Wish the movie was longer. Thats how good it was. I remember going to summer camp as a child for a week. When it was time to leave my brother and I were balling our eyes out because we were gonna miss it. Movie made me want more. Really funny and Redford and Nolte’s characters seemed so real.
I've been waiting for years for this book to made into a movie! I read it outloud to my husband while camping in the Rocky Mountains and laughed so hard I could barely say the words! Love love love it! Perfect casting!!
+James Dunn , Nick was very personable and loved talking about his career. He was the real trooper due to the condition of his knees. (Operated on after film). Robert Redford stayed focused on the work. He read his newspaper daily and was polite and cordial. I saw the film when it was released and John Smith (Redford stand in) and I recieved film credit for our work on the film.
+Starvrgn I am glad you received film credit. Also, happy to hear Bob and Nick were nice. I know some of Bob's employees from Sundance and he is a good employer.
Nick was the perfect Katz! So was Redford as Bryson! I love the book and movie! I’ve read the book at least 3-4 times! And seen the movie at least that many times!
Robert redford a Nick nolte was fantastic in this touching wonderful funny movie.would love to see them both do another adventure big thumbs up to Robert and Nick thinks it makes me want to walk the Appalachian trail
I'm very excited for movie. Hope it doesn't disappoint me as much have read book a zillion times. Us readers will not be happy if it's changed by hollywood
too bad both Redford and Newman took way too long to make this movie. after Butch Cassidy and The Sting, they were MEANT to make another one...don't understand why it took FOREVER for em to reunite and make something together..??
+the madafaka I think it was because their first two movies had both been so good that they had impossibly high standards when it came to making a third movie. In their minds, the third movie had to be as good as BUTCH and the STING. They had finally decided to do WALK IN THE WOODS together but then Newman got cancer & he had to pull out unfortunately.
+the madafaka I actually would've thought writers would've been vying to make "the one" they liked. (they needed a Sundance Film Festival) I don't know, for all I know that may of happened, in some way. Don't know the particulars there. I do know though, that many still say "Rats! why the hell didn't that happen?!" every time they think about it. 3 movies for those two would've been perfect. Two, just always feels 'unfinished'.
I don't know why people keep trying to continue this myth that Robert Redford's hair is a wig. It is NOT. It is colored, for sure. No adult in their 80s has that color of hair--naturally. Take a gander at the cast of this year's movie "The Bookclub": ya think those actresses (Fonda, Bergen, Keaton, Steenburgen) really have hair those colors??? NOTTTT. Redford says his hair is full of cowlicks, so he doesn't even try to "style" it. If you watch him in interviews, he actually tossles it, messes it up, etc.

I was Nick Nolte's Stand-In and Photo Double for entire production. Filming it was extremely funny.
Nice guys, Bob and Nick?

Excellent movie, even better experiencing it in person.
One of my favourite books and definitely one of my favourite films especially with Robert Redford.
One of the most enjoyable story's I ever read. Great, enjoyable movie too!
I laughed from start to finish what a great movie

Any movie that promotes walking, is good. Because in the coming years, for whatever reason, we're all going to be doing a whole lot more of it.
***SO beyond happy to see this made to movie. Nothing like the books though!
Makes you want to hike
I love Bill's books
Damn! Bryson sounds a bit British-Brilliant!
I enjoyed the book, as yet I have not seen the movie.
Very funny, touching film (Nick in The Natural? Now that would've been fun; hard-drinking, broken-down ballplayer trying to make it in the pros).

Please stay in the book Right !!! Do not run away from book

The guy in book was not an old broke down drunk as sadly Nick nolte became
Nice Redford wig.

Allll his money and he has rotted out teeth !! Why
Nick looks very very old!
Yes great book. But Nick note is toooo old for other part. Sounds like a homeless drunk and not right for the part
Mediocre movie. Nolte had a couple strong scenes.
+Dale Chawkins i agree Dale. No where near as good as it should have been. didn't think Redford played bill very well at all.
