After a lot of search looking what safe product to use in the travertine I found you. Thank you so much for your video.👍

Thanks a ton. What do you use to get rid of soap scum/hard water build up?

I own a cleaning company and I use stonetech stone and tile cleaner. It has a neutral PH. And yes, for the love of God, never use an abrasive cleaner on these types of surfaces, you are better off with using warm water and a few drops of soap, like Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds, mix 1 tablespoon with 1 liter of water.
I had a client that used tilex on these 😫 these were very damaged and well, the reason I was hired to clean her home 😊 Not everything we call tile is tile!

The product you're using is not acidic but is alkaline and if you know alkaline products can etch or damage the travertine as well. You can take the soil and dirt out of the travertine but at the end the chemical gets inside the stone and start eating up the crystals from within. The best products for natural stone are PH balance in other words look for products with a PH7 that is neutral, that's the safer way to treat it.

How frequently do you need to seal a tumbled travertine shower? I am doing a full clean to remove black mold in some tiles and grout, which may include harsher chemicals and possibly gouging out and re-grouting. The shower was installed about 7 years ago, and I've sealed about once per year, but the black mold comes back. I thoroughly clean, wash out with fresh water and then let dry for about a week before sealing. I know I need to do a regular cleaning more often and that's part of our problem. I guess, when I see the water not beading up, I need to seal again - like you say 4-5 coats? Does that seem reasonable?

I did sealing on mine 4 times to start, then annually for 3 years. SOME mold gets attracted to surface, but washes out pretty easy with soap & elbow grease...once in a great while I'll bleach, scrub, wash. But surface mold is all I get.

if you feel like it, dry the shower after every use. you’ll have no mold. but who wants to do that?

I'm assuming this same product can be used on travertine kitchen floors with wide grout lines too. Thanks!

Just stay away from harsh bleach based products and be sure to seal your tile once a year...after a week of not using it.

What do you recommend to remove old grout haze from formerly high gloss travertine tile? I'm scraping it down carefully but am not getting the high gloss shine back. It's a bathroom countertop so doesn't get much wear and would seem to be able to be restored easily.

Polishing any natural stone is done with different grits of sandpaper...rough to absolute smoothest....very tedious process but it works.

I’m a renter at a higher end apartment. All granite counters. A sink that feels like cement and is dark brown.. no idea what it even is. I just clean it with regular dish soap and a soft abrasive. But I have travertine floors and showers. The tenant before took awful awful care of the place. Is it normal for the floors and shower to look unsealed or unglazed? I’m so scared to try to clean any of it and mess it up 😟

I have a travertine shower that has black spots on the lower part of the tiles. I have used a natural stone cleaner and a brush and it's not moving...Could this be staining or is it mold? I don't know what else to use to make it go away....Help!

Hard to say, mold or mildew coming from the shower pan ( mortar ) is something you'll never stop...but you can knock it down on occasion with bleach, just don't let it set forever or use it a LOT, it will strip the sealer ( you should have ) used on it.

@@StarrTile No, bleach is good for non porous surfaces, but distilled white vinegar is best for killing black mold on porous surfaces.
