Eternights was surprisingly fun, definitely keeping an eye on the dev's next work now that he got more experience and resources Are you gonna review Reynatis once it comes out?
Interesting to see Soulslike on a list of RPGs... i now wonder if at one point, the term "Soulslike" would never have formally existed and they'd still be defined as Action RPGs. It's an interesting game for sure, Artistically strong like you say, so i don't complain at the inclusion of it. ON the note of Indie RPGs, have the likes of Pillory and My Familiar been on your radar? I'm tempted to say Clash: Artifacts of Chaos too but despite some RPG elements... it's a much more unusual beast to describe. More of a 3D beat-em-up, something like God Hand.
Yeah I actually contemplated before including Steelrising. For sure there are some unique aspects that separate soulslikes from non-souls like action RPGs, but I’d argue there are actually way more similarities - especially with a game like Steelrising where you can turn off many of those aspects. I hadn’t heard about Pillory or My Familiar but they’re on my radar now! I love learning about some games I never even heard of before! I dug God Hand so I may have to check out Clash: Artifacts of Chaos too!
@@adamscottgames Most fair and i think i see where you're coming from. There's overlap with equipment and gear building, making a specific build where you try to look at the stat numbers of your character. Make the weapons and magic work with the numbers, watching out for buffs and debuffs, learning the resistances and strengths of all enemies within these systems and altering your build accordingly. Would that beb a correct summation? Didn't know Steelrising had some options like that! Makes me think of how Darksiders 3 later added an option that would make the combat more in line with Darksiders 1 and 2. It's hardly a perfect solution-- enemies and systems designed to work in one style of combat may not work as well in another style. People are still very divided on Darksiders 3, but the addition of this optional combat change does show the devs cared. I hope the newly-announced game will prove good. Likewise: i hope Pillory, My Familiar and Clash: AoC will also prove fun whenever the time is there! Cool to see someone who knows of and has experienced God Hand! I may be able to supply a lot more games, but i don't really remember if i've left a big recommendation list somewhere in your comments before :P So for now i'll leave it at some choice ones: - Lost in Random: The Eternal Die. Frankly i'm happily surprised at a new Lost in Random game. People are already slamming it for not being like the first one-- but i'm excited. - Promise Mascot Agency. Exiled Yakuza member hiring mascots, who are sapient creatures in this world, in a dying town inhabited by the likes of a crazy pirate man, a kind bartender gimp, a big thumb with a face, a crying tofu block, and more. - The Dungeon Experience. A game by the developer of point-and-click adventure Paradigm. *What* kind of game it is, i couldn't tell you. - Bad Boro. Don't know if this one is still in production but i like the style. Seems to be advertised as a kind of top-down beat-em-up soulslike. - Decline's Drops. Hand-drawn 2D action platformer. Looks to be quite cute. - Immortal: And the Death that Follows. 2D beat-em-up roguelike inspired by Hindu mythology. The dev has stated God Hand as an inspiration here as well. Thanks for the reply and take care!
@jurtheorc8117 you've got good taste, my friend. And I'll give the Lost in Random a fair shot, too. Yeah, it's different, but I loved that world so much, I'd love to spend more time in it!
Thanks for watching! What’s your favorite indie RPG?
Undertale!!!!
@@gamingguru1137 Amazing game!
