  • Welcome to A Day In A Life Of A Window Cleaner as we do another Coningsby day. More than just window cleaning today, we have a conservatory roof clean and a gutter clear to fit in. Also no Sophie with us today just me and Matthew.
This can be.a challenge when working away from home as i have to conserve pure water, will we make it?

Here is another A day in the life of a window cleaner, today we had to fit in a conservatory roof clean and a gutter clear while working away from our local area. Having to conserve our pure water.

@ 4.16. you are cleaning conny roof .... think about buying the. rotaqleen 60 cm. classic ! there are a few videos on youtube about it . Perfect for. such roofs. with zero energy used in comparison to manual scrubbing

I will have a look right away sounds like it is definitely worth looking into. Anything that makes life easier and is time saving is worth it. At least with window cleaning some days i do not feel like i need to go to the gym lol!

Great to see a variety of jobs. Just 1 question, considering how long it took to do the first clean and gutter empty vs Matthew doing 4 houses do you think the first clean and gutter empty was financially comparably? i.e. did the first clean and gutter empty generate more ££ than the 4 houses?

Hi Ched Good question! The 1st clean and gutter clear did take a little longer than Matthew doing 4 cleans (2 bungalows, 1 medium house 1 small house). How ever the Gutter clear and 1st clean did bring in £25 more than those 4 Matthew did. So it was worth it, this is something that runs through my mind while on the job. I did feel that the 1st clean should have been charged more for the windows as they were in need of a very good clean. But the gutters did go quicker than i thought so it kinda leveled out in the end.

@@CrystalCleanWindows It's always tricky quoting for gutters as I feel it should pay more, per hour, than window cleaning as it's either more dangerous (ladder work) or using an expensive gutter vac that needed to be bought and maintained. Pricing is always tricky as I want more work but want to earn a reasonable fee for the work, it's a balancing act. If you are getting new quotes it might be worth playing with prices a little to see if a higher fee can be achieved. I'm surprised sometimes that people don't bat an eyelid at prices and others look shocked!

@@ched999uk I love the gutters as they do bring in more work per hour so to speak, we normally put the gutter clears on to a single day and move our schedule a day over. Only works when you have enough work waiting to do that. As i load the van with all the gutter vac etc a gutter day makes sense. I am happy with the pricing but i do get what your saying mate. The gutter vac system is expensive and needs servicing and some parts are consumables and are not cheap. Some of my quotes we like you dread saying the price yet the customer doesn't blink and is really keen.
Some gutter jobs seem to go a lot easier than others and you think that you are possibly over charging, then you get some that go the other way despite you thinking it would go well.

Hi buddy. Loveing the content you’re putting out. But the only critique I have is the amount of weight you’re carrying. 700l water is 700kg that vans good for 900 payload by the time I have fuel and all your equipment and you 3 in the van your going to be well over weight. Just something to be conscious of buddy. It’s a big fine if your ever pulled

My payload is 1092Kg but you are right and a good point, I often think we are pushing it. Only good thing is van gets lighter quickly when we are working. I try to have no more than half a tank of fuel.
Would be better with another van for sure. Take less water 💦 I guess used to only take 6 barrels with me rather than 8.
