take a look at your performance enthusiast/clients petrol heads, I wouldn't be surprised if you lost clients by going down this route. All that being said it maybe me that is talking rubbish. Only time will tell.

Out the back it still loks like the tip and some of the machinery should be in the junkers yard but i have still got money for a lambo and all the other cars you would not get any jobs from me😢😢😮

Just buy an electric BYD or Polestar and be happy. There's nothing better than an electric car. They are seriously quick off the mark. Don't buy a Tesla, they're over specced and overpriced.
