For the first time, the Internet is able to listen to the Large Hadron Collider. CERN's massive particle accelerator makes distinctive noises during operation. A worker recorded this audio from an emergency bunker right next to the beam.

How does it make a sound if the internal is a vacuum? No vibration from the atomreaching the metal pipe means no sound emitting from the collider, unless the electromagnets or cooling system is making the noise.

I think the sound is the accelerator itself as it speeds up the particles, not the particles in the tubes themselves.

@@doxielain2231 Yeah that's true but only in a near perfect vacuum, the noise from the collider is mostly fans and coils which create the magnetic fields to move the particles.

No sound at all the entire accelerator is in a vacuum the sounds you hear is proton injection, pumps, cooling fans and electronics aswell as magnets and radiocavities triggering etc.
